    Q
My local Ag Extension agent recommended Pendulum 2G to prevent crabgass and other weeds.
I will apply it with a John Deere broadcast spreader, model LPBS36JD, towed behind my lawn Tractor. Can you tell me the proper application rate, lbs per 1000 sq ft?
    A
The application rate for the Pendulum 2G when treating for crabgrass is roughly 75 pounds per acre. This comes out to roughly 1.70 pounds per 1000 sq/ft.

  • Asked by Chris from Arlington, Va
    03/05/2016
    Q
What setting should I use on my Scott's Edgeguard DLX spreader when using Pendulum 2G?
    A

We don't carry that particular model spreader, so we are not sure what the exact settings would be.  The easiest way to determine the correct setting for you needs is outlined below:

If you need to use 3.6lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would  add 3.6 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high.

    Q
    Safety to people and pets
Is Pendulum safe for people and pets to walk on?
    A
Pendulum 2G is a granular that has to be applied using a spreader and then watered in to activate the granules. Be sure to keep children and pets out of the area while the application is being performed and once the granules have been watered in and has had a chance to dry completely, the Pendulum 2G is completely safe for children and pets.

  • Asked by Sue from College Station, Tx
    10/24/2014
    Q
When is the best time to apply Pendulum 2G?
    A

We would need more information in order to answer your question efficiently.

What state are you in? What type of grass do you have?

Pendulum 2G is a pre-emergent and would normally be put down in early March to late April before the weeds have germinated. This will depend on the area that you reside.

  • Asked by Carroll from Slidell, La 70461
    10/19/2011
    Q
When to apply in south Louisiana? Square foot coverage per bag?
    A
When you apply Pendulum will depend on the type of weed you are trying to prevent. Pendulum 2G is a preemergent herbicide and it must be applied before the weeds germinate. You can call your local cooperative extension office to seek more information on the germination times in your region. 40 lbs can treat just under 1/2 an acre when used at the 100 lbs per acre usage rate. Please take a few minutes to read the Pendulum 2G product label to find the usage rate that is right for your needs.

  • Asked by Vicky from Burnet, Tx

    Q
Will Pendulum 2G work as pre-emergent against both soft and hard grassburs?
Live in Lake Buchannan Area in Texas (Central). I don't know the name of the weeds I am trying to kill, but they are both bur type plants. One is very hard and painful, the other bur is just clingy. Will Pendulum work for both?
    A

Pendulum 2G can be applied in early spring to prevent field sandbur, and it can be applied in the late summer/early fall to prevent lawn burweed. Many areas of Texas have had a more mild winter than usual this year, so a lot of field sandbur has been behaving more like a perennial than an annual. In this case, you may need a combination of pre-emergents and post-emergents to get satisfactory control. Keep in mind, too, that the best defense against sandbur is healthy, thick turfgrass.

    Will Pendulum 2G control dandelions?
Looking for a good pre-emergent for dandelions. Not many of the pre-emergent products list dandelion specifically, but they do control other broadleaf weeds. Which is your recommended pre-emergent for dandelions?
    A

Pendulum 2G is not labeled to be used for dandelions.

Dimension 2EW is labeled for dandelion, among many other types of weeds. Please make sure to read the product label to ensure this product is safe for your type of lawn.

    Q
What is the best time to apply Pendulum 2G Granular Herbicide in Virginia?
I live in Northern Virginia. When is the best time to apply this product for the best results?
    A

Most weeds begin germinating when the soil temperature is 55 - 60 degrees, so it is best for you to apply this when the soil temperature average is 50 degrees.  We would recommend contacting the master gardener at your local county extension office as they will be able to give you an exact time frame for applying this product in your area.

    Q
Can you apply pendulum 2G in an area where tomatoes are growing?
    A
We would not recommend to apply Pendulum 2G - 40 lb. bag where tomatoes are growing. Pendulum 2G - 40 lb. bag is a preemergent and therefore will be soaked into the soil. Please check out Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder It’s a pre-emergent specifically designed for those areas without harming the vegetation.
