    Q
How many square feet will one gallon of Phantom dilution cover?
    A
Phantom has many listed insects and you did not indicate which one you are treating for or where you were treating. For general pest control, 1 gallon of Phantom solution will cover about 1,000 sq ft. For more coverage rates, please take a few minutes to read over the Phantom product label which is always available on our website.

    Q
Can I spray Phantom with Gentrol? Can I spray Cyzmic CS with Phantom?
    A
You can mix Gentrol with Phantom and you can mix Gentrol with Cyzmic CS. You should not mix Phantom and Cyzmic CS together. Phantom is a non-repellent product and you will ruin the non-repellent factor if you mix it with a somewhat repellent product such as Cyzmic CS.

    Q
Can I use Phantom to spray in kitchen cupboards and along baseboards to control cockroaches?
If I can't use Phantom, could you please recommend a spray that I could use in the kitchen?
    A
We do not recommend that you spray anything in your cupboards because of the risk of contaminating your food or dishes. Instead, you should use a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel. The roaches will consume this bait and spread the bait to other roaches that are hidden in inaccessible areas and wipe out the population. Apply the bait into cracks and crevices in drawers, cupboards and around the counter. For easier clean up, you can also place the bait onto sticky notes and when you are done with the baiting you simply peel the sticky note off of the surface and dispose of it.  You can use Phantom in the cracks and crevices around the baseboards in the kitchen with no problem. We also recommend you add Gentrol insect growth regulator to the Phantom. Gentrol contains a synthetic roach juvenile growth hormone that disrupts the growth of the roaches and prevents them from reaching sexual maturity therefore preventing mating.

    Q
Can I use Phantom after using Suspend for bed bug treatment?
Will the Suspend repel them before they can get to the Phantom or shouldn't it kill them before repelling? Will spraying Suspend a few times then switching to Phantom cause some bad pesticide mixing effect?
    A
You can use Phantom and Suspend in the same areas, but it would not be beneficial in any way. Phantom is non-repellent so bedbugs cannot avoid the treated areas, and Phantom will kill bedbugs that cross over the treated area within 3 days. There has been no known resistance to Phantom because it is not in the same family of insecticides as Suspend. If you have used Suspend, you should wait at least two weeks before applying Phantom to avoid ruining the non-repellent properties of the product.

    Q
What is the shelf life of Phantom?
I purchased the 21 oz. bottle of Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide about 6 months ago. I am wondering whether or not it has a shelf life. If so, how long? I sprayed once when I received it, and I haven't sprayed since until today. I'm questioning the product's current strength.
    A
Phantom will last for up to 3 years in the bottle as long as it has been stored out of direct sunlight and out of extreme temperatures. Do not apply Phantom more than every 4 weeks. Application and dilution ratios will vary according to the pest you are treating, please take a look over the product label for more information.

    Q
Is Phantom safe to use as an area floor spray in a warehouse?
I recently purchased Phantom from you but after reading the label I don't know if I should use it. I have a packaged food warehouse on pallets and racks. I am having a terrible time with very tiny bugs that like to climb on you and enter your nose, ears, and crawl in your hair. They can bite very hard if they are in your shoe and you step in them, but most of the time they leave small bites in a line or very tight groups of three or four. They don't look like regular bugs, but look like dust specks. They are white and sometimes black. I've seen rats mites come off a dead rat I trapped and these bugs are not the same. They can move fast for their size. I've tried many pesticides from you after trying 2 pest management companies with no success. I've cold and hot fogged, and tried die and borax. Phantom with IGR is the final try. I move my business next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 60X photos of what I think they are can be sent to you if you like to see them.
    A
Phantom is a crack and crevice spray only and cannot be used as an area spray. It is important that you contact an entomologist to get a proper identification. You can contact your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the entomologist on staff. Your local natural history museum may be able to help you with an identification as well. Once you have an identification we can help you select the proper products to help you eliminate the pest.

    Q
    Phantom vs Termidor
What is better for termites: Phantom or Termidor?
    A

Termidor is definitely the most popular termite treatment product available.  Phantom was made more for indoor pest control and perimeter pest control treatments.  Since Termidor is not labeled to treat around the indoors for pest control, Phantom was made to serve that purpose.  Although Phantom is labeled for termites treating, it does not last nearly as long as Termidor does in the ground and it is also much more costly per finished gallon than Termidor is.

When using the cockroach dosage will Phantom still kill termites as well, or only with a lower dosage.
    A
Phantom will kill termites that come into contact with the product, even at the higher dosage. We do recommend that you read and follow the product label instructions to be sure you are using Phantom the way that the manufacturer intends it to be used.

    Q
I have three small tropical birds and am concerned about using this product indoors in the basement.
Although the birds are kept upstairs, all local veterinarians recommend not using any sprays inside even in the basement. We have hired a professional who uses this product and has applied it to the outside of the foundation, but now he suggests the interior foundation be treated due to an increase in the pavement ant infestation. He would like to treat the top of the foundation along the house. He assures me it should be fine since the birds are upstairs but since the vets are not in agreement I am not sure which way to go.
    A
We would definitely recommend going with the veterinarians advice since they are the experts on the type of birds you own. An alternative of course would be to remove the birds from your home, let the PCO perform the application, wait until the product has dried and all rooms have been vented and then return the birds to your home. This is usually a very safe solution since the birds are normally only sensitive to the fumes.

    Q
Phantom was sprayed near my vegetable plants - are they still safe to eat?
They sprayed Phantom around the perimeter of our home. I have a few pepper plants near where they sprayed. Will my plants pick up Phantom from the soil? What if there is a bit of spray on the peppers themselves? Thanks!
    A
Unfortunately Phantom is not labeled to be applied to any fruit or vegetables, so it is advised to discard anything that may have been sprayed with Phantom.  The plants should not pick up anything from the soil, but if they were sprayed on the item should be thrown away.

    Q
    Is Phantom safe for rugs?
We just had our house treated with phantom professionally. They were pretty liberal with spraying the rugs. I read in 1 question that the pest control company sprayed the walls & the answer said they couldn't comment, yet on another question, they said it was NOT an area spray. I'm not clear whether this company was thorough or incompetent. Can we no longer lay on the floor? Is our 2 year old daughter who plays around on the floor in any danger after this stuff dries?
    A
Phantom is a pretty safe product for use indoors when it is used according to the product label. Phantom is not labeled for use as a broadcast or area spray and it is supposed to be kept in cracks and crevices in order to limit skin contact. Please take a few minutes to read over the Phantom product label so that you can better understand the difference between thorough and off label uses. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of Phantom to address any risk concerns you may have: BASF at 843-849-7349

    Q
How long is a batch of Phantom good for use?
When I make a batch of the insecticide in a sprayer with water, is it still effective for use days later?
    A
As Phantom (and most other insecticides) sit in the diluted solution they will start to breakdown causing them to be less effective or not effective at all. We recommend using the solution within 24 hours of mixing. Leftover solution can be poured out directly next to your foundation. The sprayer should be thoroughly rinsed after each use to prevent the seals and gaskets from breaking down.

    Q
Can you mix Phantom and Exponent together?
also what can you mix with phantom
    A
Exponent is not labeled to be used with Phantom and really there is no reason to do so. Exponent is a synergizing agent that is used to help breakdown a specific enzymes that insects use to stave off the effects of synthetic pyrethroid insecticides and pyrethrin based insecticides. Since Phantom does not fall into either category you really would not benefit from adding Exponent into the solution. You did not mention what pest you are trying to eliminate or where you would be applying the products so we cannot make further recommendations as to what other chemical you can add to Phantom.

    Q
For bedbug extermination/control, how many square feet will a 3oz./1 gallon solution cover?
I would also like to know the frequency of application for bedbugs and/or any other specific bedbug usage information of Phantom.
    A
One diluted gallon of Phantom can cover up to 1,000 sq ft. Phantom should be applied not more than once every 30 days. Phantom can be used as a crack and crevice application indoors and may not be used as a broadcast application on mattresses. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions. You will find bed bug application information on pages 9-11.

    Q
Can I spray Phantom diluted solution with roach bait gel at same time?
I have heard that Phantom is a non-repellent spray material. In general, when I treat with roach bait gel, I cannot use roach spray together because spray material has repellent characteristic. In addition, can I use Phantom spray with mice medicine (bait type - contrac meal or first strike etc.) together at same time?
    A
You can use Phantom at the same time as using a roach bait. In fact you can use just about any type of insecticide at the same time as using a roach bait as long as you do not apply them in the exact same areas. Insecticides should be kept down low for the most part in cracks and crevices and/or spot applications around baseboards and under appliances and around window frames and door frames. Roach baits should be applied up high on counter tops, in cabinets, in drawers, in food pantries and other places where spraying would not be appropriate. Insecticides should not have any effect on rodent baits. You can view our Indoor Roach Control Guide for more tips and pictures.

    Q
Is 3oz/gal Phantom dilution also effective against termites if sprayed?
Your instruction calls for a 1.5oz/gal Phantom dilution for termite treatment, 3oz/gal dilution for general pest control as a spray.
    A
You do not want to use 3 oz per gallon for termites, because that will kill them too quickly.  Phantom is a non-repellent and if applied too strongly, the termites will not be able to carry the product back to the colony.  Termites should always be treated at 1.5 oz. per gallon of water.

    Q
Can I mix Phantom with Demand or Kicker in the same tank?
    A
Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide. If you tank mix Phantom with Demand or Kicker you will effectively negate this effect which will of course diminish the efficacy of Phantom. You should also note that Phantom is not labeled to be tank mixed with any other product.

    Q
Is Phantom safe to use on Hardwood flooring. (Polyurethane)
    A
Phantom should be safe to spray any place where it is safe to spray water since it is a water based insecticide. We still recommend that you spray a small inconspicuous area to test for staining.  We would also like you to note that Phantom is only labeled to be used in cracks and crevices and should not be used as a broadcast spray over hardwood floors.
