    Q
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) works great on stiltgrass, but not nimbleweed. What is the best herbicide to control nimbleweed?
    A

Tenacity is the best post emergent for Nimbleweed control in Zoysia lawns. You will use 1/2 tsp of product and a Non Ionic Surfactant. Nimbleweed can be difficult to control though so multiple applications may be needed.

    Q
Can Prodiamine be applied over asiatic jasmine ground over ? Also, does it prevent parsley-piert weed?
    A

There are several species of Jasmine that are tolerable to the Prodiamine 65 WDG including winter Jasmine, star Jasmine and cape-Jasmine. It is not labeled to prevent parsley-piert weeds from germinating. We do offer Dimension 2EW that prevents parsley-piert weed in landscaped areas and established lawns.

    Q
What is the correct dilution rate for Prodiamine 65 WDG?
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.55 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated

    Q
Can I use Prodiamine 65WG on Bermudagrass that is over seeded with annual ryegrass without harming either?
    A

Per the Prodiamine 65 WDG product label: To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG. When to Overseed After Application (All States)* Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application. Q
Can I mix Prodiamine 65 WDG with Surflan AS?
Is now a good time (Mid Jan) to spray pre-emergent in W Texas?
    A

Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region.  There is no valid reason to mix Prodiamine 65 WDG with Surflan AS as they are both pre-emergents labeled for the same weeds.

    Q
With careful application, can I spray Prodiamine 65 WDG right up to the base of my 1 foot raised vegetable garden bed?
I know that I can't apply to a edible garden, however my garden bed is raised by 1 foot. My grass goes up the base of the bed. Can I apply this product up to the base of the bed, given that I spray carefully and avoid wind drifts. Will spraying this product near the bed affect the soil inside the raised garden bed where the vegetables are planted?
    A

We recommend applying Prodiamine 65 WDG at least a few feet away from the vegetable garden. Also, it would be best to cover the garden if possible to be sure that no drift spray touches the growing plants.

    Q
Runoff of Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) from yard into hay field
My yard butts up to my field of coastal hay. Will the runoff from the Prodiamine application affect the animals being able to consume the hay?

As long as you water in the Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) after application and there is not a heavy rain until it is dry, the product will not run off into surrounding areas.

    Q
Can Prodiamine 65 WDG be used on fescue pastures?
We have small horse farm with 6 acres of pasture that was overtaken last year with crabgrass. Want to get it under control this year.
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG cannot be used in pastures where animals will graze.  We apologize, but we are not aware of a pre-emergent herbicide that can be used in grazing areas.  You may want to contact your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations.

  • Asked by Dustin from Grants Pass, Or

    Q
Can I apply Prodiamine to the majority of my lawn & then leave a portion of the lawn untreated so I may seed?
If so, does there need to be a buffer zone of untreated lawn around the patch that needs to be seeded? I have a 1000 sqft lawn with a patch that needs to be seeded about 50sqft.
    A

You can leave a portion of the lawn needing seeding untreated by Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade).  You would want to only apply to the areas you do want the application and water in to prevent the product from moving to untreated areas.

    Q
How wet should the turf be when applying Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade)? Should it pool a bit?
    A

You want to apply the Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) into the soil uniformly so that you get adequate coverage. Make sure to cover the area evenly.  To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. Q
Are there benefits to spraying Podiamene on actively growing weeds? Will spraying Prodiamine on seed render the seeds incapable of growing?
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is only a pre-emergent, used to prevent weeds from emerging. It will not kill anything that is actively growing. This product will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application.  It will depend upon the rate of product used per acre as to how many months you need to wait before reseeding.  At the minimum use rate, you need to wait 4 months before reseeding. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions on reseeding.
