Prodiamine 65 WDG is manufactured by Quali-Pro, which is located in Texas.
According to the manufacturer, St. Augustine can be plugged 90 days after the application of Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade).
One 5 lb. jug of Prodiamine 65 WDG will treat up to 5 acres depending on the rate used.
If you were spot treating on your St. Augustine with Atrazine as a post-emergent herbicide, then it should be fine to apply the Prodiamine anytime after that application. If, however, you were applying the Atrazine as a blanket application as a pre-emergent, then you would not need to use another pre-emergent right away.
Since the rate of 0.55 oz per 1000 sq ft is equal to the rate of 1.5 lbs per Acre for Prodiamine 65 WDG, then yes, we do recommend that you wait the labeled interval before reseeding. Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to know how much soil residue would be left of the product, and we would not want you to waste your seed.
You can typically apply a pre emergent such as Prodiamine 65 WDG the same day or the following day as a fertilizer application as long as they do not have competing use instructions regarding watering in after treatment and they do not contain the same active ingredient as a pree-emergent.
No, Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is not labeled to control moss. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Moss Guide for more information and helpful tips.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) cannot be used anywhere that you plan to plant edibles. We do carry the Hi-Yield Herbicide Granules or Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder that can be used around the listed vegetables on their respective product labels. Prowl is another option for larger areas.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is safe for dog as long as it is used as directed. Dogs do need to be kept out of the area while the product is being applied, but can be allowed to re-enter the area once the product is dry (usually within a few hours).
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is not a granular insecticide and must be mixed wiith water and applied using a handpump or backpack sprayer using a sufficient amount of water to evenly and thoroughly distribute the recommended mix rate per the product label per 1000 sq ft area. Once the application has dried, it is safe for pets to re enter the treated area. Pre-emergents need to be applied when soil temps reach 55 to 65 degrees. For the most accurate timing of when to apply pre-emegents in your area, view our Lawn Care Schedule or contact your Cooperative Extension Office for their recommendations.
Prodiamine 65 WDG is a pre-emergent herbicide that must be applied before the seedlings begin to germinate, in order to be effective. For Poa Annua, we recommend doing a pre-emergent application in the fall, in order to prevent the weed from actively growing in the spring. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions, and use as directed.
Poa annua is a winter annual weed that germinates in the fall and flowers in the spring, then dies as the temperatures rise in the late spring, early summer. In North Carolina, about 80% of poa annua germinates in a 60-day window from September 1 to October 30.
Please review our Poa Annua Treatment Guide for more infromation and recommendations on treatment.
People and pets should be removed from the area when applying Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade). Once the treated area has completely dried, it is then safe for people and pets to re-enter that area. Generally this could be between 4-6 hours, but it will depend on various factors.
Prodiamine 65 WDG should only be applied to established St. Augustine. It is only labeled for newly plugged Bermuda. Please contact us at 866-581-7378 M-F 9-5 PM for an alternative product recommendation.
Normally if you choose to use a pre-emergent you cannot seed within several months of the application. Per the Prodiamine Product Label: To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG.
When to Overseed After Application (All States)* Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application. Follow rates and intervals in the table below for best overseeding/reseeding results
When used at the lowest rates, it starts at 4 months after application that you can overseed.
Yes, that should be fine to mix your pre-emergent like Prodiamine with a post-emergent like Battleship. Just be sure that you are using the correct rates for your turfgrass and for the area that you are treating, and that the pre-emergent is activated within 14 days of application. You may want to do a small jar test for compatability if it is your first time mixing these two products together.

It would be best to make separate application for the Trimec 992, Prodiamine 65 WDG and the Quicksilver. Generally you don't want to mix pre- and post-emergent products as it can change their formulations. You could however do a jar mix of the Trimec 992 and the Quicksilver and see if they emulsify and could be sprayed together since they are both post emergents.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is not specifically labeled for preventing cudweed from germinating. We would suggest a Pendulum product.
Prodiamine 65 WDG is a water-dispersible granule which you dilute with water and then apply as a spray. You would use 0.36 – 0.83 oz per 1,000 sq ft when treating Bermuda. All the regular granule products we sell which contain Prodiamine also have a fertilizer. You can browse those products here.
If not listed specifically on the product label, we recommend performing a jar test and apply to a small area for compatiabilty.
