Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) would not be recommended for use in assigned pastures or grazeland where animals are intended to graze or in specifically planted food plot areas.
If applying to your residential lawn in which wildlife such as deer do occasionally graze, you are recommended to use a sufficient amount of water to carry the active ingredient into the soil to start working as soon as possible but also, to help protect pets and wildlife from potential exposure.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is applied at 0.185-0.55 oz (1.1 tsp-3.3 tsp) per 1,000 sq ft, this is usually mixed at 1 to 2 gallons of water. If a light rain is not expected within 7 days of the application, water the area with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of irrigation to ensure the seeds are contacted. Do not mow 2 days before or 2 days after the application.
Prodiamine 65 WDG cannot be used in pastures where animals will graze. We apologize, but we are not aware of a pre-emergent herbicide that can be used in grazing areas. You may want to contact your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations.
In order to know how much Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) you need, you will first need to determine how much area you're covering. Once you know that, you will follow the label for rates. For example, you use anywhere from 0.5-2.3 lbs per acre or 0.185-0.83 oz per 1k square feet depending on your lawn type. Once you know how much product you need per area, you will need to calibrate your sprayer to determine how much water to use

Both Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) & Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) are prodiamine-based pre-emergents. They are made by different manufacturers. It is not uncommon for each manufacturer to have their own version of a pre-emergent with the same active ingredients.
Since Prodiamine 65 WDG is not labeled for use where animals graze or around animal facilities, we would not recommend using this in areas where the chickens will roam or feed. We would recommend waiting at least one year before allowing animals to graze in areas treated with this product.
Prodiamine 65 WDG has a shelf life of 3 years as long as it's stored in a dry, cool place.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) does list perennial ryegrass and tall fescue as tolerable to applications on the label. This is a pre-emergent only that will not affect any actively growing weeds and only prevents the weeds listed on the label when applied before they germinate which does not include sandbur or horseweed. Something like Pendulum 2G would be more recommended for Sandbur. We are not able to find a pre-emergent labeled for horseweed.
Prodiamine 65 WDG would be fine to use on a gravel driveway but the granules are a yellow color therefore it may stain. It is a pre-emergent that can also be used around landscaped ornamentals. The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like a gravel driveway where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like TVC Total Vegetation Control. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants/turf since this product last for so long. If you have existing weeds in the gravel areas, then you can use Roundup QuikPro to spot treat and kill any existing plants.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is only labeled to prevent spurge, it will not kill that which has already emerged. However, you can use Celsius WG Herbicide for existing spurge that has already emerged. Just keep your pets out of the area while applying & they may return once the product has dried. You will also want to consult with your extension for the appropriate time to apply a pre-emergent.

Yes, Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is safe for pets as long as it is used as directed. Pets do need to be kept out of the area while the product is being applied, but can be allowed to re-enter the area once the product is dry (usually within a few hours).

The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like a gravel driveway where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like Martin's TVC Total Vegetation Management. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants/turf since this product last for so long. If you have existing weeds in the gravel areas, then you can use RoundUp QuikPro to spot-treat and kill any existing plants.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is measured by ounces as directed on the product label.
The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-0.55 oz of product for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.
Prodiamine is a granular that is mixed with water. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz (1.1 tsp-3.3 tsp) of Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade), per 1,000 sq ft.

Yes, you can mix a pre such as Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) with a post emergent such as Celsius WG Herbicide. We would recommend doing a jar test prior though to ensure they do not separate or have any other chemical reaction.
Using the Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) should be fine to use for prevention as long as it's down at the right soil temps, and labeled safely to apply on your turf type. If there are no roots of any trees or other desirable plants nearby/within 5-10 feet of where the gravel is, he could use a soil sterilizer like TVC with roundup/rm43 to kill what's there and prevent more growth of anything for a while.
