Product Overview

SFM Extra Herbicide is a professional-grade, dispersible granule herbicide formulated for long-term control of grasses, broadleaf weeds, and certain woody plants and vines. It contains two Group 2 active ingredients, sulfometuron methyl and metsulfuron methyl, which provide both pre-emergent and post-emergent activity through root uptake and foliar absorption.

SFM Extra is commonly used to manage difficult vegetation such as cheatgrass, foxtail species, ragweed, horseweed, johnsongrass, kochia, Russian thistle, and a wide range of other annual and perennial weeds. When activated by moisture, the product provides residual soil activity to suppress new weed emergence while controlling existing vegetation.

This herbicide is labeled for use in non-crop industrial areas, rights-of-way, railroads, utility sites, storage areas, pipelines, and conifer plantations. Application rates can be adjusted based on weed pressure, soil conditions, and site objectives, making SFM Extra Herbicide a flexible tool for selective vegetation management or expanded bare ground programs when used according to label directions.

Extended Application Instructions:

SFM Extra Herbicide is applied as a pre-emergent or post-emergent treatment to actively growing weeds or prior to weed emergence in labeled use sites. Applications may be made using ground equipment or aerial equipment, including helicopter application where permitted. The product may also be impregnated onto dry bulk fertilizer and applied for uniform distribution in certain forestry and non-crop uses.

Application rates range from 0.5 to 8 ounces per acre depending on target weed species, growth stage, soil texture, and site conditions. Lower rates are used for light infestations and coarse-textured soils, while higher rates are used for dense infestations and fine-textured soils. Moisture is required to activate pre-emergent control. For post-emergent applications, apply to young, actively growing weeds. Always follow the product label for complete directions, restrictions, and use precautions.
