    Does the Alpine Ant and Termite Foam go into the wall as a foam and then turn to powder?
    Is the main ingredient boric acid? I recently saw on TV someone using a spray for ants that goes into the wall and becomes a powder which is brought back to the nest. I thought they said it was Boric Acid powder and environmentally friendly.

    The Alpine Ant and Termite Foam does go into wall voids but it does not turn into a powder, it actually becomes a clear residual product once it dries that can be picked up by ants and termites and taken back to the nest.  The active ingredient is Dinotefuran .025%, not boric acid powder.  Alpine is very environmentally friendly.  We do carry a Boric Acid Powder dust called CB Borid Boric Acid Dust which would fit the description of what you are describing.

    I have drywood termites in a painted patio post. Should I use Alpine foam or Fastout Foam? or something else?
    I can see the kickout hole. Would I drill a hole directly into the kickout hole or several holes around the area?
    A
    The Alpine Ant and Termite Foam is our most popular product, so we would suggest that product.  You should drill directly into the kickout hole and foam into the drill holes.  Simple as that.

    Can Alpine Foam get rid off any type of termites if applied properly?
    Like drywood, subterranean and any other family of termite
    A
    Alpine Ant and Termite Foam will kill any type of termite that comes into contact with it, however it is not the proper way to eliminate subterranean termites and will not eliminate an entire subterranean colony on its own. Proper application of the foam for drywood termites or spot treatments in a wall void for subterranean in conjunction with a soil foundation treatment will be effective with the Alpine.

    Can Alpine Foam (or another Foam) be used in conjunction with Termidor to treat for termites (ie: Termidor outside and Alpine Foam indoors to treat a wall void where a swarm occurred)?
    A
    Yes, since Alpine Ant and Termite Foam is also a non-repellent, it can be used in conjunction with Termidor with no issues.  It would be advised to treat as you stated, Termidor outside and Alpine foam inside the structure.

    How does Alpine Ant&Termite; Foam compare to D-Foam for carpenter ants in wall voids?
    I currently use D-Foam with success but am always open to better alternatives.

    It is always our opinion "if its not broken, don't fix it". If you are having success with D-Foam we recommend you stick with it. Still if you want to try something else we would be happy to offer a side by side comparison. D-Foam has the active ingredient Deltamethrin which offers a fast knockdown and a long lasting residual. D-Foam does not however spread back to the nesting area, it will only eliminate carpenter ants that come into direct contact with treated areas. Alpine Ant and Termite Foam on the other hand contains Dinotefuran and comes from a new line of Reduced Risk Non-Repellent products. Non-repellent products are un-detectable to insects and have a transfer effect which means there is a delayed reaction to the active ingredient allowing the insecticide to spread throughout a colony. Non-repellents can take several weeks to kill an insect. Both products have excellent feedback from our customers who have used them for carpenter ant infestations.

    Alpine Ant and Termite Foam is not harmful to humans when used as directed. It is designed to be applied into wall voids for ants and wood boring insects.

    I am using Cyper WP around the perimeter of the house and Ortho Home Defense around pipes and cracks inside the house

    Alpine Ant and Termite Foam would be a great option for you. It provides a non-repellent transfer killing effect to eradicate the ant colony/colonies.

    When applied in a dry, dark environment, how long will the active ingredient in Alpine Ant and Termite Foam remain active/effective?
    A

    Alpine Ant and Termite Foam is designed to spot treat active insect infestations, so it does not have a long residual once applied. This product is a non-repellent, however, so it does have some transer effect among insects listed on the product label. You can reapply Alpine Ant and Termite Foam as needed. If you need a longer residual, you could use a product like Fuse Foam or Termidor Foam. These will last about 60-90 days when used in a wall void.

    When using Alpine Foam around the perimeter of a home for carpenter ants, how often should you apply it?
    A
    Alpine Foam is meant for treating ants inside the wall voids and small crack and crevice areas inside and around the outside of the home.  It is no meant to be applied around the perimeter of the home, like a spray.  Instead of using the foam inside cracks and crevices, and places where pipes enter the home every month, it would be much better to apply a product like Dominion 2L, which is applied out of a 1 gallon hand pump sprayer.  It is much easier to take care of ants by spraying a larger area that ants can crawl over easily near the house instead of treating each individual crack around the house.  Also, the spray will last 60 to 90 days so it does not require as much treating as the foam.

    How can I use Alpine Ant and Termite Foam for powderpost beetles with entrance holes the size of a ballpoint pen tip?
    We have a major powderpost beetle infestation in an old maple floor. Lifting the floor boards is not an option.
    A

    To apply Alpine Ant and Termite Foam to the holes you would need to drill the holes to make them larger.  This product is really not ideal for treating this way as it will not protect the flooring; it only treats what is active at the time for about 90 days.  A better option would be using Jecta, which can be used without drilling and will penetrate the wood better for protection and treatment.  The manufacturer can actually offer some great advice on using it in a syringe so that you do not have to drill.  Nisus can be reached at 800-264-0870.

    Hi, I need this to spray into my baseboards. Is this safe to use with a cat around the house?

    Yes, Alpine Ant and Termite Foam is safe to use around pets if used as directed.  You will need to keep the cat out of the area during application and until everything is thoroughly dry.

    To apply Alpine Ant and Termite Foam into wall voids or hard to reach areas, you will need drill directly into where the active termite colony is and then drill every 4-6 inches on either side.     How long does it take for Alpine Termite and Ant Foam to take affect after ants come into contact with it?
    How long does it take before I see improvement to ant infestation?
    A

    PT Alpine Foam RTU can take a few days to start to kill off an ant colony as it takes time for the product to be taken back to the nest and spread.  From there it can take up to 30 days or more to completely eliminate an ant infestation depending on the size and number of colonies you are actually dealing with.

    Our termite tubes are in the drywall directly above our bed. Should we sleep in another room for a period of time after the application of this product?

    What product is best to treat the soil under a cracked garage floor for termites?
    I want a foam that I can inject into a cracked garage floor. I also would like to inject some into studs in my garage that have been damaged by subterranean termites. (Note: I have had the perimeter soil treated with Altriset, but would like to treat soil where the floor is cracked also.) I am looking for a product with residual and transferable effects. Is PT Alpine Foam RTU the best product for both locations, or is there a better one?
    A

    If you are trying to treat soil under a cracked garage floor a foam is not the correct option for application. You would need to drill holes into the concrete every 12 inches along the wall the garage shares with the home, and anywhere else you suspect termite activity in the soil. Once you drill the holes you can use either the same liquid termiticide you used around the perimeter, or any other of your choosing, and apply roughly 1/2 gallon of solution per hole. This is the only way to sufficiently coat the soil and provide an adequate barrier. Foams like the PT Alpine Foam RTU are for spot treating where active termites are currently present in a wall void and could be used for your garage application. Keep in mind, if there are no termites behind the wall where you apply the foam you are wasting product. It is not a wood bonding chemical and will not hold up over long periods of time for protection; it's just used for active spot treatments. You also want to be sure you are only spot treating where active insect nests are located with the foam and not filling it stud to stud, or floor to ceiling.

    What is the best product to treat for termites on the interior wood of my sailboat?

    The best way to treat interior wood for termites is by using a termiticide foam.  The only foam that is labeled to be used in or on boats is Alpine Ant and Termite Foam.  Please refer to the product label for application instructions.
