    Should I wear a mask to use PT Ultracide?
    2 weeks ago I noticed Flea dirt on my dog, last week I began my fight against fleas. Bathed her with Flea and Tick shampoo then a two days ago I began using Fronline Plus. I have seen a few fleas on her since this but I'm seeing that it's normal as they are dying for them to come out to the coat. Anyways I haven't really seen any around my house because I live in an apartment with tile floor everywhere, however I wanna just use this to make sure my home doesn't become a completely infested. Should I wear a mask to use this product, is it safe around babies (7 month and 2 year old), and is it safe for humans/dogs.

    Ultracide is a very safe and effective flea control product that is used widely by professional companies such as Terminix and Orkin in homes with children and pets all the time.  You should have children and pets in another room while you are treating.  After treatment allow 30 minutes to dry and then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room.  Per the product label, "applicators must wear long-sleeve shirts, long pants, socks and shoes, and chemical resistant gloves." Respiratory devices are not required.

    Bagless vacuums
    Is it safe to use a bagless vacuum with Ultracide treatment? I don't want to be spreading eggs or fleas that might stick to the vacuum. Or will it be ok since the chemicals get into the vacuum?

    Once the product, Ultracide, has dried you should not be concerned about vacuuming the product up. However, whether you are using a bagless or other vacuum - You still need to vaccum frequently and always empty your vacuum after every use. Anything you suck up can potentially crawl back out. If you are concerned about anything sticking inside, you may want to rinse it out after emptying it after each use. It may seem tedious, but vacuuming is a key part in treating a flea infestation.

    Can I clean my carpets after treatment with my Rug Doctor machine? Will it cancel out the Ultracide?

    You should clean your carpets prior to using the Ultracide. You will indeed remove the residual properties of the Ultracide if you wash the carpets after you apply the product.

    Can I use Ultracide on my couches? They are microfiber material.
    And if so can I spray the entire surface, or only under the cushions?

    Ultracide can be applied to microfiber couches. We recommend that you only apply to the seams, folds, and under the cusions.

    Everyone says to vacuum after using Ultracide - we have hardwoods, is it better to vacuum or sweep?
    Wondering which method of follow through is necessary for my hardwoods after using Ultracide??

    Vacumming is really the recommended method as it will suck up any eggs or adult fleas that are exposed whereas sweeping could just push them into a different area. A canister vacuum works very well for this use.

    What is the best cost effective treatment to get rid of fleas in house and on animals?
    I have a flea problem. I have bombed washed all animals all bedding and constantly sweep, but have had no luck. A vet told be to make sure I get some kind of spray with IGR in it and for the animals comfortis is the best. I just need something that will work and not cost a lot of money.

    We recommend using Ultracide for indoor fleas. Ultracide is a very effective flea control aerosol that provides immediate kill of adult fleas and prevents formation of new adults from eggs or larvae. Ultracide is a very safe and effective flea control product that is used widely by professional companies such as Terminix and Orkin in homes with children and pets all the time.  You should only apply Ultracide to carpeted areas and upholstered areas.  Do not apply on top of couches and chairs where people rest their arms, fleas do not breed in these areas. You would want to spray around the foot of the furniture, and underneath couch cushions.  You should have children and pets in another room while you are treating.  After treatment, allow 30 minutes to dry and then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room. Vacuum immediately before the treatment and every other day for the next 14 days. A second treatment may be needed after 14 days for heavy infestations.

    How do you treat your cat while you are treating your home? Can they keep transferring the fleas ?

    On the day that you apply the Ultracide, or any flea product for that matter, you should give any pets in the home a flea bath or take them to your vet for a flea dip.  Since fleas can live on your pet and thrive, you must eradicate the fleas from your pet when you treat.  Remember that vacuuming is also very important before and after your treatments and that you should treat every 14 days until the problem is eradicated.

    I'm getting ready to move into a rental house but it was infested with fleas. Can you bring fleas with you?

    Fleas can be transferred from one place to another on your personal belongings that come into contact with infested areas. If the home you are getting ready to move into is already infested with fleas, you may want to consider treating first before you move in your belongings. We recommend using a product called Ultracide. It is our recommendation and industry standard that you vacuum immediately before the application of Ultracide and every day or every other day after the application for the next two weeks. Vacuums can physically remove a decent percentage of flea eggs that are in the carpet, along with much of the organic crud that the flea larvae feed on. At the end of the 2 week treatment period you may be required to do a follow up treatment of Ultracide to get rid of any stragglers.

    Can I spray Ultracide on my leather furniture?
    I have leather furniture and the cushions do not come off. I want to spray it but don 't know where or how since I have read a lot of the Q&A about not spraying on top of couches.

    We would not advise spraying Ultracide on any leature furniture as it cause staining to the treated area. You may treat upholstered furniture under cushions for more effective results.

    How should our bed and bedding be treated when cat sleeps on it every nite?
    Underneath the blanket is a comforter cover and then comforter. Should we spray Ultracide on the comforter cover? If so, will this kill any fleas that may have burrowed into the comforter? We can't lock cat out or prevent him from sleeping on our bed.

    We recommend that you remove all linens and wash and dry on high heat to kill any existing fleas. While they are being laundered, we recommend spraying your mattress and box spring with SteriFab give time to completely dry before applying your linens back on the bed. We suggest that you have the cat treated for fleas by your vet. Ultracide is great for indoor flea treatments on carpeted, hard surface floors and furniture. We recommend vacuuming prior to the application and each day for 14 days. On the 14th day, you will vacuum and treat with a second application of Ultracide and vacuum for additional 14 days.     What is the follow up procedure after applying Ultracide to concrete floors?
    A
    After applying Ultracide, you will vacuum daily for 14 days. If you have a bagged vacuum, you will replace the bag each day. If bagless, empty the canister in a trash bag outside of the home. You will reapply the Ultracide 14 days after the initial application and continue this process a third or fourth time depending on the level of fleas.     We have laminate flooring and leather furniture - where are the fleas living?!
    I am considering purchasing Ultracide to backup the spot on flea treatment used on my dog and 2 cats but I'm not even sure where to apply it. We have laminate and ceramic flooring throughout the house and leather furniture so I'm not sure if Ultracide is even appropriate to use. Prior to adopting the 2 cats we had zero fleas by just spot on treating our dog. An every-other-day flea combing reveals mostly large fleas, but it is smaller fleas we see periodically in areas of the house. I wouldn't call it an infestation, but the animals are definitely uncomfortable and I have seen a couple on myself and children randomly. Do I even need Ultracide - my vet indicated that the spot on treatment would be sufficient to rid the house of any fleas as well.

    Laminate floors do not need to be sprayed with any products; they simply need to be vacuumed, very thoroughly, every day for the next couple of weeks. All upholstered furniture, rugs and carpets can be vacuumed then sprayed with Ultracide.     How soon after the Ultracide dries on the carpet, should you vacuum?
    Should I vaccuum right afterwards or starting the next day?

    For flea treatments you will want to do a thorough vacuuming prior to application and then start the next day with the daily vacuuming after the spray has dried. You do not have to do the same day you treat after the product dries.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Can I spray Ultracide in my utility room where my gas hot water heater is located?
    I have noticed a lot of fleas in my utility room (where vents for hot water heater and dryer are located). I purchased your Ultracide product and sprayed the entire house except for the utility room because I was unsure as to whether it was safe to do so because of the gas hot water heater. Therefore, I put borax down on that floor and have noticed quite a few fleas (dead or struggling to stay alive). I will do a second treatment of Ultracide in another week and would like to know if I can use it in my utility room. I also used the ultracide (also sprinkled borax) on the hardwood floors, without any staining, as more than 1/2 of the flooring in the house is hardwood and I was experiencing fleas jumping onto my socks and pant legs from the hardwood floors and vinyl.

    You can apply Ultracide to the floor surfaces in the utility room (after testing a small area). You should vacuum daily all of the floor surfaces and dispose of the bag or empty the cansiter immediately when finished. The product should NOT be applied to an area where it can contact a flame as it is extremely flammable.

    Is it normal to still see fleas after 1st treatment of Ultracide?
    The fleas have definitely decreased, but I'm still seeing at least 15 fleas in the bowls of soapy water I leave out over night.

    It is completely normal to see fleas after the first treatment with Ultracide. You should continue thoroughly vacuuming your home every day for 14 days after the initial treatment. After 14 days you should do the follow up application of Ultracide that is required to break the infestation cycle. Any pets should be treated with a product that is labeled for use on animals.

    Where inside vehicles do I need to spray Ultracide to kill fleas? Do I need to spray on the seats? I have sprayed on the floor but I still feel the fleas.
    A
    The Ultracide can be used in all fabric areas of the car and cracks and crevices, just like you would use it in the home for flea control. Floorboards, seats, cushions, and floor mats are all places you can spray the product. You need to vacuum the car thoroughly everyday just like you would the home as well to help expose any dormant eggs to the product you put down. Spray Ultracide every 14 days and let dry completely before re-entering the car. If you are only feeling the fleas, and not seeing them still, you need to put down glue boards to try and get a sample of the pest in your car to make sure you are treating for the right insect. You can take a sample to your local Cooperative Extension to have it identified by the Entomologist on staff.

    My son had a dog living in the house with us. He moved out and took the dog. He left the fleas here with me.
    I used 3 can of hot shot in 1 room and still have them. Tell me how to get rid of them

    Precor 2000 or Ultracide would be a good choice for indoor carpeted areas. Precor 2000 and Ultracide come ready to use, no mixing or equipment is needed and they contain both an insecticide for a quick knock down of biting adults and an insect growth regulator for control of developing flea eggs and larvae. Infested areas should be thoroughly vacuumed prior to product applications to help remove as much flea eggs, larvae and debris as possible and also to help stimulate larvae to change stages and come into contact with the product. You should continue to vacuum at least every other day for the next two weeks

    Is this product odorless and is it toxic to people?

    Ultracide does have a bit of an odor as do all aerosols though we have never had a complaint that the odor is very strong or that it lingers. As long as you follow the product label and stay out of treated area until it has dried the toxicity level is relatively low.
