    Q
Can be Q4 plus be used on an established Timothy hay field without hurting the Timothy grass.
Trying to eliminate yellow nutsedge. What rate should be used as to kill nutsedge but not hurt Timothy grass?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled for use on Timothy grass, and also cannot be used in any grazing areas or on hay that would be consumed by animals. This is only for residential lawn and certain commercial area applications. Unfortunately there are no sedge products that are labeled for grazing or hay areas that we are aware of on the market. It often must be spot treated repeatedly with roundup or similar material.

    Q
Dose Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide kill broadleaf weeds in cooler weather?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide should be applied between 65 and 85 degrees for best results. The product label does state that you should not apply the product above 90 degrees but does not have a minimum temperature listed.

In cooler weather, herbicides can take longer to absorb and uptake in weeds so complete die off may take longer than in warmer temperatures.

    Q
Can a MSO be added to Q4 for increased effectiveness?
    A

Neither a MSO nor a non ionic surfactant are recommended to be tank mixed with Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide

    Q
Can Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide be used to spot treat weeds in bermuda any time of year?
The weeds in yard were treated by a professional yard treatment company about 4 to 6 weeks ago. However, I still have weeds, and new weeds are growing. Can I spot treat the weeds as many times as it takes to get rid of the weeds? Or, should I do a one-time broadcast treatment with Q4? Also, should I use 1.8 oz or 2.5 oz per gallon of water? I am in Georgia.
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can only be applied as a broadcast twice a year with 30 days in between each application. Spot treatments when weeds are actively growing in Spring and Summer can help with sparse weed control or as a follow up application to a broadcast on an “as needed” basis.

Whether you are doing broadcast or spot treatment applications, be sure you do not exceed the maximum rate allowed per calendar for bermuda which is 5 to 7 pints/per acre or 1.8 fl oz to 2.6 fl oz per 1000 sq ft.

Spot treatments for bermuda are applied at the rate of 1.84 fl to 2.57 fl oz in 1 gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

Keep in mind, weed control can vary depending on the specific weeds being targeted, if they are young vs mature weeds, the density of weed infestations and also weather/soil conditions.

    Q
Can Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide be used on bermuda football field to control knotweed, dogfennel, crabgrass, nutsedge, spurge, and clover?
I have a combination of knotweed, dogfennel, crabgrass, nutsedge, spurge, and clover on my football field. What can I spray to take care of everything. In the past I have used XLR8 and MSMA 6 Plus but they haven't taken care of all the weeds.
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is labeled for those weeds you’re targeting and safe for bermudagrass. This can be applied to sports turf, golf courses, commercial/residential lawns, cemeteries and public parks also. Review the product label for more information.

Due to the sensitivity of application sites such as golf courses, playgrounds, sports fields, etc, we are not able to advise on specific applications regarding treatment.

Please consult with your local Sports Field Superivisor, County Extension Office or the manufacturer PBI Gordon directly at 816-421-4070 for detailed information regarding your treatment.

    Q
    Will this kill burr clover?
    A
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not specifically labeled to control burclover so we couldn't be positive it would. It does control many other hard to kill broadleaf weeds, and other weeds in the clover and medic family so its possible some impact may be found from a treatment, but could not guarantee results. A product similar to the Q4 Plus called Trimec Crabgrass Concentrate is however labeled for burclover specifically.

    Q
How much chemical to 5 gal of water?
    A
The application rate of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide varies depending on what type of truf grass  you have. Cool Season Grasses: 2.6 - 3 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (7 - 8 pints per acre) Warm Season Grasses: 1.8 - 2.6 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (5 - 7 pints per acre).  The amount of water used is not as important as getting the correct amount of product over the correct amount of area. Water is acting as the carrier for the product. However much water it takes you to cover 1000 sq ft is the amount of water you will mix with the correct amount of product per 1000 sq ft. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.  We also have a video here for how to calibrate your sprayer to know your rate per 1000 sqft.

    Q
    Expected results for crabgrass
I applied this to my yard and after a few days I noticed the crabgrass weeds not necessarily wilting but the blades are turning red. Does that mean it is slowly dying? So far they look the same except for the red blades.
    A
When Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide the different coloring could mean that it is dying. Keep in mind that in 30 days, you may need to reapply.

    Q
Will Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide kill Heath Rush ?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled for Heath Rush. We would recommend talking to your local extension office on the best herbicide to treat for this weed and their recommendations as there are no university extension articles on effective weed control on this species either.
