  • Asked by Benjamin from North Little Rock, Arkansas

    Q
It states on the Q4 Plus label to not use during fall transitioning into winter. Is it not safe to do so?
Wanted to use this product to kill crabgrass plus other weeds in my Bermuda grass lawn
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide, so it will only be effective on existing plants that are actively growing.  You do not want to apply in the fall when fall is transitioning into winter when plants are not activelt growing because they will not be able to absorb the product. The best temperatures to apply in are between 55 degrees and 90 degrees. So now would be a great and safe time to apply.

    Q
Is Q4 or Speed Zone best to mix with Tenacity and a surfactant as a general weed killer in late summer before
I'm looking for a general weed killer that I can mix with Tenacity and a surfactant to spray my tall fescue lawn with in late summer 4-6 weeks before overseeing my lawn. Which is the best product for this?
    A
Neither Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide nor Speedzone would be advised to tank mix with Tenacity.  Tenacity requires the use of a surfactant in post emergent spot treatment applications while the others do not, as Q4 already contains one and most Speedzone products list on the label to not mix as it can injure your turfgrass.  Depending on what you are treating for Q4 is the better option of the 3 for the most weeds.

    Q
Will Q4 Plus kill deers tongue grass?
The deers tongue grows somewhat like nimblewill and spreads rapidly. Tenacity herbicide has no effect on it whatsoever. Is there herbicide that will control deers tongue?
    A

Q4 Plus is not labeled to control deers tongue grass.

The only thing we are aware of to get rid of deer tongue grass is a non selective such as Roundup QuikPRO. Otherwise, we recommend contacting your local extension office to see if they know of anything else,
