    Q
How much Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide do I mix per gallon of water if I have fescue turfgrass?
    A

The mixing ratio of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide for Fescue is 7- 8 pints per acre (2.6 to 3.0 fl oz/1000 sqft). When broadcasting your water volume may change so while the concentration of product per area is the same as the spot treatment, if your turf is very dense you may need 2-4 gallons of water over 1000 sq/ft, vs the only 1 gallon needed for spot treatments. Please review the product label for more information.

    Q
How warm does it have to be to apply Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide?
    A

The product label for Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide states that you should not apply the product above 90 degrees. Although it does not give a specific temperature for being too cold, most herbicides should be applied between 65 degrees and 85 degrees, when the target weeds are actively growing.

  • Asked by Todd from Bourbonnais, Illinois

    Q
Can Q4 Plus be mixed with Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester?
I would like to mix this with Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester if acceptable? If so, would i still add the non-ionic surfactant to them as i do with the Triclopyr Ester? thanks
    A

We do not recommend coming Q4 Plus Herbicide with other post-emergent herbicides such as Triclopyr Ester. The Q4 already contains 4 active ingredients and covers a wide variety of weeds, so adding more active ingredients could damage your desirable turfgrass.

While you can add a surfactant with Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester, we do not recommend adding it to Q4 Plus since that can increase the risk of injury to your desirable turf.

    Q
Can Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide be applied in April?
    A

You can apply Q4 Plus Herbicide anytime the target weeds are young and actively growing. This product will not work well in very cold temperatures, so we recommend applying Q4 Plus when air temperatures are around 60-85 degrees for best results. Be sure that your turfgrass is listed as tolerant on the product label.

    Q
New sod dwarf fescue +kentucky blue grass approx 4 weeks ago, will W4 treat poa bluegrass+oxalis?
I place new sod (dwarf fescue and kentucky blue grass) about 4 weeks ago. Now there is oxalis weed and poa bluegrass weed. Does Q4 treat it as spot treatment during the winter? How soon can I treat my sod with weed killer?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can be applied 3 to 4 weeks after sodding new grasses so it should be safe for you to apply it now to treat/control oxalis. Q4 Plus is not labeled to kill poa annua, since it's also a cool season grass, you can only spot treat with a non-selective like Roundup to get rid of it.

    Q
Can I mix Q4 Plus with Image when I am spraying for Po Anna?
    A

You could mix Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide with another selective post-emergent labeled for use on your specific turf to target Poa Annua.  You would want to follow the most restrictive product label, and it is advisable to do a small tank or jar test prior, to make sure the mixture is stable before attempting a full tank application.  Additionally, unless you are in a southern most state where the temperatures are well over 50 degrees, this would not be an appropriate time for this application.  Please refer to our Lawn Care Schedule for the ideal time to apply post-emergent herbicides to your specific lawn type.

    Q
I've sprayed a fescue lawn with Q4 for timothy grass. Do I need to pull grass before reseed?
    A

Yes. You will want to remove weeds before reseeding. How long it takes Q4 Plus Turf to kill the weed will depend on the health and maturity of the weed. The weeds normally will start to die within one week of application but could take up to three weeks. A second application may be needed.
