We recommend waiting about two weeks or more after applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide before you aerate or dethatch the lawn. This is to allow enough time for the target plants to die completely before you dig up their roots.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is rainfast within 24 hours after application.
We do not have a post-emergent herbicide that will contain all 4 of the active ingredients you mentioned. Without knowing what weeds are being targeted, it is hard to make a recommendation. In most cases, tank mixing two herbicides is allowed if permitted on the product labels. You would follow the most restrictive label in regards to tank mixing. Q4 Plus tends to be the most popular for broadleaf weed control in cool-season turf. Here are some other options.
QuickSilver Herbicide contains Carfentrazone-ethyl
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone contains 2,4-D, mecoprop-p, dicamba and carfentrazone-ethyl.
E-2 Herbicide contains 2,4-D, Fluroxpyr, and Dicamba
Q4 Plus contains 2,4-D, Dicamba, Quinclorac and Sulfentrazone
Solitare Herbicide contains Quinclorac & Sulfentrazone.
Per the Q4 label: Application around a cistern or well may result in contanimation of drinking water or ground water.
Yes, Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is pet safe even if it rains within a day or two of the application, according to the manufacturer.
We do not recommend applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide to buffalograss since there is no mention of tolerability on the product label. We would recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see what you can use in your desired turf to kill buffalograss.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide will not harm your putting green, as long as the turf is listed as tolerant on the label and you apply when temps are below 80 degrees.
You should not spray Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide on or near any desirable flowers, shrubs, or other ornamentals, and do not use clippings from turf treated with Q4 as mulch around these plants. The active ingredients can harm desirable ornamentals and some of them may volatilize, so you want to be sure you spray on a calm day and do not contact roots, leaves, or stems of desirable ornamentals. You can shield desirable plants using plastic sheeting if needed.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can only be applied as broadcast twice a year with 30 days in between each application. You can spot treat if needed throughout the year staying below max labeled rates for your turf type.
It is recommended that you wait until the second or third mowing or at least 28 days after emergence to re-apply Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled to be used over groundcovers or monkey grass so would not be recommended. Depending on what you are treating for, a better option would be Fertilome Over the Top II. It is labeled to kill grassy weeds in lirope and various other ornamentals and ground covers.
You can water approximately 6 hours after application of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide. It is considered "rainfast" after this time. We do recommend waiting at least 24 hours before watering or irrigation for best results.
We would suggest doing a compatibility test before tank mixinging Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide & Fusilade Herbicide together. Using a small jar, mix both products according the tank mixing instructions on the more restrictive labeling of the two (Fusilade II product label) and look for separation and clumping.
Fusilade II is labeled to be used on Zoysiagrass but states it is not for use on home lawns. Q4 is labeled to control both bermudagrass and zoysiagrass and temporary discoloration should be expected and a test application should be done and wait 30 days before treating the entire yard. We recommend reviewing the Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass Advisements in Table 3 on the Q4 product label.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can potentially cause harm to desired plants like lilac. I would carefully spot spray areas near the lilac bush, and also wrap the lilac bush in a large garbage bag to protect it from any drift spray.
Yes, Q4 Plus is pet safe if used as directed on the product label. The dog should be kept out of the area during application, but can safely return once everything has dried.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is rainfast is 6 hours but is best applied when there is no rain expected within 24 hours after application.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can harm desirable ornamentals if sprayed directly or too much drift contacts them. It is recommended to apply on a calm, non- windy day to avoid contact.
The shelf life of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is 3-5 years if stored in a room temperature setting. This product should be kept out of extreme temperatures, which are under 35 degrees Fahrenheit and over 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide does not require the use of a surfactant. You could certainly use a marking agent with it.
Yes, Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can be applied at the same time as 21-0-7 fertilizer. As always be sure you are applying these products during the cooler times of the day when temps are below 85 degrees.
