    SedgeHammer + Herbicide is not labeled to control torpedograss.  You would be limited in what you can use based on your turfgrass type.

    Can I still eat the lemons if I sprayed SedgeHammer + Herbicide around the lemon tree?
    I wasn't thinking, and I sprayed Sedgehammer all around the base of my lemon tree. The tree is many years old, 10 ft tall, and mature. Is it safe to eat the lemons?

    Since SedgeHammer + Herbicide is not safe to be applied on or near citrus trees, or any other edible plants, we would recommend contacting the mnaufacturer, Gowan at (800) 883-1844 to see how the product may have affected the tree.

    Can I use SedgeHammer to kill Bermuda weeds? And not burn my St. Augustine grass
    A

    SedgeHammer + Herbicide will not control bermuda but is safe to use on St Augustine and Bermuda for the weeds listed on the product label.   Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the St. Augustine as well.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with Round Up/other non selective herbicide and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas.   It can take multiple applications to eliminate it and best time is in the spring as it is starting to green up.

    Is SedgeHammer + Herbicide safe on sedum ground cover?
    My sedum ground cover is infested with yellow nutsedge/nutgrass
    A

    No, SedgeHammer + Herbicide is not labeled to be applied over your sedum ground cover.   Most of the time you have to spot treat where the sedge is coming up with a glyphosate based product like the Glyphosel Pro being careful to spray as little of the ground cover as possible.

    SedgeHammer+ is labeled to control horsetail when it is less than 6 inches tall. If the horsetail is greater than 6 inches tall, this product will only suppress it. Please review the product label for more information.

    Is SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide safe for switchgrass to kill yellow nutsedge? Switchgrass is used for wildlife cover.

    SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide is not labeled safe or tolerant on switchgrass. Unfortunately, the best option for treating nutsedge in switchgrass would be use a non selective herbicide such as glyphosate and spot treat the weeds directly. You can harvest the switchgrass high enough to leave actively growing weeds, then apply glyphosate at 1 to 2 quarts per acre..It is important to wait until the switchgrass is dormant so that it is not damaged by the glyphosate.

    Check with your Extension agent or other experts for information on which herbicides are labeled for use in the state and county where you will be using them.

    Will Sedgehammer affect my cherry Laural hedge?
    Our hedge got hit by the big freeze and we had to chop it down to the base in March, it's already grown 2-3 feet… We have a nutsedge issue around the base of this 80' hedge… I've just pulled all the weeds and would like to spray sedgehammer, could this potentially affect the hedge (I think it's a cherry Laural)…

    Sedgehammer + Herbicide should not be should not be applied to any areas where there are desired ornamentals, flowers, shrubs, etc.  It should only be applied to turfgrass for nutsedge control, as it could potentially damage desirable vegetation.

    Can Sledgehammer kill the Blue Daze that has been infested by kyllinga?

    SedgeHammer Herbicide is labeled to control Kyllinga per the product label. The mix rate is 0.5 oz (13.5 grams) of this product (1 pouch) in 1 gallon of water to treat 1000 sq ft of turfgrass. For optimum Kyllinga control, 2 applications are recommended.

    Is SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide safe to use on sweet alyssum, purple verbena and heather?
    Nutsedge is throughout this area. I have been digging the nuts but I know I never will get them all.

    SedgeHammer + Herbicide can safely be applied to the turf grasses, Landscaped areas, and other non-crop areas listed on the label, but should not be applied to any desirable groundcovers, flowers or ornamental plants that are not listed, as it could cause injury.

    Does Sedgehammer kill horsetail? Mine is in my bark mulch, not my grass. Will Sedgehammer get through mulch?

    SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide is labeled for horsetail, however it is only labeled to be applied on turf. Diquat Water Weed and Landscape Herbicide will kill horsetail. Horsetail is very hard to control and it can be tough to properly penetrate through the plant. When using the Diquat you will need to mix it at the rate of 2- 4 oz per gallon of water and mix it with an 80% Non ionic surfactant.

    Will SedgeHammer affect existing/new milkweed?
    I have a pollinator garden with flowers and milkweed that nutsedge has invested. If I'm careful to get the sledgehammer just on the nutsedge foliage, will it affect the current milkweed? Will it prevent milkweed from sprouting next year?

    Can SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide be used to kill nutsedge in my monkey grass without injuring the monkey grass?

    SedgeHammer + Herbicide is not safe to be applied to monkeygrass (liriope). I would suggest using Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate instead as it safe for monkeygrass (liriope).

    Can I mix SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide with a hose end sprayer herbicide like Weed B Gone? If so how much should I add?

    SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide or any other herbicide cannot be added to other hose end herbicide containers for tank mixing nor are hose end sprayers recommended to apply Sedgehammer Plus. 

    For a better and more even coverage, SedgeHammer + Herbicide should be applied using a proper calibrated pressurized hand pump or backpack sprayer.

    How long after the weeds turn yellow from an applyication of SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide can the grass be pulled?

    It is recommended to wait 3 weeks after applying SedgeHammer + Herbicide to remove any dead weeds or grass in the area.

    Does Sedgehammer affect oak trees?
    My white oak tree, about 10 years old, has suddenly begun to have leaves turn brown and fall. It usually keeps its brown leaves all winter and drops them in spring, when the new growth appears. This starting happening about a week after Sedgehammer was applied by lawn maintenance company.

    The product label states that SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide kills nutsedge and other listed weeds without injury to turfgrass, established ornamentals, shrubs, and/or trees, however the manufacturer will know the specifics Gowan manufacturing (928) 783-8844.

    How long after spraying Sedgehammer Plus Herbicide for nutsedge would we have to keep backyard chickens out of the treated areas?

    SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide is not labeled for use in areas where there are grazing animals, companion animals or in grazing pastures. If these areas are treated, companion or grazing animals would need ot be kept out of the treated area for atleast 1 year post treatment.
