    Q
Can SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide be used to treat weeds in a mulch ring around oak trees without absorbing into the roots of the oak trees?
    A

SedgeHammer Herbicide should not be applied around groundcovers, ornamentals, vegetables, shrubs, trees, or flowers. It is to be applied to turf areas only.

For treating weeds under the canopy of desriable trees, bushes, shrubs, etc – it is recommended to spot treat weeds with a non selective herbicide like Roundup QuickPro as this will not leach into the soil or to nearby root systems. View the full product label for more information.

    Q
Will SedgeHammer Plus Herbicide kill woodsorrel in St. Augustine?
    A

Sedgehammer + Herbicide is only labeled to control Purple Nutsedge, Yellow Nutsedge, and Kyllinga and would not control woodsorrel.

For woodsorrel in St. Augustine lawns, Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer or Fertilome Weed Free Zone would be a better option.

    • Please note, Fertilome Weed Free Zone is not recommend to be used on Floratam or Bitterblue varieties of St Augustine unless discoloration and temporary injury can be tolerated. Other species of St Augustine would be safe if used at labeled rates.
View our Woodsorrel (Oxalis) Guide for more information.

Applying a pre emergent such as Pendulum 2G in early Spring and late Fall is recommended to prevent weeds from germinating. This will help cut back on the amount of post emergent applications during the actively growing season. View our Warm Season Lawn Care Schedule for more information.

    Q
After applying treatment, and the area starts to turn brown, then what?
    A
After the application of SedgeHammer + Herbicide you do not want to rake or pull the dead nutsedge out. If the plant is pulled it will just split off the rhizome and more new plants will grow from the nutlets left in the soil.

    Q
    Max Square Feet Per Packet
I purchased a couple packets of Sedgehammer + to treat my front and back yards that are infested with it this year. My front is 1k square feet, my back about 500 square feet. Would one packet be effective covering all 1500 square feet if I dissolve it in a bit more water or should I use one packet for the front and another for the back? If one packet per section, any advice on how to dispose of the excess I'd have left from the back yards application?
    A
SedgeHammer + Herbicide packets are designed to cover 1000 sq ft.
