SedgeHammer Herbicide
By Louie on 06/14/2015
I ordered this herbicide some 3 weeks ago, I mixed it according to the manufactures instruction, and sprayed the Sedge grass that is overtaking my flower garden. Only now 21/2 weeks later am I starting to see a little yellowing of the tips on the Sedge .

This stuff works
By John on 07/12/2016
We were return customers, having purchased a case over two years ago. We have neighbors with a bad nutsedge infestation so the grass makes its way into our yard every couple of years. We tried everything to kill it and nothing worked - until we found this product. Spray it on, wait 10 days or so, and your nutsedge problem will be done. Well worth the purchase price - and the vendor is awesome. Now, if I could just work up the nerve to spray my neighbor's yard too :-/

Sedgehammer Review
By Ben on 03/03/2017
I am having to put down a 2nd application of Sedgehammer because one application knock out everything. But, it did knock out a lot. I wanted spray before the sedge budded and spread across more of the yard. Sedge is killing our bermuda grass when it takes over. Once it seeds it will take over a lawn. Aedgehammer does work well, where Weed-B-Gone and other weed killers doesn't even affect it. If anybody knows of a better sedge killer I'd like to know about it?
Expert response:
Thank you for your comments! Sedgehammer is still our most popular nutsedge control product. It does take time to work all the way through and to kill the plants, and multiple applications are often needed because younger and/or mowed plants can be easy to miss among turfgrass. Another option for even faster burndown would be Dismiss Herbicide. Be sure to check the product label for tolerance on your turfgrass:

Verdict still out!
By Rodger on 05/29/2017
Great Product
By Jim on 06/13/2017
Very good product, worked every time I've used it. It works very slowly compared to other herbicides. I feel negative reviews are from not giving time for the product to work, it took weeks for the sedge to brown and die, the plant growth stopped almost immediately but remained green for weeks.

Doesn't Work
By Jeffrey on 06/25/2017
Works as advertised
By Ohioalan on 07/10/2017
My first application (about three weeks ago) of SedgeHammer worked as advertised. Within a few days the Nut Sedge began to pale and within a couple weeks - leafs and stem is bright yellow, dark brown on the tips and stopped growing. Unfortunately, some new Nut Sedge has cropped up, in other areas. Round 2 is about to commence. However, with a single small packet there is not enough to broadcast on an area - the option is to spot spray. This worked well the first time. I am going to stick with the plan.

It really wroks!
By Dc on 08/14/2017
I had a yellow sedge infestation all over my lawn. After just the first application of SedgeHammer, 90% of the sedge had died off. A second application to kill the remaining sedge was needed, and possibly a third as it can be easy to miss some when you have as much as I did. Now my lawn is 99% sedge free after only a month. It is important to follow the directions. The sedge leaf is what needs to be sprayed and the more leaf area you have the better the concentration. I would let my lawn grow for about 3-4 days and the sedge is about 2-3 times the height of the grass. Spray it and leave the lawn uncut for 3-4 more days to give the application time to work. Then cut the grass. About 5-7 days later all you will have are little yellow stumps that were the sedge and they break down in another week or two. I'm very pleased with the results.

not strong, weed come back
By Frank on 12/08/2017
Sorry but this Powder is not strong enough to kill Sedge weeds.
Expert response:
Thank you for your review. We apologize you did not receive the expected results. We would like to take some time out to help troubleshoot with you but will need a little more information. Could you please tell us the rate at which you used the SedgeHammer? Also depending on the size of the nutsedge a second application may be needed 6-10 weeks after the first application.

Sedge Hammer
By Kathleen on 06/15/2018
This is the only product I will ever use on nut sedge again. Plus I plan to tell the local Extention office about it. I've tried so many products and none worked. I got the small package because I had much less than 1,000 sf to treat. Within one week of use (around laurel bushes and variegated monkey grass) the sedge began to turn brown and die. It has not come back. I had a little left over, so one week later I sprayed it on another patch and it worked, too. You're not supposed to store Sedge Hammer, but..... It's a great product and I will re-order if sedge creeps into other sections of my yard.

It's finally working
By Carol on 07/20/2018
After two treatments and three weeks the Nutgrass is finally dying but I have a little more in another bed that needs treating. So, it would be nice if the packets were smaller so you could mix up a smaller amount to treat those areas since the Directions say you shouldn't save unused portions

Works great!
By Darrin on 09/02/2018
This product solved my nutsedge problem completely. It took 2 applications to completely eliminate it. I got the packets initially to make sure it was going to work before spending the money on the bottle. Now that I know it works I'll get the larger container if I get a new nutsedge outbreak.

SedgeHammer = Superb Results!

Awesome
By Kenneth on 04/26/2019
I had a 6' x 4 patch of yellow nutsedge in my otherwise perfect Centipede lawn. I tried a variety of herbicides to get rid of it but I didn't know exactly what it was. I spent a little time on Google and Determined it was Yellow Nutsedge. I purchased this and mixed in a one gallon pump sprayer and viola it's all gone. Took about 10 days but it seems to be 100% gone in one application.

Disappointed
By Larry on 06/07/2019
I had read great things about this product. It was extremely expensive. I have applied it twice and have gotten NO results. I live in central Florida with St Augustine lawn. I have some small areas of sedge in a couple locations in my lawn. I had hoped this would take care of it but have been completely disappointed. I used a pump up, tank sprayer using 1 scoop of the product mixed with 1 gallon of water and 2 tsp of Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker. Perhaps the sedge is green kyllinga (which is still a type of sedge) so the product should work but it doesn't.

Nut sedge killer
By Robert on 06/21/2019
I have tried many different products that claim to eliminate nut sedge and their performance was poor. I have used this product for several years now and when mixed as directed, it will knock out that invasive weed. The herbicide will not damage the lawn or other vegetation. A great product. I highly recommend using it.

Control of nutsedge with SedgeHammer
By Adam on 07/09/2011
Several years ago I had a new lawn put in. In the fall I noticed patches of nutsedge. The blades grow much faster and are larger than the grass. The only thing I have found to control the nutsedge is SedgeHammer. One application late in June is all that is required. The lawn looks great. It is inexpensive and easy to apply.
