    Q
Does Sevin Concentrate work for sawflies?
    A

Yes, Sevin Concentrate is labeled to kill sawflies. We would also recommend our Flies Be Gone Fly Trap for long term control. Flies Be Gone traps appeal strongly to a flies' natural instincts. It provides them with food and a warm place to lay eggs. Once inside the trap, they cannot escape. Flies Be Gone bait is especially appealing to female flies. Up to 85% of flies caught are female, which helps decrease the next generation of flies.

    Q
Will Sevin residue kill bees or future caterpillars?
Beetles have killed monarch caterpillars on my milkweed.
    A

Sevin Concentrate now contains zeta-cypermethrin which is a non-selective insecticide that will leave some residual. You can use a product like PyGanic Gardening if you want a contact kill with minimal residual. PyGanic Gardening can be used on ornamental and edible plants.

    Q
Can I use Sevin Concentrate on my lawn for Japanese beetles?
I have Japanese beetles bad, want to know what I can spray on lawn to kill them when they go back in ?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is not for use on turf, only for use on ornamentals and listed edibles for adult Japanese Beetles. For grub control in lawns and around ornamental plants, Dominion 2L (liquid) and Merit G (granule) are our most popular products. Tempo SC Ultra can be used for the adult beetles on ornamental plants. We have more great information and tips in our White Grub Guide here.

    Q
Can I use this to treat the ground around my grape vines and kill off Japanese beetles before they emerge?"
    A

Sevin Concentrate is best applied directly to the plants you need to treat for Japanese Beetles adults, it is not meant to be used just on soil.  Milky Spore would be a better option to treat for the Japanese Beetle grubs in the soil.

  • Asked by Sandy from Holly Springs, Ms
    07/26/2021
    Q
If I sprayed Sevin concentrate on the soil is it absorbed by nearby plants?
I sprayed Sevin around the base of my plants, including milkweed to stop army worms from getting in my flower beds. Is Sevin absorbed by the plants? I have monarch butterfly caterpillars that are eating that milkweed. Will it harm the caterpillars?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is not systemic so is not absorbed by the plants.  It is labeled to control many varieties and species of caterpillars so would kill any that feed off the plants foliage or areas that have been sprayed.
