On the bottle of Sevin Concentrate there should be a series of letters and/or numbers either on the bottom or top of bottle named LOT numbers. You can contact the manufacturer with that information and they can advise how old it is.

Sevin Concentrate, containing the active ingredient of Zeta-Cypermethrin, has a residual kill of up to 3 months when used as instructed on the product label. Keep in mind, however, that this product is not labeled for use inside of greenhouses. You can apply this to the exterior of structures and to plants outdoors.

Sevin Concentrate is white or beige in color and when mixed according to label instructions should form a clear solution that will also be clear when it dries. Any mixed solution should be used within 24 hours and the shelf life of the concentrate in it’s original container is 3-5 years when stored out of extreme temperatures.
Sevin Concentrate is not systemic so is not absorbed by the plants. It is labeled to control many varieties and species of caterpillars so would kill any that feed off the plants foliage or areas that have been sprayed.

The active ingredient Zeta-Cypermethrin contained in Sevin Concentrate could potentially harm beneficial nematodes, so we would not recommend applying at the same time. According to the product label for application to berries, Sevin Concentrate should be applied as a spot treatment for pest infestations on the berries. Apply spray mixture to upper and lower leaves, around fruit clusters, and on branches and trunks up to the point of runoff. Reapply if insects return, but not more than once every seven days and according to pre-harvest intervals.
Sevin Concentrate is not labeled for use on lawns. You can use Sevin Granules on lawns for ticks and fleas. For fleas, you would use 4-9 lbs per 1,000 square feet. Apply up to 3 times a year with at least 7 days between applications.
Keep in mind that Sevin is just a contact kill, so it will not have residual effect for fleas, ticks, or other listed pests. For a residual granule to use instead, you could use Talstar XTRA Granules every 30-60 days.

The normal protocol in the industry when using the same sprayer for multiple chemicals including Sevin Concentrate, is to triple rinse it between each use or use a tank cleaner. You would want to run clean water not only through the tank, but pressurize it to pump clean water through the pump itself, hose, wand and nozzle to clean them. As long as you do a thorough job rinsing it you can swap over to a new chemical right away in the same sprayer.
Sevin Concentrate is not labeled to be used on cannibas. We recommend that you contact your state pesticide board for what is approved for use on cannabis plants in your state since very few products are labeled for this use.
Sevin Concentrate is labeled for several types of maggots including a cabbage maggot but it is not directly labeled for turnip maggots. You will need to contact the manufacturer for more information.
