    Q
Will Garden Tech Sevin granules work on Zelus longipes assassin bugs?
I have the bugs crawling on my leafy bushes and my crate Myrtle. They are causing the leaves to turn spotted colors. I know that if they bite you it is very painful. I work in my garden a lot, so I need them to be gone. If I can't use this product, is there another product to use? Thank you for any information you can provide.
    A

Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules does not specifically list that species on the label. We would recommend that you consult with your local cooperative extension office for details on an effective product for the application.

    Q
Will Sevin Granules help kill squash bugs at the ground level?
    A

Unfortunately Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules  is not labeled to kill squash bugs. We do carry the Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10% Permethrin Insecticide that is labeled for squash bugs and will do great job controlling them when used as directed on the product label.

    Q
Does Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules treat and kill tapeworms in the soil?
    A

Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules is not specifically labeled to treat tapeworms nor are we aware of one on the market to treat for tapeworms in lawns. Tapeworms come from fleas carried by pets, rodents, and other wildlife therefore treating your lawn and surroundig areas to control the flea population, will help reduce the presence of tapeworms that can be picked up by household pets.

Sevin Lawn Insect Granules are labeled for fleas at the rate of 4lbs per 1000 sq ft and water is required to activate the granules. Water the application with atleast ½ inch of irrigation or light rainfall.
Another popular treatment recommendation for fleas outdoors is using a liquid insecticide + IGR (Insect Growth Regulator). Liquids allow you to treat the exterior foundation, around windows, doors, under eaves of the roof but also landscape beds and spraying the foliage on shrubs, trees, bushes, flowers, etc and other areas where fleas will congregate, breed and rest.

Talstar P tank mixed with NyGuard IGR would be a great monthly treatment applciation using Talstar P at 1 fl oz  + 12ml of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft of area.

Fleas like cool, damp and areas where there is moisture and shade. Focus on any areas of dense foliage and repeat applications of insecticides should be done every 30 days for active flea infestations.

For oral medication options, we recommend a monthly dewormer for tapeworms and also consulting with your Veternarian.

    Q
Will the Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules be effective for treating armyworms?
My 10,000 sq ft lawn is infested and almost lost. What is better - granules or spray?
    A

Yes, the Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules are labeled for armyworms.  When treating for armyworms to ensure optimum control, irrigate the treated area with up to 0.1 inches of water immediately after application to activate (release from the granule) the insecticide. This product is not one that will kill the listed pests on contact.  It will take time. There are several factors like the severity of an infestation that will play a part in how long it takes to gain complete control.

    Q
How long should one wait to over seed some bare areas after training with Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules?
    A

Since the Sevin Insecticide Granules do not have any herbicidal properties, you could apply grass seed any time after applying the insecticide granules. We would just recommend that if you are going to aerate or do other soil modification, you probably will want to do that before applying your insecticide or wait until several days after so that you do not disturb the application.

    Q
Does it matter which kind of spreader use
Can I use a drop spreader to apply?
    A
According to the manufacturer's product label, Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules can be applied by either a broadcast spreader or a drop spreader.  For drop spreader applications, apply granules with spreader going in the same direction as the longest part of the lawn.  Apply two header strips first.  To ensure thorough coverage, make sure to overlap wheel marks.  Shutoff the spreader when finished or when the header strips have been reached.  You can refer to the linked product label above for complete application instructions, and use as directed.

    A
Yes, it is recommended to use a ground or hand spreader for an accurate application. If there is no rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours, you may irrigate immediately after the application. Watering the Sevin granules in is what activates the granules.
