    Q
Will Sevin Insecticide Granules be okay if watered several days later?
I just applied the granules to the grassy area where I take my dog outside at my apartment. I didn't realize that it needs to be watered down afterwards, and there are no watering hoses at the apartment, however, it's supposed to rain in a few days. Will the rain in a few days work, or will I need to reapply by then? Also, will it be safe to take my dog outside in the meantime?
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules need to be watered in immediately after application to activate the granules.  While it might be ok for rain a few days later, to get the most effectiveness we would recommend applying right before it rains.  Pets should be kept out of treated areas after watering in until dry.  If there are any dry granules on the ground for the dog to pick up, it would be recommend to keep your dog out of that area until the rain.

    Q
Can I use Sevin Insecticide Granules around lime trees or any other trees?
I found that I have grub worms 3 feet away from my lime tree and they are spreading closer to it. Am I able to use sevin around my tree? How close can I use sevin to the tree?
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules can be used around lime trees, but for grubs, we recommend another product called Milky Spore.  Sevin will not penetrate to the thatch layer to treat the grubs.

  • Asked by Tony from Ocean Isle Beach

    Q
Can Seven Insecticide Granules be used to kill earth worms to help eliminate moles?
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules are not labeled to kill earthworms but do work for white grubs, which are another food source of moles. There are no products on the market in the USA that are labeled for earthworms as they are largely beneficial creatures.  There are a few known control methods that include cutting back on irrigation so that the worms will go deeper into the soil for the moisture they require to survive or fertilizing your lawn after a heavy rainfall which will eliminate some of the population.

    Q
I put down Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules and had a light rain two days after. Will it still be good at bug prevention?
    A

Most granules like the Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules need to be watered in after application to activate the ingredients. A light rain however is all that would be needed or watering in. If it was watered and dried and rained after, the product application would still be effective for the listed pests.

    Q
Treating ground ant colonies in the yard. I used 1/3 cup of Sevin to sprinkle over a 1-2 ft circle not working ?
I watered the granules in ant colonies still very active making new large hole entrances 5 days later how long do this take to work ?
    A

Per the Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules: Treat ant mounds by applying ½ cup of this product per mound. Water with sufficient force to break its apex and allow the insecticide to flow into the ant tunnels, but not sufficient to significantly damage the mound that may lead to relocation.  For best results, apply in cool weather (65 to 80?F) or in early morning or late evening hours. Treat new mounds as they appear. This product will provide control of ant mounds within four hours

Treatment should be done as long as you are seeing new activity and may require both mound treatments and broadcasting the product in the yard.

    Q
We using Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules on our lawn, how dangerous is it if the dog chews the grass?
    A

Dogs should not be present and the areas need to be completely dry prior to their return when using Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules. Manufacturers of products applied in the lawn have it mind that some dogs will chew small portions sometimes. If the dog eats a lot of grass, you may want to seek advice from your local vet as this could be due to another concern.

    Q
I have a hand held spreader settings show 1-5. What would be the recommended setting?
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting to apply Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules is as follows:

If you need to use 1.15 lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft, then you would add 1.15 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high
