    The fan motor in my Solo 451 Mist Blower makes a rattling sound at idle speed. What could be causing this?

    You may have a screw or fitting loose in the Solo 451 Mist Blower that is causing the rattling.  We would first recommend to check all connecting parts to be sure everything is connected securely.  If the problem persists, then we would suggest contacting Solo directly to troubleshoot.     Can Essentria IC3 be used in the Solo 451 mist blower?
    I have 2 acres of waterfront property with horrible mosquito and no seeum problems. In addition to concern for the river aquatic life, I also have dogs, cats and an outdoor pool. Is essentria IC3 the best product in this situation? Will the solo 451 mist blower be an efficient way to apply essentria IC3?

    We contacted Solo and they said that any herbicide or insecticide can be used in the Solo 451 unit so yes the Essentria IC3 can be used and would be a good choice for use near a water source.  Pets should be out of the area while you are doing the treatment until it dries typically 30 mins - 1 hour.

    Chemicals to use in the Solo 451 Mist Blower
    I recently purchased the 451, and after reading previous Q/A is assume that any pesticide that is liquid based and diluted with water is acceptable to use in the blower, correct? I'm using Talstar P for Mosquito control, but I want to use Demand CS around the outside of the house for more bug control. Is this acceptable to use in the blower?

    Demand CS is acceptable to be used in a Solo 451 Mist Blower. You will use 0.2-0.8 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water depending on what you are treating for.

    Is there a product for a Solo 451 Mist Blower that will control biting flies?

    We recommend to mix Talstar and Archer in the Solo 451 Mist Blower to control flying insects including biting flies. You would dilute 1 oz of Archer with 1 oz of Talstar per gallon of water.

    What should the liquid dosage control on the Solo 451 Mist Blower be set to?
    What should it be set at? A 4-position liquid dosage control permits you to have a selectable output from 0.12 to 0.89 GPM.

    Most users will set the Solo 451 Mist Blower at the 1st or 2nd setting on the 4-way dosage control. If you are using a higher setting, then you will need to walk very quickly to avoid applying too much product in an area. We would suggest testing the sprayer with just water so that you can get used to how quickly it dispenses spray before adding your insecticides.

    After the 25:1 break in period can you use 40:1 (oil mix) for this sprayer?

    Is it necessary to have a pump on my Solo 451 for mosquito control?

    The Liquid Booster Pump is not required for use with the Solo 451, it would be used if you would want to increase formula output and application range only.

    Why is a booster pump needed for a Solo 451?
    I am interested in purchasing the Solo 451 however I am more than a little concerned about individuals asking about the need for a booster pump. What company manufacturers the 2-cycle engine on the Solo 451. The warranty of only 90 days seems to indicate a lack of reiablity? Maybe I should purchased the Sthil 450?

    Most applications do not require a booster pump for the Solo 451. You can view the operation of this machine in our video on the product page. The warranty on the engine itself is two years. Solo manufacturers all their own engines in Germany.

    What would be the best thing to use for getting rid of black widow spiders inside a fabrication building?
    We are in the middle of nowhere and we run 24/7 so we have lots of lights which attract all flying insects so we have a bunch of food for spiders. We have been using Suspend with a pump sprayer but the building is so large and has many overhead beams where the spiders are hard to get to. Would I be able to use the Solo Backpack with the Suspend in this location?

    The Solo 451 Mist Blower is only for use in outdoor settings.  It is gas powered and the manufacturer does not advise that it can be used indoors.  We would recommend looking into a batter operated backpack sprayer instead such as the Solo 461.  You may use which ever product you would like but you will have to shut down the facility for a few hours while you are applying the product until it dries.  All insecticide products are labeled to be applied in unoccupied areas only so no one can be around the areas that you are treating.
