Product Overview

Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is a soil-applied selective herbicide that provides effective pre and post emergent control of broadleaf, grass and sedge weeds. It contains 39.6% of Sulfentrazone as its active ingredient which constrain enzymes in order to release singlet Oxygen and help disrupt cellular membranes. This results to an effective control of unwanted weeds in warm and cool season turfgrasses such as bahiagrass, buffalograss, carpetgrass, centipedegrass, kikuyugrass, zoysiagrass, bermudagrass, bentrgrass, fescue, ryegrass, bluegrass. It also guarantees tough control on weeds like black medic, pigweed, spurge, barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, goosegrass, chickweed, groundsel, carpetweed, clover, dandelion, dollarweed, ground ivy, henbit, plantain, kyllinga, nutsedge, but gentle on established grass.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Apply Sulfentrazone 4SC Select as a broadcast treatment at rates indicated, in enough water to obtain good coverage and to make at least 10 gallons finished spray per acre. In order to assure appropriate amounts of moisture for activation, best results will be obtained if Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is applied in early spring, late summer or fall. Make application with a boom and nozzle sprayer or boomless application system. Make application at spray pressure of 25 psi or below, unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise. Achieve best possible spray delivery and coverage, with minimum amounts of fine spray droplets by utilizing properly chosen and adjusted nozzles, spray tips, and screens.

Best control is achieved with grassy weeds when applied with grasses are actively growing and small (pre tiller stage). Application rates lower than 12 fl. oz./ acre will control grasses for 60 days.

Optimum control of broadleaf weeds will occur if application is made shortly after weed emergence.

Applications to sprigged, overseeded or reseeded areas: turfgrasses can be sprigged, overseeded or reseeded after Sulfentrazone 4L Select applications. Best results are obtained from waiting at least 1 month after Sulfentrazone 4L Select application before sprigging, overseeding or reseeding. If slight plant response can be tolerated, overseeding of Bermudagrass with perennial ryegrass can be done between 2 to 4 weeks after Sulfentrazone 4L Select application.

Observing proper fertilization, irrigation and soil cultivating practices, and using mechanical or power seeding equipment will give optimum overseeding or reseeding results.

Optimum weed control is obtained with thorough spray coverage.

Application Rates:

Apply 8 - 12 oz. per acre

    Works well on Kyllinga

    By Jp on 06/02/2018

I had a pretty serious invasion of Kyllinga in a section of my northern grass lawn (Ky bluegrass, fine & tall fescues, and perennial rye mix). In early May (typical daytime temps 80*F), I applied Sulfentrazone 4L at a 6 oz./acre rate with a 2gal pump sprayer with a fan tip. At this rate, it killed broadleaf weeds in 48 hours or less. The Kyllinga took 3-4 weeks to die, as did a few spots of nutsedge, but control was very effective. It did no notable damage to the lawn grasses. Note that at this rate, the amount of product to use is very small. In 2 gallons of water I used 0.135 fl. oz. (3/4 tsp or 4mL) of product sprayed over +/- 1000 square feet. I have not yet used it with the intent of broadleaf weed control, but it seems that it would be very effective for this. I do plan to use it for late summer/early autumn pre-emergent weed control, but that will have to be a separate review.

    Excellent for Nutgrass

    By Steve on 08/16/2019

One heaping teaspoon per gallon of water with Sticker eradicated my nutgrass in Tall Fescue. You have to be diligent about catching all small thin new eruptions or go back a Tim or two to catch all new growth. Excellent product!

St. Augustine Bitter Blue and Floratam

    By Darrel on 04/08/2019

    Verified Purchase

I live in central Florida and have a mix of St. Augustine, Centapede,Zoysia,Bermuda grass. The label states it stunts St.Augustine. Well, it does. I applied this middle March and I thought I may loose my lawn. It is now the first week of April and the lawn is turning green again. I know it has killed some weeds but the full effect is unknown so far. Use on the low end of the recommended dose and be prepared.

    Killed most of my goosegrass

    By Trs on 10/11/2019

Killed most of my goosegrass. Not as effective against larger weeds, but I'll be better prepared next year. Killed all of the nutsedge.
