Q
What is the difference between "ionic" and "non-ionic" surfactants?
A

Ionic

When the hydrophilic part of the surfactant consists of a negatively charged group like a sulphonate, sulphate or carboxylate the surfactant is called ionic. Basic soaps are ionic surfactants.

NonIonic

A surfactant with a non-charged hydrophilic part, e.g. ethoxylate, is non-ionic.

Q
TO KILL ROACHES OR FLEAS IN A HOME WOULD IONIC OR NON IONIC WORK BETTER!

MIXED WITH INSECTICIDE. WHICH ONE AND WHY?

A
It is not necessary to mix a surfactant, such as Surf AC 910 with insecticides. It is intended to be a sticker to help insecticides stick to surfaces.

Q
Can you explain the difference between Surf-AC 820 & 910 other than percentage of active ingredient?

I'm going to use a non-ionic surfactant when I spray my St. Augustine (Flortam) yard with astrizine and BifenXTS. Which non-ionic surfacant do you recommend? I live in the TampaBay area.

A

The difference between Surf AC 820 and Surf AC 910 is the amount of alcohol ethoxylate in each product.

We generally recommend Southern Ag's Non-Ionic Surfactant. It a very good product that can be mixed with insecticides and herbicides.
