    Q
Do you recommend Demon, Suspend SC or some other?
A local professional company uses Demon. I assume that is Demon WP Insecticide. After reading your info and watching your video what do you recommend for general home use?
    A
Suspend SC and Demon WP are both synthetic pyrethroid products and both offer great control of general pests. Demon WP will last a bit longer outdoors and since it is a wettable powder it also stays on the surface of porous areas such as concrete or wood which creates a greater opportunity for insects to come into contact with it. The downside to this is that Demon WP will leave behind a white powdery residue that is especially noticeable on dark surfaces. Both Demon WP and Suspend SC can be used indoors for pest control but because of the white powdery residue that Demon WP can leave behind it may be best to stick with Suspend SC for this use

    Q
Some concerns from a parent and pet owner.
My wife and I live in a small 3 bedroom house and have been having some problems with carpet beetles. We did a good vacuuming last fall and had no additional problems through the winter. Now this past week in March as the weather is starting to warm, I've been noticing adult beetles crawling around, more so in the kitchen area. We do not know how where they are getting in. They like to hang out around the stove and refrigerator (where we did a very thorough cleaning last fall because of them). We also noticed some larvae behind our couch because it's up against a wall and also under our bed around the baseboards. I have two questions: 1. Can this be applied to crevices where the baseboard meets the carpet? I was not sure if this would be OK or not since carpet is porous. I would only be treating the crevices, not the entire carpet area of course. Is this an acceptable application of the product? Or would I need something specifically for porous services? 2. I want to try doing the pest control on my own, but my main concern is obviously the safety of my child and pets. I know that this is safe for pets and kids after things have dried, but our child is 16 months old and into everything. I obviously would allow time for the product to completely dry. But say my kid decides for some reason he wan't to lick the carpet in the area that was treated and dried, (even though we try to keep an eye on him at all times), would there be a danger if something like that were to happen? Same question if a pet licked a dry treated area. These are my two main concerns about doing the treatment myself. Your answers are truly appreciated.
    A
Yes, it seems that you are taking all the correct steps to treat for carpet beetles. Please review our Carpet Beetle control page. Along with persistant vacuuming, application of Suspend, we recommend to also use Gentrol IGR. Gentrol will further break down the reproduction cycle. Rest assured that after dilution, there is only a large enough active ingredient to kill small insects. Treated areas are safe for children and pets to be around after haing dried. This will take 1-2 hours. Please call us at 866-581-7378 so that we can better assist you with your treatment.

    Q
I have varied carpet beetles that emerged 3 mos. after suspend and gentrol . Should I now use pheremone traps
I have been spraying outside perimeter with home defense and placed boric acid tablets in basement and attic.
    A
It sounds like the beetles were either re-introduced to the home or there was some larvae that are just now emerging. You can likely do another spray with the Suspend and Gentrol and get control over what is left. While you could try the beetle pheromone traps the vacuuming, cleaning and spraying of the residual insecticides will be the most effect. For further tips on carpet beetle control you can refer to our articles "Varied Carpet Beetle Identification and Biology" and "How To Get Rid of Carpet Beetles".

    Q
Can the Suspend Sc be used in the 2 gal spray mixture with the nyguard igr?
We have many pests running around on our lawn turf with 4 dogs that is bound to happen. I am now taking the oppurtunity to pick up feces, our critters consist of many kind of roaches beetles and whatever else is attracted to the poops. So I am hoping that this will knock them out completely, so will it even be necessary to include the igr for additional killing power? Thank You In Advance!
    A
Yes, the Suspend SC will do a great job of controling roaches, beetles as well as most any other lawn pest. Depending on the amount of insects present in your area will play a part in how long it will take for the population to dwindle until its gone. Spraying once every 30 days or so in the beginning will help control the population well and then you may be able to back off to spraying only once ever 60 days or so. You can mix the IGR into the mixture with the Suspend for added control to stop the insects reproductive cycle. As long as you keep pets and children out of the area while you are doing the treatment and until the areas have completely dried (30 min-2 hours) it is completely safe.

    Q
I have sprayed with Suspend SC but still active with small ants (slowed down, but still there). They look like tiny black ants and move very fast. I think they came in with mail.
    A
Suspend SC is a great general pest control concentrate. However, the ants will have to contact the treated areas in order to be eradicated. For small black ants outside, I would recommend applying Termidor SC (1ft up and 1ft out) directly around the exterior foundation. I would also apply InVict Xpress Granules to areas that have activity in the lawn.

    Q
    Ants
I have been using Suspend SC but this year I have small ants that seem to be coming from the ground and trees. What is most effective for these? There looks like small mud mounds in the area, they must have a hotel underground.
    A
Suspend SC is still one of the best ants sprays on the market. Suspend can be sprayed as a broadcast or spot treatment on the lawn, on bushes, shrubs, trees and as a perimeter treatment around the foundation of your home. It is difficult to identify the specie of ant that you have without having a visual of the ant available. Please call us at 866-581-7378 for further assistance identifying the ant specie if needed.

    Q
I am not sure if I am trying to treat silverfish or springtails insects. Is Suspend sc good for both?
My home holds alot of moisture and I find these insects on siding of house, near air conditioner, in sink, in between cracks of cincrete, moist, dark areas, and occasionally through vents of my home. What is the best solution. I currently am using Suspend SC. Help?
    A
Suspend SC is a great product and will treat for both Springtails and Silverfish. We would recommend having the pest identified, because there are baits that can be used for Silverfish. If you can take a clear pictire, please email it to [email protected]

  • Asked by Rick from Mooresville North Carolina
    05/22/2014
    Q
    What kills flying ants?
How do you get rid of giant black flying ants?
    A
The winged flying ants will usually die in short order on their own because they are not able to fly off and secure a new nesting area for themselves. If you want to speed along the process you can use Microcare, a pyrethrin based aerosol. You should note that winged ants indoors most likely indicates an ant infestation somewhere in the home or under the home. You should carefully inspect the bathroom and try to find where the ants are emerging. You may even try to get a trail to start by placing a notecard with a dab of peanut butter and a dab of honey. Do NOT disturb the ant trail. By getting the ants to start a trail you will be able to figure out where the ants are entering into the bathroom and you will be able to directly treat the area with a product like Phantom or with ant baits. Please take a few minutes to read our article Getting rid of ants to learn more.

  • Asked by Glen from Sherman, Ct
    05/23/2014
    Q
    Pond water as carrier
Will Suspend SC still be effective if you use a pond or lake as the water source for mixing. Is there usually too much organic material or ph issues that will render solution useless? If okay, approximately how long can you store the mixed solution before it becomes useless?
    A
Pond water should be absolutely fine for you to use to mix the Suspend SC with when treating around your home and the water ph should not cause any problems. You only want to mix up what you plan to use as anything mixed needs to be used with 24-48 hours after being combined.

    Q
Will Suspend SC protect against carpenter bees when sprayed on Cedar
I built a cedar pergola and carpenter bees have shown interest in it. Can I spray the pergola with Suspend SC to protect? If yes, how often should I reapply? The pergola does get direct sun in Pennsylvania.
    A
Suspend SC will treat for Carpenter bees. Since it is in direct sunlight, we recommend Suspend Polyzone which has a stronbger polymer to stand up to UV rays and create a lower release of active ingredient. You would want to reapply once every 2-3 months.

  • Asked by Dan from Laveen, Az
    06/01/2014
    Q
Will a mixed batch create an odor over time?
I've been using Suspend SC for about a year. I normally make a gallon at a time and use about 1/2 gallon per treatment. This batch (made a month ago) smelled like rotten eggs. Going forward, I'm going to only make as much as I need, but I'm curious if leaving the mix for a month caused the odor. It's never happened before. Thanks!
    A
Yes, leaving a mixed batch of Suspend SC may cause the mixed soulution to have a foul odor if left in the sprayer for an extended period of time. You should always mix what you need and perform a triple rinse when you are done.

    Q
Have carpenter bees using suspend sc only reach with pump sprayer, anything better?
    A
We are unsure if you are asking about a better pump sprayer for better application and reach with the spray, or if you are asking about a better product for control of carpenter bees. For a sprayer with better reach than a general hand pump sprayer, you could look at using the Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer which will allow a spray reach of at least 30 feet. If you are looking for a product that could be a little better than the Suspend SC you are currently using, they Cyonara 9.7 is a great cost effective option that will hold up to the outdoor elements a little longer and sit on the surface more for better coverage and control. Or you could get our complete Carpenter Bee Kit as well for the best control over the entire population in and on your home.

A good combination for ticks and mosquito control in MA is the insecticide Suspend SC and the IGR Pivot 10. They can both be shipped to your state.

    Q
How do I eliminate chiggers in my yard? We have 4 acres with a pond.
    A
I would recommend Suspend SC for chiggers in your yard. One gallon of solution treats about 1,000 sq. ft. so you would need over 43 gallons of solution for just one acre.
