Talstar PL Granular Insecticide - Questions & Answers

No, Talstar PL does not kill grubs. We recommend that you treat in the Spring with something like Merit Granules. We recommend that contact your local cooperative extension office to find out what the best time to treat is in your area. If it's too late to treat and the grubs are actively feeding, then you can use Dylox 420 SL. Our article "How to Get Rid of Grubs" will help guide you.

Talstar PL Granules are applied with a granule spreader at the rate of 2.3 to 4.6 lb per 1000 sqft.  Please refer to the product label for more specific tick control instructions.  Granule products will only control the young stages of ticks really as these are the ones in the soil.  For adult control it is recommended to use sprays such as those in our Outdoor Tick/Flea Kit.  We also have some great advice here.

If the Talstar PL Granules product label is followed, then the granules will not be available for your dog to ingest. Usually, the granules are applied to the lawn and then immediately watered in, sending the insecticide into the soil and thatch layer. Your dog should be removed from the yard prior to the application and should not return until the application is dry. And don't forget, you can save money by purchasing the Talstar PL Granules and applying them yourself and you can have piece of mind knowing that the product label was followed.
