If you have purchased Termidor SC from us and completed the proper trench treatment around the foundation of your home (outlined in the guide below) then that is all the protection you would need to do. Treating the surface of the soil with a liquid or granule in your lawn will not prevent or keep termites away. Termites in their natural environment are actually beneficial insects and most homeowners have them in their yard without ever knowing it as everything is in balance. If you know where a particular colony or activity of termites in the soil is in a particular area you can always drench the soil in that spot with a product like Talstar P.
Talstar P can be used for fire ant control, but you will also need to do mound drenching. According to the Talstar P product label, "Fire Ant Mound control is optimized by combining broadcast applications that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound drenches that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application or use a high volume application. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.5 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. Use enough finished volume to penetrate thatch or sod. Treat mounds by applying 1 oz of Talstar P per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12
You do not need to water the lawn before or after an application of Talstar P and Archer IGR for fleas according to the product label. Just be sure you are using the correct amount of product per gallon of water/coverage area.
Talstar P is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with (including fleas, ticks and mosquitos) and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets. A hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer would be the preferred, but the method of application will not determine the results of the product.
As a general prevention for indoor and outdoor control Talstar P is one of the most trusted and widely-used insecticides by pest control professionals today. Talstar P has a long residual control. so it keeps on killings pest sfor over three moneths after you have sprayed it. We recommend to use 0.33 to1 fluid ounce per gallon of water to be applied either as a crack and crevice, pinstream, spot, coarse, low pressure spray of with a paint brush. You will want to limit repeat applications to no more than once per seven days.
Talstar P will do a great job for boxelder bugs! We do not recommend that you use soap with the Talstar P or any other insecticides. The Talstar P may be used to spray directly on the plant foliage and it can be used inside and outside of the home. Please take a moment to look at our "How to Get Rid of Boxelder Bugs" article for more detailed information about this type of pest.
Unfortunately, Talstar P is not labeled to be used on edible vegetables. Please click the link below for a list of products that can be applied to edibles.
All of the surfaces that were incorrectly sprayed will need to be thoroughly washed with soap and water to remove the product. After the areas have been washed they will be safe to use again.
Talstar P is labeled for ticks, however we would recommend you use our Outdoor/Indoor Flea and Tick Kit for the issue that you are asking about. This kit would include everything that is needed to treat both indoors and outdoors for a ticks infestation.
Please see out Treatment Guide for more information on how to get rid of ticks.
You can do a tank mix with Talstar P and GrazeonNext HL Herbicide however, you would NOT mix them if the pasture land you are treating is being used by any type of animals. The Talstar P is not labeled for use on any grazing pastures.
We do not recommend to spray Talstar P or any other liquid around electrical outlets. We recommend to dust in those areas. Please see our Dust and Dusters page.
No, Talstar is not labeled to be used around ponds, lakes or other water sources. We recommend using EcoVia EC that is labeled for use and kills of a wide range of flying and crawling insects.
EcoVia EC can safely be applied in and around homes, businesses, near and over water such as boat docks and pool areas without harming aquatic life, as well as numerous other areas. Please follow label instructions for your target pest and application.
Talstar P shoudl be mixed at the rate of 1 oz. per gallon of water. It is safe for pets when used as directed. You should always follow the application rates that are listed on the product label.
Talstar P is a great choice for general pest control. Keep in mind that earthworms are beneficial and will not be listed on any insecticide labels. Another excellent option for a climate with very hot summers would be Suspend Polyzone, which is encapsulated in a polymer layer for better longevity in heat and sunlight. You may also want to take a few moments to review our General Pest Prevention Guide for more tips and information.
While Talstar P is labeled for roaches, it is not generally recommended as there can be resistancy issues within a roach population with a product like this. We would recommend using a product like Temprid SC instead. Temprid SC has two active ingredients in it to combat a roach infestations, and doesn't have the resistancy issues that a product with only one active ingredient might have. You may want to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing roaches.
Depending on what you are treating for, you may definitely use the Talstar P and your choice of IGR with it. It is not necessary for you to mix two IGR's with the Talstar P. Either NyGuard or Archer IGR and Talstar can be mixed into the same gallon of water and sprayed for control of Fleas, Stored Product Pests, listed Roaches (German, Asian, and Brown-banded), Crickets, Litter Beetles, and Flying Insects.
