A broad-spectrum insecticide such as Talstar P could potentially kill bees if they are sprayed directly or if they contact the treated areas. For this reason, we do not recommend spraying residual insecticides on flowering plants, and we recommend spraying in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active. There is a product called Mavrik Perimeter which is non-toxic and non-repellent to honey bees once dry. Another option would be to use a repellent such as Mosquito Barrier which is only a repellent once dry.
Talstar works great for mosquito control. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or where you are trying to provide relief. It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out during the heat of the day. Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control. When treating for mosquitoes we also recommend the use of an IGR like Tekko Pro. Tekko Pro IGR contains the active ingredient Pyridine that imitates a growth hormone and prevents full develop in immature mosquitoes.
A mask is not required to apply Talstar P if you are applying in a well-venitlated area. If you are applying in a small, confined space with poor ventilation, you can use something like the N95 Valved Respirator Mask. Please be advised that we are only able to ship within the U.S. at this time.
It is usually recommended to clean a sprayer by triple rinsing with clean water. You can also use a tank cleaner.
