    Q
What TeeJet nozzle tip should be used for spraying around eaves for hornets?
What tee-jet nozzle tip would you recommend for spraying Talstar P on the eaves and siding of a home to control wasps and spiders? Also, should it be done at high or low psi from a backpack sprayer (20 or 40 psi).
    A

Concentrates such as Talstar are not considered to be contact kills, especially for wasps and spiders. Even if you got close enough with a mist application from your backpack sprayer, the spray would not kill a wasp fast enough. They would die, but not right away. You can spray surfaces so when wasps land on the surface they will pick up the spray and die, but they will not die right away. The only product that provides fast knockdown of larger flying insects like wasps and hornets is Wasp Freeze, which comes in an aerosol can but it shoots over 15 feet so you can knock them down from a safe distance

A better option would be to use dust where you see them coming and going and as they are doing so will pick up and carry back to the nest. Tempo Dust would be great to use in a hand duster.

Any type of a fan nozzle would be best for spraying the eves.  For most sprayers, you have to buy their nozzles in order to fit their sprayer.

    Q
Talstar P should be stored in a cool dry place. Keep away from extreme temperatures.
I live in Northern Virginia. Define extreme temperatures. Once and awhile, we do get below freezing for a few days stretch, and in the Summer we do get above 90 degrees for several days at a time.
    A

Storing Talstar P Professional Insecticide in a room temperature enviroment (between 45 and 75 degrees) would give you the best shelf life. If you are storing it outside in a shed when there is freezing temps & the product were to freeze, it would need to be disposed of

    Q
Will Talstar P Professional Insecticide kill Lady bugs?
Will this product kill lady bugs? If not which products will kill lady bugs and stink bugs in Illinois?
    A

Yes, Talstar P is labeled for stink bugs and lady bugs. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will be used to spray around baseboards, cracks and crevices to help kill those that contact a treated area.

The Overwintering Kit is an excellent combination of products that protects you during your winter months with an insecticide and a dust. We generally do recommend at least using a dust with any other product, such as Talstar P, that you are using as an added protection to consider using throughout the year.

    Q
Can you treat in the rain or when it’s sprinkling with Talstar P Professional Insecticide?
When it’s sprinkling outside or raining I would like to know if this product can be used.
    A

When applying Talstar or most other insecticides, it is best applied during dry weather and you want to make sure the product has at least 6 hours of full dry time prior to rain or watering to ensure it is completely rainfast though 24 hours is best.  At the highest rate it has a residual up to 30 days.

    Q
Sprayed my yard and around peach tree with Talstar P Professional Insecticide
My peach tree is about 5 to 8 years old. I believe it has some moth in it. It produces the sweetest juseist peaches the last 2 years I had to toss most of them because the fruit has small holes and a jelly like ozzie leaking out of them. I sprayed 2 weeks ago when can I spray again. The peaches are on the tree now and I'm seeing the same things on them. If you have a different idea for me I would be happy to read it.
    A

Talstar P is not labeled to treat any edible vegetation, so it should NOT be sprayed on the fruit, the tree, the soil around the tree, or the root zone. The manufacturer does recommend that you discard any fruit from the tree for this growing season if the tree was sprayed with Talstar P.

We would recommend that you use Monterey Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench in the future because it is labeled for fruit trees. Please see the product label for additional information.

    Q
Does talstar take care of ticks, deer ticks specifically and is it safe for pollinators? Thanks
    A

Talstar P Professional Insecticide is a liquid insecticide that is labeled to treat ticks. It can be harmful to pollinators if they land on any of the areas where the product has been applied. To reduce the risk to pollinators, we recommend applying the product either early in the morning or late in the evening when they are less active.

    Q
Will Talstar P harm honey bees? I have hives 200 feet from my yard I'd like to treat.
    A

Yes, Talstar P is not a selective insecticide and it will kill any insects that come into contact with treated areas.  You can reduce the risk to your bees by keeping applications away from areas where the bees are actively foraging,  avoid blooming plants, and at times when the bees are not active in general, early morning or later in the evening.  And keeping applications at least 25 feet away.

    Q
Can I mix permethrin sfr together with Talstar P?
Can I mix both products together and apply it all at once in a backpack fogger or should they be kept separate for mosquito control?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% and Talstar P should not be mixed together. That would be over-application. You can mix Talstar with Exponent for a super kick against insects. Permethrin SFR is not labeled to be used in a fogger.

Talstar is not designed to be used in a fogger of any sort, only sprayers or large mist blowers like a Solo 451. Using Talstar or any other insecticide not designed for a fogger could clog your equipment or lower the efficacy of the product as the ingredients are not designed for this type of application. You may want to consider some of our Fogging Concentrates to see which best fits your needs and type of fogger. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I was to spray for mosquitoes at my restaurant. We have several pare trees planted for shade. Area is all concrete, minus the areas that have tree. No food prep in the area. Only outdoor seating
    A

The Talstar P is a great professional product to use around any indoor/outdoor setting including Perimeters, Athletic Fields, Greenhouses, Kennels, Parks, Restaurants, Lawns, Turf-grass, Landscapes Ornamental Trees & Shrubs. However, it can NOT be sprayed near or directly on the pear tree. Talstar P should NOT be sprayed on the fruit, the tree, the soil around the tree, or the root zone. Q
    Does this kill carpenter bees?
    A

Yes, Talstar P is labeled for and will help eliminate bees. To use Talstar P for carpenter bee control you should mix 1 oz of Talstar per 1 gallon of water and spray the areas where you have noticed activity such as the eaves, fascia boards, moldings, overhangs, or siding. You should reapply the Talstar P once a month through the warm season for the est results. Please note that Talstar P will not offer an instant knockdown of insects, it will take several minutes to a few hours for them to die after they come into contact with treated areas. We also recommend dusting the carpenter bee holes with dust such as Tempo Dust to help kill any larva inside. Do not plug the holes for at least 30 days after dusting to prevent the developing larva from drilling a new hole to exit. Please refer to our online Carpenter Bee Guide for more tips.

    Q
Do I need to cover furniture or remove furniture before use on indoor baseboards, perimeter, cracks, etc
Hello, I would just like to know if I need to remove my couch from the living room before sparing the perimeter of the room (indoors). Same would go for my mattress in the bedroom or chairs in the dining room etc? I intend to spray only the perimeter baseboards/ cracks of the interior of my home but I am unsure if any aerosol will get onto the furniture and how seriously I should try to avoid this
    A

We do recommend that you cover furniture, or move furniture to the center of the room to avoid drift of the Talstar while spraying. If you intend to use the spray indoors, please make sure you have good ventilation or open windows to allow the product to dry quickly. Any person(s), children, or pets, must be away from the treated areas until the product dries.

    Q
Can I mix Talstar P with Beta cyfluthrin and Imidacloprid along with Archer igr and Eagle 20ew?
I’m looking to treat mosquitoes, white grub worms and do a fungicide treatment all in one if possible in a backpack tank sprayer
    A

No, we would not recommend mixing all of those products together into one application. You can mix Talstar with the Archer for your mosquito treatment, focusing on your shrubs and trees, (not so much on your lawn), making sure to spray the underside of the leaves, as this is where the mosquitoes land.  You should be retreating every 30 days for mosquitoes.  Your imidacloprid would be for your grub treatment, which should be done a bit later in May and then again in September, as grubs have 2 generations per year.  The Eagle 20 EW is your fungicide treatment which would be best not to be mixed with your insecticides.
