Yes, Talstar P Professional Insecticide is one of the top choices for sod webworm control. Preventative or low level infestations are treated at 0.18 to 0.25 fl oz in 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft followed by ¼ inch of rainfall or irrigation to ensure the active ingredient gets into the subsurface soil layer. For heavy or severe infestations, apply at the 1 fl oz per 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft.
The manufacturer recommends to time applications to control young larvae, if possible. Spot treatments may be applied when infestations are first detected and the damaged area is small. Per the product label for Talstar P Professional Insecticide you can apply once every 7 days when using the low rate of 0.5 fl oz per gallon of water if needed. If you are using the higher rate of 1 fl oz per gallon of water you can only apply once a month. You will still see mosquitoes in the area as they have to contact the area to be effected by it which can take time, it does not repel them from the area though.
For mosquitoes key is to apply to the underside of leaves on trees/bushes which is there the adults lay during the day, as well as shady areas. You would not treat entire areas of the lawn that are in full sun as it is not habitable for them there.
