    Q
How long after applying the Taurus SC Termiticide can ground get wet?

Taurus SC Termiticide should be applied when rainfall is not expected within 24 hours.  It should be re-applied if it has rained on the same day of application.

    Q
Can I mix Taurus SC with Talstar and Pivot IGR?

Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for mosquitoes and cannot be used out in the yard or on plants where you need to treat for mosquitoes so would not be tank mixed with Talstar P.

    Q
Can I spray Taurus SC directly on my wood floors to kill fleas?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be used indoors at all. It is an exterior use product up against the exterior foundation for termites (in the soil) and topically for ants etc. We recommend PT Alpine Flea and Bedbug Aerosol for inside for flea eradications along with vacuuming daily (discarding bag/empty canister outside away from home). You want two applications two weeks apart minimum for flea treatments. You will spray once every two weeks after until the fleas are fully eradicated. Please take a few moments to review our article for additional pro tips.

    Q
What is the per gallon mixture ratio of Taurus SC?
I want to spray areas of infestation in the house.
    A

Taurus SC is not for indoor use at all unless you are treating for an active termite colony behind a wall void that you plan to drill a small hole into the wall to get to. If that is the case, you would use the same rate as you would for the trenching method outdoors which is 0.8 oz per gallon of water.

  • Asked by Ed from Philadelphia. Pa

    Q
I have 35 gallons left in my tank from 4 weeks ago is it still going to be effective?
    A

The manufacturer of Termidor SC recommends that you use the diluted solution within 24 hours. The longer the product sits in a solution the less effective it will become.

  • Asked by Dennis from Aiea, Hi

    Q
Taurus SC: why the 4 times a year restriction?
I'm using it for ants. Why wouldn't I use this again if they appear again? Even it means applying more than 4 times a year? Thanks.
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide has a long residual and should only be applied at the lowest rate if using 4 times a year as labeled by the manufacturer to be the safest application.  You will still see ants after application as it takes time to completely kill off a colony but you should not apply more often than labeled. They will still die after contacting a treated area.

    Q
How many square feet will a 78 oz bottle of Taurus SC Termiticide cover?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide in the 78 oz bottle will cover 240 lineal feet of trenching/drilling for termite applications. It makes 100 gallons of solution. We would suggest the 20 oz bottle for treatment topically around the structures (1 ft up and 1 ft out). Each 20 oz. bottle will make 24 gallons of solution and will treat 16,600 sq ft.

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC around my foundation for ants? Can I use Bifen L/P granules for lawn around the house?
    A

Yes, Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied around the foundation of a home to control ants. You will mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home.  Bifen L/P Granules can also be broadcast in your lawn to treat labeled pests.

    Q
If I can't access the entire perimeter of my house can I just treat the crawl space and piers?
I have a brick patio that buts up to the back of my house and the only way I would be able to trench this area is by removing part of my patio. Can I just treat the interior perimeter and the piers? I also have an attached garage on a slab, should I also trench around this if treating the interior perimeter of the crawl space and the piers only is an option?
    A

When you have any concrete against the home (such as a patio or garage that shares walls with inside rooms) that prevents you from trenching across it, you have to drill holes ever 12 inches apart and treat each hole with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed solution. Each hole should be drilled with a bit that is roughly 1/2 wide and 18 inches long. Please review the Taurus SC Product Label and our article How To Do A Termite Treatment for all the proper techniques for a home owner to treat this area.  If drilling is not an option you would at least trench around the non concrete walls and around the piers in the crawl space. For inside walls of the crawl space this is usually only done when you have an active infestation but you can do for just prevention if you choose.

    Q
How long is Taurus SC effective against ants?
I had my home treated last July for termites by a company who used Taurus SC. They did a trench around the perimeter and the sprayed in our crawl space (dirt floor). As far as I'm aware the termites are gone but I'm suddenly being overrun with the small black ants coming in the bathroom and kitchen again.
    A

While Taurus SC Termiticide will last in the soil of a trenching treatment for up to 10 years, it is recommended to do you perimeter spray- 1 foot up the siding, 1 foot out into the soil all the way around the perimeter, along with around entry points like doors and windows- once every 6 months for ant control.

    Q
Will Taurus SC work on ants in gravel around trees?
We have rock around our house and around the trees in our yard. We have found a lot of ants in those areas. Will this product work to get rid of them?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide does not have labeling for use on gravel driveways, sidewalks or around trees.  It is only to be used around the foundation of a structure.  As an alternative you could use Dominion 2L around your trees.

    Q
    Replacement for Diazinon
I just finished a 25 year old container of Diazinon. Just shows how much of an outdoor ant problem I have had. I went unsuccessfully looking for a new can and learned, from your site, that it has been banned. When I found ants congregating outdoors I would sprinkle some granuals, they would be taken to the queen, and, voila, ants gone. I see now liquid sprays and granuals that only last 3 months. I thought if the queen dies the rest die. What is this retreat every 3 months about? I only need a container about the size of a Pringles canister, something inexpensive that works but I would (relatively) quickly use up and replace as needed, not of a size that I would be tripping over for the next two and a half decades. What do you suggest
    A

Residential uses of diazinon were outlawed in the U.S. in 2004. We were able to find product labels by searching for "diazinon 4E specimen label", but we would still recommend contacting the manufacturer for advice on product  usage and safety. We have several products for general pest control that are readily available and are safe to use around humans and pets. We do offer a granular bait that is labeled to eradicate ants called Maxforce Complete Granules. You can apply a liquid spray application with Taurus SC up against the structure (1ft and 1ft out) around the foundation a couple of times per year for a non-repellent barrier for ants. This transfers to other ants also. The Maxforce Complete Granules will be shared also. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Ants for a successful eradication program.

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC in my solo backpack sprayer?
    A

Taurus can only be applied with the backpack sprayer as long as its not going to cause the treatment barrier to be wider than the legal allowed range which is 1 foot up the side of the home and 1 foot out on the ground and around window and door frames or entry points for insects. If it will apply it in a wider range than this you would need to use a smaller hand held sprayer for the application.

    Q
Can you mix an IGR with Taurus SC Termiticide?
    A

Yes an IGR can be mixed with Taurus SC Termiticide. The most recommended IGR for outside use is  NyGuard IGR.  It is photostable outside and also works for many other insects as listed on the product label.
