    Q
Is Taurus SC odorless? Termidor states it is virtually odorless.
    A

Yes the Taurus SC is virtually ordorless just like the Termidor SC. Both products can be used outdoors only and only around the foundation 1 foot up and 1 foot out and around window and door frames. This application is limited to 6 inches up onto the foundation and 6 inches out from it on the ground in the state of California.

    Q
Does Taurus SC bond to soil like Termidor does? and does a foaming agent need to be used for application?
Do I need to add a foaming agent to spot treat inside wall voids or is a standard garden/yard, pump up sprayer application sufficient to spray inside the walls?
    A
Yes the Taurus does bond to the soil the same as the Termidor to acheive the same protection of your home. You do not have to have a foamer and foaming agent to mix with the Taurus and can use it by itself in a standard pump sprayer for wall void spot treatments. While a foam will give you further coverage behind the wall, it is not necessary. If you haven't purchased the products yet, you could get a can of Termidor foam or Premise Foam to use where you plan to spot treat so you dont have to purchase a foaming applicator and foam agent.

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC to fog within the walls? And if so how much would I need for a 5,000 sq ft home?
    Treating Drywood termites
    A
Taurus SC is not labeled to be used in a fogger and when using to treat for drywood termites you have to treat the infestation directly by drilling into the infested wood and spraying into the gallery.  It does not penetrate into wood so would not reach the termites that are in the wood unless done this way.  We suggest using Bora-Care since it is the #1 treatment on the market for dry wood termites.  You would typically just spray it on the surface of the wood and the Bora-Care will penetrate through the wood and kill the termites inside.  Also, since Bora-Care is a wood treatment product, it will stay in the wood forever and protect it forever.

    Q
What application method is best for treatment of ants?
To treat ghost ants crawling around, on, and into my foundation, should I trench or just apply a perimeter spray? If the latter, what application rate should be used (i.e., how many fl. oz. per linear foot of a spray band three feet up the wall and one foot out from the foundation)? Thanks
    A
For outdoor control of Ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home.  Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Also be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.

    Q
    Termites in a Fence
I have found that termites have just begun infesting my fence. Is this the correct product for treatment? I have seen that it should be applied around the foundation, however my fence is about 50 feet from my house.
    A
Taurus SC is NOT labeled to be used around fences. You can drill into the fence, but you would need to know exactly where the termites are. For fences, we would recommend a product called Bora-Care. Apply only to bare wood or to wood surfaces where an intact water repellent or finish is not present. Remove paint or finish prior to application. Apply one coat of solution to all wood surfaces. Apply two coats to heavily infested areas and to those surfaces where access is limited to 1 or 2 sides of wood members. For an active infestation, you will use 1 gallon of Bora-Care to 1 gallon of water.

    Q
How long does it take for Taurus SC Termiticide to kill the termite colony?
    A
Taurus SC Termiticide is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests, allowing them touch, ingest and spread the insecticide throughout the entire colony.  For termites, Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average, and ant infestations can be controlled in just a few weeks.

    Q
Properly Treating Attached Garage with Taurus SC
I have an attached garage with a living space above it. To properly treat with Taurus SC, do I trench along the two exterior walls, don't treat the garage entry area (where the wood garage door is), and drill holes (10-12 inches apart) in the interior where the (one) garage wall has living space on the other side?
    A
If you are doing a termite barrier treatment (6 inch x 6 inch trench against the structure) with a termiticide such as Taurus SC around the entire pertimeter of the home, you will not need to drill those exterior walls. The trench will provide your protection. We highly suggest this method as opposed to just "spot treating" areas of the foundation. If you are not doing a termite barrier trench treatment, you will need treat those two exterior walls as you would that interior wall. Drill 1/2 inch holes 2-3 inches off the foundation wall every 10-12 inches along the entire length of the wall. Pour 4 gallons of mixed solution in the holes for every 10 linear feet along the exterior wall (3.2 ounces/4 gallons of water) Each hole will hold 1/2 gallon of solution.

    Q
Is it safe to spray Taurus SC in the switches and plugs instead of making holes on the walls to treat voids
    A
Taurus SC Termiticide is not safe to apply into any electrical outlet. It would be most effective injected into the galleries in the wood. When injecting Taurus into the walls you want to drill about 6 inches from the floor surface and between every wooden stud down the entire length of the wall. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Perimeter trench every 10 years for termites vs. ant perimeter treatment every 6 months
Per the instructions, a perimeter treatement in a trench is recommended for termite prevention, vs. a perimeter treatment (above-ground, as I understand) is recommended twice a year for ant treatment. I suspected that ants are entering my house from below the ground through cracks in the concrete slab. Would the trenched perimeter treatment every 10 yeears be effective for BOTH termites and ants?
    A
A trench treatment with Taurus SC will kill both termites and ants that travel through the treated soil. However, if the ant or termite colony is located directly under the slab of your home there is a possibility that they may not pass through the treated soil around the perimeter of your home as they come through a crack in the foundation. In order to kill ant or termite colonies located under the slab we would recommend drilling through the cracks in the foundation and inject the Taurus SC into the soil below foundation. You would drill a hole every 12 inches along the crack in the slab and use 4 gallons of the diluted Taurus solution per 10 linear feet.

    Q
Is it ok to treat with Termidor or Dominion after using Dursban?
I had a old half gallon of Dursban that I put around my house last year. I didn't trench, but I did soak it in real good. Is it ok to retreat my house with Termidor or dominion? Will the Dursban lessen the affect of the Termidor or Dominion?
    A
Dursban has been banned for a while so there is little information that can be offered on it. However, Termidor SC or Dominion 2L should be able to be used a year later. We would recommend doing a trench treatment with either one of those products to ensure it lasts in the soil for a while. The Dursban should not lessen the effectiveness of either product.

    Q
Can I use Gravel/crushed rock for the backfill after treatment?
After digging the trench and treating the whole house for termites can i use crushed rock/gravel foe the backfill? For ease of future treatments instead of digging the trench again in 5-10 years couldn't we just pour through the gravel?
    A
You do not want to use grave/crushed rock as your backfill after a termite treatment. Termidor does not bond to rock, it bonds to soil, so if you fill in the trench with gravel, the termidor will not stick to it and it will leave you with a 6x6 area of completely unprotected surface that the termites could pass through to get directly to your home. We understand that the digging of the trench is a pain, but it must be done each time and it must be backfilled with dirt, and the dirt that is backfilled must be treated as well if you want your home properly and completely protected.

Treatment of a foundation with a fig tree
A house treated with Taurus SC has a large fig tree within 1 foot of the foundation, house was just treated, how will the fruit be affected next spring?
    A
As long as the Taurus SC application was not applied directly within the root-zone of the tree, the fruit should be safe to eat. Taurus SC does not move through the soil and would not trans-locate anywhere. It will stay exactly where it was used.

    Q
Is it safe to apply Taurus SC in a crawl space as a surface spray for ants/termites?
Also, do I need to wear a ventilator or mask when applying?
    A
Yes, Taurus SC can be used as a general spray around the foundation of the crawlspace for ants, however it will not be as effective on termites unles you do a proper termite trench treatment inside the crawl space areas. We would recommend using a mask like the N95 valved respirator mask when applying the product in tight areas with low air flow like a crawl space.
