There is currently no known resistance issue with Taurus SC Termiticide. It is a slow kill that kills off entire colonies so there should be none left to carry on a resistance, but it can take years of exposure to the same product to develop any type. An alternative product would be Phantom which can also be used inside along baseboards and in cracks and crevices where Taurus cannot be used.
There is no need to reapply Taurus SC Termiticide if rainfall occured 14 hours after treatment. That is plenty of time for the product to become rainfast.
Taurus SC Termiticide would be a very effective product to use for ant control outdoors. This insecticide can be used as an outdoor perimeter treatment around your homes foundation. It puts a barrier down and keeps the ants from being able to infest your home. It has a 6 month residual and will not only work for ants, but a number of other insects as well.
Taurus SC is NOT labeled for mites or indoor applications. We do not contain a fipronil product that is labeled for this type of application indoors or for the specific insect that you are treating. We highly recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a product selection that will best fit your needs with this particular active ingredient.
You would use a funnel or set your sprayer to a pin stream setting to apply ½ gallon of Taurus SC Termiticide finished solution in each drilled hole in concrete. Taurus SC Termiticide has a long residual and should only be applied at the lowest rate if using 4 times a year as labeled by the manufacturer to be the safest application. You will still see ants after application as it takes time to completely kill off a colony but you should not apply more often than labeled. They will still die after contacting a treated area.
Yes, you can inject Taurus SC under the slab that is part of the house area. This would be considered part of your termite treatment since they were found active in this area. You would NOT be permitted to apply the Taurus SC to the new wood that is being installed. The best product for this application would be Boracare which is a wood preservative that can be applied to any raw wood and lasts for the life of the wood.
You can spot treat using Taurus SC Termiticide where you find live termites in a crawl space. However, it is best to follow the trail(s) you see to find where the termites are coming up from the ground or from a void so that you can better eradicate the colony. We also recommend a full soil treatment for the home if one has not been done in several years and you have found live termites in your home. We have more details on these in our Termite Treatment Guide here.
When you have any concrete against the home (such as a patio or garage that shares walls with inside rooms) that prevents you from trenching across it, you have to drill holes every 12 inches and treat each hole with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed solution. Each hole should be drilled with a bit that is roughly 1/2 wide and 18 inches long. Please review the Taurus SC Product Label and our article How To Do A Termite Treatment for all the proper techniques for a homeowner to treat this area.
