    Q
Is Terad 3 safe to use with pets, specifically from secondary poisoning?
    A
Terad 3 is very popular because of the reduced risk of secondary poisoning.  A pet would have to eat a large amount of the actual bait to become very ill.  In turn, a pet would have to eat a huge number of rodents that ate a small amount of bait to become ill.  Most pets don't eat dead rodents....they may bring them to your doorstep but most do not consume the carcass.  Of course you must do your part and use discretion on where you place the bait for the rodents so it is out of reach of children and pets.

    Q
What happens to the mouse after it eats Terad 3?
    A
Terad3 causes hypervitaminosis (vitamin poisoning) which in turn causes calcification of the rodents heart, lungs and other important organs which of course leads to death.

    Q
What type of poison will just cause rats to bleed & not kill owls if they eat a dead rat?
My bait station is a 4 inch tube with a tee and bait can be poured in top to settle in the middle of tube. I don't want an owl or hawk to die if they eat a dying rat?
    A
Terad3 Is the bait chosen when secondary poising risks need to be minimized. Terad3 Blox by Bell Labs features the newest formulation in the fight against rodent infestations, using a whole new active ingredient: Vitamin D3. This new Vitamin D3 bait kills anticoagulant-resistant rats and mice (those resistant to other baits such as Contrac) and substantially reduces the risk of secondary poisoning. Terad 3 also poses a low toxicity to birds. The bait features a dense, tightly compacted 1 oz. bait block with superb durability, mold and moisture resistance and the ability to remain stable in temperatures as high as 200F.

    Q
Do you carry a mouse bait that wouldn't be harmful to my dogs if they ate a poisoned mouse?
We are trying to take care of a mouse problem in our attic. What is your suggestion on eliminating these pests without harming my dogs if they were to eat a poisoned mouse?
    A
We would recommend our new rodent bait from Bell Products called Terad3 Blox.  It is a new organic rodent bait that significantly reduces the risk of secondary poisoning.  Also, a dog or cat would have to get a hold of numerous dead rodents to feel the effects of a rodent bait, usually more than 10, and the pet would have to actually consume the entire rodent.  Most pets might play around with a dead rodent, but not consume it.

    Q
Can the Terad3 Blox be used in the Protecta Evo bait station (with key)?
or do I need Fastrac? I haven't seen mice yet this year, but closed off two holes to garage where I found dead mice a few months ago. Since Fastrac is more expensive, if Terad3 is as effective, I would order that. However, I want to do it right the first time so if I need Fastrac please let me know. Please advise as to the effectiveness of Terad3 versus Fastrac. Thank you!
    A
Fastrac and Terad3 Blox are both very effective rodenticides. However, there are pros and cons for each of them. The Pro of Fastrac is that it does provide you with the fastest kill of rodents (normally within 12-48 hours after feeding) but because Fastrac is a faster kill it does not have an antidote available to stop an untargeted poisoning. Terad3 Blox has shown great bait acceptance and has low toxicity to untargeted animals or birds and a great price point.

    Q
How do we stop the rats from eating the house? Is TERAD3 effective enough or is an exterminator needed?
Rats are eating through the cabinets and underneath the house, we have three cats that do there best but they still get in.
    A

Terad3 is very effective for rat and rodent control. Rats will not be an overnight fix - so be prepared to be patient, as it can take a few weeks for all of the rats to die off (depending how many you have). Also, when using a bait such as Terad3, you cannot guarantee where the rodent will die. The only way to guarantee where it will die is by using traps. Consider the T-Rex Rat Traps.

  • Asked by Rob from Sarasota, Fl

    Q
Will Terad3 kill squirrels that ingest the bait? Also, can squirrels enter the Protecta Rat Station?
We have squirrels on our property and do not want to harm them. Are there any rat bait stations that do not allow squirrel entry?
    A
Yes, it is possible that a smaller squirrel can fit in the Protecta Rat Bait Stations. Since squirrels and rats are similar sized, there are not really any options that will target only rats and not squirrels other than a live catch trap. If you happen to catch the squirrel, you can let it go. It is possible that if they consume the Terad3 bait that it will affect them.

    Q
What poison can I use for mice that will not hurt my cats if they catch one after the mice eat the poison?
I have seven cats, and mice are entering my mobile home. What can I use so it doesn't harm my cats?
    A
The safest bait we carry is called Terad3 and it is labeled as an organic bait.  It has very low secondary poisoning toxicity, and the cats would have to eat a lot of mice to become ill.  However, most cats and dogs will play with a dead mouse but rarely will they actually consume a dead animal.  You should always make sure you apply the bait safely in places where you cats cannot access the actual bait.

    Q
Does Terad3 Blox cause dying rats to search for a water source like previous poison?
I have a koi pond and am concerned that will go to it for water and die there.
    A
There are no products on the market like what you speak of.  It has been a myth for years that a product like this exists, but it does not.  Terad 3 causes death by an accumulation of calcium in the internal organs and would be safe around a pond as long as the product is not able to get into the water itself.

    Q
How often should I replace the Terad3 Blox bait?
What is the lifetime of the Terad3 baits? I installed fresh baits back in December and want to know if I should dispose the 4 month old baits and replace with fresh ones.
    A
Terad3 Blox Baits should be replaced if they are insect infested, moldy, melted or smell rancid. Baits that were placed out back in December most likely need to be replaced with fresh bait. There really isn't a set amount time that has to pass before baits must be replaced.

    Q
Is Terad3 Blox safer for large dogs who eat very large field rats?
I own imported Large boned Dobermans for show. The bad thing is they constantly "hunt" rats and willfully consume the whole thing. I currently have an infestation of very large field rats in the crawlspace. Any suggestions for how to to get rid of the large rats, yet keep my dogs safe?
    A

Terad3 Blox is an excellent bait choice if you are concerned about secondary poisoning, such as your dogs eating rodents that have consumed the bait, since it is designed with this type of situation in mind. Of course, you should always use baits in tamper-resistant stations and store baits out of reach of children and non-target animals. For indoor areas such as a crawl space, we would recommend using traps such as the Catchmaster Easy Set Rat Snap Trap so that you can easily locate and remove dead rodents. Please see our Rat Treatment Guide for additional tips and information.

    Q
What is the difference between Terad3 and Terad3Ag bait blocks?
What makes one certified organic and the other not? Is one more effective than the other?
    A
The main difference between Terad3 and Terad 3 AG is the product label. The product label on each product is geared specifically for commercial/residential use or organic production. To learn more about any differences between the baits you should contact Bell Labs, the manufacturer, directly 800-323-6628.

    Q
How can I get rid of a mice infestation without poisoning my dogs?
I've tried your "sticky traps", and they work well. I keep a close eye on them, and I quickly kill the mice they catch. This is a very old house, though, and there are just too many mice. I don't like using poisons, but I think I'll have to do so until the mouse population isn't so large. They're reproducing faster than I can catch them. I have a silly Chi who will, if he can, chew on dead mice. Is there a mouse poison that would kill the mice, but not harm the Chi if he finds, and chews on a dead mouse? Bugs aren't a problem because I use DE. What the DE doesn't get, the "sticky traps" do.
    A
Terad3 Blox are recommended for situations where secondary poisoning may be a concern.  A small dog would have to actually eat, not just chew on, several mice (think 20 or more) to have any type of reaction. Terad3 Blox should be used in tamper resistant bait stations such as the Protecta Mouse Bait Stations to reduce the risk of non-target animals accessing the bait. You can place the stations around the outside perimeter of your home to help get rid of the mice before they move indoors.

    Q
Once they eat the Terad 3 will I be finding dead mice in different places?
    A
You could potentially find mice anywhere they like to travel. Of course you may not see any at all if they return to a hidden burrow when they start feeling the effects of the bait.

    Q
What impact does Terad3 have on children if accidententally ingested? Contrac indicates there is a remedy.
    A
If Terad3 Blox were ingested we recommend to contact poison control 1-800-222-1222 immediately. Although, it is lower risk product it is still not recommended for ingestion. This is why you always want to place bait blocks in tamper resistant bait stations.

  • Asked by Xavier from Philomath, Or

    Q
    Outdoor voles and field mice.
Does this product work in outdoor settings with tunneling rodents. If so, which form would be better (~ 100 tunnels of voles and field mice) the pellets or the blocks?
    A
Terad3 Blox are not specifically labeled for voles. We would recommend using Kaput Rat and Mouse Bait. They come in place packs that are in pelleted form. This is best for voles in particular. It will also work very well for mice. For voles, open a pack and load one ounce (half of a pack) of bait into each bait station. Situate bait stations near runways, burrow openings or plants that voles have been damaging. Maintain a fresh supply of bait for 15 days. Use a tamper-resistant bait station when children, pets, or non-target wildlife are present. For mice, open a pack and apply 1/4 to 1/2 ounce of bait per placement at intervals of 8 to 12 feet. Maintain a fresh supply of bait for 15 days. First dead rats, mice and voles will appear 4 to 5 days after feeding begins. Always follow label directions.
