Product Overview

Termidor FOAM contains Fipronil, the same active ingredient as Termidor SC, in a RTU (ready-to-use) foam that is labeled for termites and ants. Perfect for spot treatments, Termidor FOAM expands rapidly creating a dry foam that can be applied in the voids, harborages, galleries, and nests where insects are found. The foam generated has an expansion ratio of 30:1. In about 5 seconds 1 oz. of product becomes approximately 1 quart of foam.

Termidor FOAM can be applied in and around residential and commercial structures; structural and non-structural elements that are prone to insect attack (such as fences, utility poles, landscape timbers, bridges, or under slabs); or insect harborages. This product can be applied from the interior and/or the exterior according to label directions. To access some harborages the drilling of holes may be required.

Termidor FOAM helps to fulifill the Localized Interior (LI) component of a Exterior Perimeter/Localized Interior (EP/LI) treatment (also known as PerimeterPLUS).

How to do a Termite Treatment

Termidor product features:

Advanced undetectable technology

Termidor is made from a revolutionary new nonrepellent or "undetectable" chemical technology treatment. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid Termidor. Instead they contact, ingest, and share it with their nestmates. This is in sharp contrast to older liquid termite controls, which rely on repellent barriers that termites can find breaks in or avoid completely.

The "Transfer Effect"

Termites who contact Termidor transfer it to every other termite they in turn contact, in a unique process called the "Transfer Effect." And because Termidor is engineered to be slow-acting, termites have ample time to spread it throughout their entire termite population.

Better than bait... without the wait

Baits can take years to control a termite colony. Termidor begins working immediately to wipe out termites inside and immediately surrounding your home. Termidor is the most effective and fastest at completely eliminating termite populations--up to six-times faster than bait.

    TERMIDOR FOAM

    By Roscoe on 03/02/2013

    Verified Purchase

I had never heard of termidor foam and had reservations as to it's value. Folks, it works. We made a small hole in the driwall between each wall stud and pierced a hole in the insulation so that I could spray the foam into the airspace. Then inserted the tube through the hole and gave it a squirt. The foam expanded and the termites that I could see began dying. After a couple days, there was no more signs of infestation.

    Worked!

    By Relaxtoday on 03/10/2013

    Verified Purchase

I found their pencil hole entry and drilled it bigger. Then I put on gloves and put the foam in. It was easy and no more coffee grounds! A week later I found another area nearby with drywood termites. I did the same thing. It has been a few weeks and no more coffee grounds anywhere. This works!

    Amazing product!!!

    By Diane on 06/18/2014

    Verified Purchase

I had a localized carpenter ant nest in a fully enclosed wall. The nest activity spanned a 4x5 foot area. After freaking out and receiving ridiculous exterminator quotes, I did some online research. I learned that the active ingredient in Termidor Foam, fipronil, is a safe and extremely effective chemical that works by direct and indirect contact. Even though the walls had fiberglass insulation, I was able to drill near the studs, and insert this foam into the voids. I only used one can for the the job. I saw results within 12 hours, and the problem was fully resolved within three days. I am thrilled with the effectiveness of this product, and am pretty excited that I was able to save $450+ by tacking this project on my own. Thank you for offering pro-quality pest control products to homeowners at very reasonable prices.

    By Sue on 03/28/2013

    Verified Purchase

This product works great . I used it just as spring was approching the end of February to spot treat troubled infested areas from the past YEARS and in two weeks the termites began to appear . Only this time they were approximately less than 1/10 the amount flying out as there were last year I was extremely pleased!!!! You have no idea what a relief that was now I will treat the barrier around my home. And hope it works the rest of the way to destroy those annoying chewers thanks!

Sort Questions
Q
Can I use Termidor FOAM with pets in the house?
A

We would not recommend applying Termidor FOAM while pets and/or children are in the treatment area, they should be out of the area during application until dry. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for pets to return to the area.

Q
Termidor Foam on wires behind drywall.

Is it safe to spray Termidor Foam behind drywalls with wires around it? Not sure how to circumnavigate wires if the termites are in around that stud area.

A

Termidor Foam can be applied to wall voids where suspected termite or ant activity is found, and as long as you are not drilling into the wires behind the wall, the foam would have no impact on the materials it may come into contact with besides the termites.

Q
Is the expansion of Termidor FOAM harmful to antique furniture?

Will the expanding properties of the foam damage antique furniture? I'd hate to crack or split the door on my gr-grandmother's clock if this expanding foam is forceful.

A

The consistency of the Termidor FOAM when expanding is similar to a high volume hair mousse that will disipate slowly after injected into the space. It is not a hard foaming expansion foam so should not cause damage to any doors or joints.

Please view our How to Apply Termidor Foam Video for a quick demonstration of how the foam looks and is applied.

For further technical information, please reach out to the manufacturer BASF at 770-985-9195 regarding this matter.

Q
Can Termidor SC be used to refill Termidor FOAM cans?
A

No, Termidor SC cannot be used to refill Termidor FOAM as the Termidor SC is a suspended concentrate and Termidor Foam is a Ready to Use foam.

Termidor SC can be applied as a foam application as directed on page 16 of the product label using a foaming agent and Foamer Sprayer.

Q
Do I treat the void or drill holes in the studs using Termidor FOAM?

I can hear the popping and cracking suspected sound of termites in a wall between my utility room and dining room.

A

Termidor FOAM should be applied into the drilled holes. You will not foam the entire wall void, rather you will drill a hole close to the top of the ceiling/stud on either side of the stud. Once the holes are in place on each side, inject the foam into each hole for 5-10 seconds, allowing the foam to expand but slide down the sides of the studs where they would travel. If you are seeing them along the baseboard areas, drill holes every 8-10 inches apart across the area between studs, about an inch or 2 above the baseboard.

Q

Q
Can a contact or quick acting insecticide be applied after Termidor FOAM to kill active termites while waiting for the Foam to transfer?

Can I used previously drilled holes where I injected a lambda-cyhalothrin foam to inject Termidor Foam?

A

You will not want to apply another insecticide over the areas treated with Termidor FOAM for atleast 6-8 weeks. Termidor Foam is a non repellent so other insecticides will interfere with it's ability to transfer through the colony.

If this area has been previously treated, wait the recommended time per that product label before apply Termidor Foam and yes, the same holes can be used.

Q
Can Termidor FOAM be used on bamboo floors to treat for what I believe is Drywood Termites?

So far I have used FUSE Foam on bamboo floor where I have seen kick-outs of some kind and black marks under top surface as well as into holes drilled along the baseboards going through to the inside cavity of wall. Taurus SC was used in a ditch for termites, how long should I do before rain?

A

Termidor FOAM can be used in localized areas to treat for active termites in flooring by using the holes already in the wood from termites or by drilling directly into the areas and injecting the foam. FUSE Foam contains both Imidacloprid and Fipronil so double treating the same areas with Termidor Foam would not be needed.

BoraCare would be an alternative option for termites in wood flooring for both active termites and/or for preventative termite treatments. BoraCare absorbs completely throughout the wood and will last the entire life of wood however it can only be applied to raw untreated wood that is not painted, stained or sealed. Sufaces would need to be sanded down to the bare wood or injected into holes drilled into the wood.

View our Drywood Termite Guide for more information.

When using Taurus SC for the termite trench method, the application should have atleast 24 hrs to dry before any rainfall is expected.

Q
Termidor FOAM for open tunnels in Fence? How remove excess?

I read the label and SDS. In the SDS, it says "For fences, treat exposed surfaces where termites or ants are active (foam must dissipate or be removed prior to leaving area)." My fence is quite infested and tunnels are visible from the outside already. Normally I inject the foam into a hole, but in this case, do I just spread the foam along the visible tunnels? Also, what is meant by "foam must dissipate?" And what is considered "removed prior to leaving area?" Thanks much.

A

When treating fences with Termidor FOAM, you will inject the foam in to the holes and can use a putty knife or spatula to spread the foam if needed. The product label states the applicator must ensure the application dissipates completely into the wood so the foam is not left exposed for non target insects or animals.

Q
Difference in active ingredient percentage of Termidor SC and Termidor FOAM

I noticed that there is 9.1% fipronil in the termidor liquid but only 0.005% in the foam. I've used it before and I know it works but just wondering why such a drastic difference when I feel I could put the liquid and a foaming agent in a termite foamer and possibly get better results?

A

Termidor FOAM comes in a ready to use formulation whereas Termidor SC is a liquid concentrate that has to be diluted with water, so that is the reason the percentage of active ingredient is different. You can absolutely add a foaming agent to Termidor SC, but both products would render the same results.

Q
I ran out of filler for one of the holes in a wood beam that I applied Termidor FOAM in. Is this a big deal if it is not sealed up or filled? I want to make sure I'll be safe and it's not toxic. Not kids or pets. It's on the ceiling.
A

Yes, all drilled holes in commonly occupied areas into which Termidor FOAM has been applied should be plugged. Per the product label in Application Instructions on page 3 the manufacturer states that all holes should be filled with appropriate putty or suitable material.

Q
Is it too much to treat with Termidor FOAM indoors and Termidor SC outdoors?
A

Termidor FOAM can be used to treat inside where you can directly spot treat active infestations and Termidor SC would be used in a trench (and in drilled holes in concrete) around the home.  We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment.
