    How far away from a body of water should you be to safely treat with Termidor SC?
    A
    The exact distance you need to be from a body of water is not specified on the Termidor SC product label. When using Termidor SC, it is the applicators responsibility to make absolutely sure that runoff or overspray cannot enter a body water. You can help ensure this by not using Termidor SC on windy or rainy days or on embankments near the water. The Termidor SC product label states that you cannot use Termidor SC closer than 5 feet from a well or cistern and we feel that same guideline should be followed for other bodies of water as well.

    How deep should the trench be for an outside Termidor treatment?
    The basement is five feet below the grade level, and I believe on the slab. I found active termites in the basement, they are very close to the walk out door frame and in the nearby side wall. How deep should the trench be for an outside Termidor SC treatment?

    The trench around the exterior of the house only needs to be 6 inches deep.  It is not realistic to dig a 5 foot deep trench and no company would do this either.  On the inside of the basement, it would probably be a good idea to drill through the slab of the basement along the wall that is below grade and apply Termidor SC through the slab and/or treat the termites directly in the wall where the activity is.

    Is termidor usable after setting around for a while and getting more yellow than white?
    A
    The shelf life of the Termidor SC when stored properly in a temperature stable environment out of direct sunlight is roughly 5 years. It it has been improperly stored or is older than about 5 years or so, then we would suggest getting a new bottle to ensure the product is at full strength for your needs. If it is within the 5 year date and the color has simply changed, it can be due to the active ingredients settling or just changing slightly over time.

    Will Termidor SC kill fire ants?
    A
    Termidor SC is not a good option for fire ant control because it can only be used on or immediately adjacent to a structure, it is not labeled to be used out in the yard.  We recommend using a fire ant bait granule such as Advion Fire Ant Granules or Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Granules. Both of these are labeled specifically for fire ants and can be used out in the yard as a broadcast or mound treatment.

    Can Termidor be used to treat bees?
    A
    Termidor is not labeled to treat bees and therefore we cannot recommend it.  Bees are considered to be beneficial since they play a major role in pollination.  Because of this fact, many products are not labeled for bees.  If bees are nesting inside your home or going in and out of an opening, we recommend dusting the opening with Tempo Dust.

    Can I spray Termidor on fascia and exposed wood siding?
    I have replaced most of the more damaged fascia, but there are some additional areas that can be repaired with filler. This includes some shiplap wood under eaves. I am in Southern California and my house is mostly stucco, with wood fascia and exposes eaves. Do I need to drill holes in wood or will surface spray be okay?

    Termidor is not a wood treatment product and will not penetrate into wood.  It is meant to be applied to soil.  So spraying Termidor on fascia boards or any other surface will not do much.  If you are trying to take care of termites in wood, then you have to drill holes into the wood and inject the Termidor directly.  It has to come into contact with the termites in the wood to be effective.

    Is Termidor SC safe to spray in a yard where our pets will go out in a few hours later?
    My dogs go out in my yard where I want to spray for ants

    Termidor SC is only labeled to be applied around the outside perimeter of structures. You want to spray 1-2 feet up and out around the foundation. After the treated area has completely dried, it is safe for people and pets to re enter the area.

    How would you use this product for a yellow jacket nest or a nest in wall or attic void?
    A
    When using Termidor SC to treat yellow jackets, mix .8fl oz of Termidor SC per gallon of water and treat ONLY the exterior points of the home where you have located the yellow jacket nest. Treat using a low-pressure coarse banded surface spray up to 18 inches in
    width around doors, windows, vents, pipes or any other exterior openings and/or with a crack and crevice injection tip into foundation cracks or drilled holes where listed pests could enter the structure. Inside the home, we recommend using an insecticide dust such as Tempo 1%. You will want to drill holes into walls to access nest and apply dust with a bellow duster such as the B&G Bulb Duster. Termidor SC is a non repellent and will transfer through the colony very effectively.

    Preventative treatment for soffits (disregard previous!)
    I currently have drywood termites in my wood window frame. Once I remove the trim, what is the best treatment (both remedial and preventative)? Would I foam (or spray?) Bora Care on the wood, then follow with Premise or Termidor? A little confused with the different products. I will also be removing fascia from a boxed soffit and would like to treat the interior of the soffit before closing it up (no current activity)...what is the best course of treatment for prevention? Thanks!

    Both Termidor and Bora-Care are good for treating dry wood termites.  They do it in different ways though.  Termidor is considered to be one of the best treatments around, however it is typically meant for subterranean termites and it is poured into the ground.  When using Termidor to treat dry wood termites, you have to drill holes into the wood and get the Termidor directly into the void where the termites are for it to work. Termidor will not penetrate through the wood, you have to get it in the right place.  Also, Termidor SC does not have any long term protection qualities in the wood.  Bora-Care is a wood treatment product and will penetrate through the wood. When applying Bora-Care you do not have to get it directly where the termites are.  You would typically just spray it on the surface of the wood and the Bora-Care will penetrate through the wood and kill the termites inside.  Also, since Bora-Care is a wood treatment product, it will stay in the wood forever and protect it forever.  The down side is that Bora-Care can only be applied to normal raw wood.  It cannot be applied to wood that has been painted, stained, or sealed.  So, if you are exposing the studs or normal wood anywhere on the house or replacing any wood then usually Bora-Care is what you want to use since it will protect the wood long term.  If you have an infestation in wood that is painted and you will not be replacing it, then typically you would drill holes into the wood and use Termidor SC.

    Once the 6" deep x 6" wide trench is dug, what is the pour rate per foot?
    I would like to know once the trench is dug, how much and how is it applied in the trench? Lets say if I have a ten foot trench, how much liquid should be used within that measurement?

    Once dried on a surface, is Termidor SC still toxic to come into contact with?
    Wondering if I need to keep my children from touching surfaces where termidor would have touched for a period of time (an old tree stump in our yard, etc.). It was drilled and poured into the stump, but some was on the top, too. They like to play by it.

    No, Termidor SC is no longer toxic when dry. It is safe for your children to play near the area where Termidor SC was used once it is dry.

    Can Termidor SC be used in the attic and in California?
    I live in Southern California, my home has drywood termite. What is the dose I should use to kill drywood termite in attic?

    Termidor SC can be shipped to California but it cannot be used for indoor applications. Since you have drywood termites in the attic, the most recommended product for your situation would be Bora-Care. Bora-Care is applied to raw wood for termite control and it will penetrate the entire piece of wood and erradicate an active infestation as well as preserve it. The great thing about Bora Care is that it is natural, last for the entire life of the wood (never goes away), and dries completely clear. Termidor would not be recommended because it doesn't penetrate wood and injections directly into the affected wood would be neccessary for treatment and it doesn't last very long.

    How to treat for termites in Arizona. Different ground cover around home
    The majority of the perimeter of my home is rock over dirt. I have a landscaped area in my backyard with pavers going up to the foundation of the house. How do i treat this type of area?? Also, in my front yard there is a walk way going to the front door. Since i obviously can't dig up the concrete, do I treat on the outer side of the concrete walkway which is away from the foundation?? What about my garage and driveway areas? Thank you very much.

    The answer to this question is also in our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article. You will want to use the Termidor product. For your concrete areas against the home, you will need to get the termiticide underneath the concrete against the foundation. To do this you will need a hammer drill with a 1/2" x 18" drill bit. You drill holes throughout the concrete about 3-4 inches away from the wall or foundation, and about every 10"-12" apart. Once the holes are drilled, you fill at the same rate you did the trench, 4 gallons per 10 feet. To fill these I would recommend using the one gallon sprayer on a "pin stream" setting so you can force the liquid down the hole and not splash it everywhere. You can also use a funnel and pour the termiticide down the holes. It is difficult to get 4 gallons per 10 feet in the holes, so it is important that you use a long drill bit, at least 18" long so you can bore out enough dirt to hold the termiticide. Once the holes are filled all you need to do is patch them with a concrete patch filler you can buy at Home Depot or you can use our Trebor plugs that will close the hole with no concrete mess.

    As for your areas with rock over dirt, again - you need to get the termiticide product down into the soil to be most effective. We recommend digging a 6in x 6in trench to pour the solution into the ground.

    How far apart do I drill holes in concrete slab to apply Termidor SC?

    The holes should be 2" from the foundation wall and 10-12" apart. You will apply the finished solution at 4 gallons every 10 lineal feet. You will mix 0.8 fl oz of Termidor SC per gallon in a 5 gallon bucket (4 gallons of water and 3.2 fl oz of Termidor SC).

    Does Termidor SC work in sandy soil applications with the trenching method?
    The sandy soil in my area Of Florida is hydrophobic and does not absorb water or chemicals. Will one of the two foaming agents that you sell for use with Termidor SC Act as a surfactant or wetting agent? Will either of these two foaming Products disrupt the non repellent nature of the Termidor? Or is there another wetting agent that you would recommend?

    Termidor SC has soil binding molecules in it that will allow it to bind to any soil regardless of the density. It is not labeled to be used with a foaming agent in the trenching method.

    For Termidor SC, how log before or after a rain fall can I do my perimeter pour treatment?
    My trenches are dug, approximately 6" x 6". I am waiting for a dry spell, but I want to know what would be the timing that works best for treatment. Is either before or after a rainfall?

    Your treatment should not be done within 24 to 48 hours of any rainfall for the best results. Your trench should be 6'' wide, 6'' deep and 10 linear feet along the structure with the Termidor.     We have termites in our palm trees, how and can we treat them?

    Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees.  Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor SCwould be the product to use for that.  It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.  Please take a moment to read over our article on "How to do a Termite Treatment" for complete details.

    Should I be concerned about using Termidor SC near my vegetable garden?
    I would like to use Termidor for termite control and ant control around the perimeter of my home. I also have a vegetable garden on my property and I worry that the ants that have walked through the Termidor SC could possibly contaminate my vegetables. My garden is several yards from where I would apply the Termidor.

    No, there is no need to be concerned. As long as your vegetable garden is not directly sprayed with the Termidor SC or so close to the treatment area that runoff or overspray comes in contact with the garden, Termidor SC is safe to use. There is no worry of ants transferring Termidor to any vegetation.

    Can Termidor be effective by injecting it with a needle & syringe into termite galleries in infested wood?
    A
    In order to inject the Termidor SC liquid into the beams you will need to drill holes every couple of inches and use a sprayer with a pinpoint stream or a straw attachment to get the application into the holes. Another option would be to use Termidor Foam which comes in a ready to use can with the small attachments to get the foam into the drilled holes. Using a needle and syringe may not offer enough product and pressure into the areas for best coverage.
