    Q
If termites are coming into a room through a vent opening, how should Termidor be applied?
    A

You will need to determine what kind of termite you have for us to direct you on the best treatment method. Bora-Care is usually the preferred choice if you are dealing with Drywood Termites and if most of the wood is exposed and it is raw wood you are treating, meaning it is not painted, stained, or sealed, it is just normal wood.  Bora-Care is made only for wood, and you do not have to know exactly where the termites are for it to work which is a plus.  Bora-Care is sprayed evenly over all exposed surfaces of the wood and actually penetrates through the entire piece of wood.  When the termites in the wood try to consume the wood after it has been treated, they ingest the Bora-Care with the wood and die.  No matter where they are in the wood the Bora-Care will find them as long as you treated the exposed wood that you can see.  The other main benefit is that Bora-Care stays in the wood forever, so you will not have to worry about termites or beetles infesting the wood that you treated ever again.

If you have subterranean termites in your home, we recommend doing the liquid treatment as outlined in the "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article and then inside the home where you know you have the termites you will treat them directly by injecting the Termidor into the wall where the termites actively are or cutting a hole into the wall and spraying on the wood or however you can get the product to the termites. It only needs to touch a few termites to work.  If you do not know where the termites are actively infesting we do have a great article here on how to do your own inspection.

  • Asked by Bob from Pinellas Park, fla

    Q
Is termidor usable after setting around for a while and getting more yellow than white?
    A
The shelf life of the Termidor SC when stored properly in a temperature stable environment out of direct sunlight is roughly 5 years. It it has been improperly stored or is older than about 5 years or so, then we would suggest getting a new bottle to ensure the product is at full strength for your needs. If it is within the 5 year date and the color has simply changed, it can be due to the active ingredients settling or just changing slightly over time.

    Q
How does rain affect the use to Termidor SC when using it to get crazy ant
Wanting to spray the outer perimeter to my house and not sure if I should wait if rain is in the forecast
    A
You should not apply Termidor SC if it is going to rain the same day.  It is best to wait until you have a few days of no rain in the forecast so there is at least 24 - 36 hours time after you treat before it rains.  After that it will hold quite well to rain and weather.

  • Asked by James from Kernersville, Nc

    Q
Is there a residual effect for use of Termidor on concrete?
I want to spot treat an area in my garage where there is a narrow space between the foundation and the concrete floor. I found termites infested in a piece of wood left unattended and and was at the junction of the wall and floor. In addition I found some tubes which were incomplete on the brick wall. Moreover, I could not detect any termites in the tubes. The only place where I could find activity was with the discarded piece of lumber.
    A
Termidor SC is only labeled to be applied in the soil around the outside perimeter of structures. Or applied 1 foot up and out around the structure for ants. You could potentially drill and inject it as a spot treatment in that specific area. Please call us at 866-581-7378 so that we can better assist you with your treatment.

    Q
What if don't trench around the house with Termidor SC?
Will the treatment still serve the same purpose?
    A
Termidor SC should be applied in a trench and drilled holes for a proper termite treatment so there is a complete barrier around the structure. If treated properly, it will last 10 years in the soil. If you are treating for ants, you will spray topically a foot up and a foot out directly up against the structure once every six months.

    Q
Just fixed leak in bathroom wall. Can I spray Termidor?
on wood tub supports and exposed studs.
    A
You can drill and inject Termidor into the galleries in the studs. You could also infect Termidor Foam if that would be easier. Please be aware the Termidor can only be used as a spot treatment indoors and that the treated area would be covered after application.

  • Asked by Ray from Ohio

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC for ants around a honey bee hive?
I would like to spray it on the ground around hive and also my home. Will it kill my bees? Is there anything better / safer to use?
    A
We would not recommend using Termidor SC around a honey bee hive. Instead, we would recommend using Mavrik Perimeter. Mavrik Perimeter is for outdoor use and is known for its immediate control of a variety of insects including mosquitoes, ants, spiders, ticks, springtails, cockroaches and fire ants. With Mavrik Perimeter there is no lingering odor or visible residue and when dry it is non toxic and non repellent to honey bees.

    Q
    Taurus SC Versus Termidor SC
    A
Termidor Sc and Taurus are essentially the same product they are just made by different manufacturers. They both carry almost the exact same label and there is not any advantage to using one product over the other.

    Q
I made a gallon of Termidor SC how long will it keep, or do I have to use all the solution the same day.
    A
The rule of thumb when using any diluted solution is to make sure to use the diluted solution within 24 hours of mixing. The shelf life of the concentrate is 3 years if kept in a cool dry area.

  • Asked by Theresa from Springfield Oregon
    06/03/2014
    Q
Why is Termidor labeled outdoor use only?
Label says outdoor use only but you are targeting Ants, Cockroaches.
    A
The Termidor SC is legally only allow to be used outdoors per the manufacturer and the EPA for the insects listed on its label. It can be used around the outside foundation of the home for ants, spiders and other pests listed on the label and will have a far reach as it transfers through the colony on any that cross that barrier. However it is not safe to be used or label to be used on baseboards inside the home. If you wanted a non-repellant transfer product like the Termidor that is safe for indoor use and will control the ants and cockroaches as well, you would want to use Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide.

  • Asked by Bill from St. Petersburg
    06/10/2014
    Q
Is Termidor SC a concentrate? How much square foot per bottle?
    A
Termidor SC is a liquid termiticide that comes in a 20 oz concentrated bottle that makes 24 gallons of finished solution. The square footage per bottle will depend on how you are using it. If you are diluting it to be used as a general insect barrier spray around your foundation, then each gallon you mix up at the .8 ounce rate will cover roughly 1000 sq/ft. So you are looking at a total of 20,000 sq/ft for the whole bottle. If you are doing a termite trench treatment, each 20 ounce bottle will cover 60 lineal feet. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Asked by Dave from Mt. Airy, Nc
    06/11/2014
    Q
Do I also need to trench-treat around all of my pressure treated deck posts/steps that are attached to house with Termidor SC also?
    A
Termidor SC should be applied to the trench directly around the structure and in drilled holes in the concrete that is attached to the structure. You may need to remove some boards if they are close to the home to access the soil directly up against the foundation for the trenching.

Should Termidor be reapplied to an area if fresh mulch was placed over it?

Termidor SC should only be applied a foot up and a foot out directly up against the structure for a topical treatment once every six months per the product label.
