    Q
What can you recommend for an in the house termite problem.
I would like to purchase something for both outdoor and indoor termites. Can you make a recommendation? Thanks.
    A
If you have termites in your home, we recommend doing the liquid treatment as outlined in the "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article and then inside the home where you know you have the termites you will treat them directly by injecting the Termidor SC into the wall stud by drilling right into the gallery where they actively are or however you can get the product to the termites. It only needs to touch a few termites to work.

    Q
Wisdom TC Flowable, is this a good product for the treatment and control of subterranean termites in a house?
Had my home treated about a year ago with this product and again about three months ago. It didn't seem to slow them down much and they are still active now. This was a whole house treatment and i would have thought they would be gone by now. Any good advice would be helpful. The damage is mostly being done in my attic with some wall activity. Thanks !
    A

We do not sell Wisdom TC Flowable and cannot comment on its effectiveness on termites. One of our most popular products for subterranean termites is Termidor SC.

Termidor will protect your home and eliminate almost any termite problem in less than 90 days. In addition, when used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Please see our Subterranean Termite Treatment page.

  • Asked by Gordon from Brunswick Ga.
    03/04/2014
    Q
My brick home has holes in the mortar from previous termite treatment. Can I use these same holes to retreat with Termidor SC? Also, do you sell a hose end sprayer for this purpose?
    A
If the holes are at least 10-12" apart you can use the same holes to apply a termiticide such as Termidor SC. We do carry hose end sprayers but we do not recommend that you apply the product with this application. It will be much easier to place inexpensive funnels in the holes and pour the finished solution in. If you have additional questions on treating for termites, please contact us at 866.581.7378 M-F 9-5 PM EST.

    02/26/2014
    Q
Your concrete drilling directions indicate 2-3 inches away and then says "on the seam".
    A
You drill holes through the concrete about 2 to 3 inches away from the wall or foundation, and about every 10"-12" apart, only on the seam where the concrete is against the foundation. You are not only drilling through just the concrete here, but also as deep as you can into the dirt.

Termidor SC cannot be used to spray open areas inside your home or in the crawl space. Termidor SC can only be used inside of wall voids for indoors use.

  • Asked by Travis from Olympia, Wa
    02/18/2014
    Q
I recently got rid of terminex, what should I use as a perimeter/band treatment?
They were using something with IMIDACLOPRID, CYFLUTHRIN 0.075%
    A
By far our most popular liquid Termiticide is Termidor SC with Fipronil active ingredient. For termites, you want to dig a 6inx6in trench all the around the perimeter of the structure. Please see our Termidor Application instructions on the product page.  If you are wanting to use a product for general pest control Talstar is always a great product that covers many different pest and can be applied outdoors and indoors. Let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Asked by Chris from Long Beach, Ca
    02/13/2014
    Q
I have dry wood termites in a live tree and want to try to rid the tree of tremites. What is the best product?
    A

Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees.  Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor SC would be the product to use for that.  It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.  Please take a moment to read over our article on "How to do a Termite Treatment" for complete details.

  • Asked by Gabriele from Sarasota Florida

    Q
Does it help with fire ant mounts in Florida?
    A
Termidor is not labeled to be used to control Fire Ant Mounds and should not be used further than 3 feet away from a structure. We recommend using Talstar P (liquid) or Talstar XTRA (granule) instead. When treating Fire Ants it is best to perform both broadcast and mound treatments. Please be sure to read the product label for complete use instructions.

  • Asked by Kay from Gulf Breeze, Florida

    Q
Is Termidor SC safe to apply in an opened interior wall?
We had treated and killed a termite infestation in May, and just recently began to repair the termite damage. When we took off the drywall to begin repairs, we found a colony of living termites. Is it safe to apply termidor and cover the open wall with a plastic sheet?
    A
Termidor SC is safe to apply as a spot treatment in voids. You can apply to an open wall and us a plastic sheet to cover while you are allowing the treatment to dry. You must then seal the open wall back up.

  • Asked by Patrick from San Jose California
    01/12/2014
    Q
If Termidor SC was to be applied on any lawn, plants, trees, bushes. etc, would it kill them?
    A
Termidor is not labeled for use on trees, plants or turf.  It is only labeled for use around your homes foundation for termites, ants, and other selected pests.  Termidor SC should have no effect on plants that are inadvertently sprayed with the product. It is important to read and follow the Termidor SC product label which states that you can only treat one foot up from and one foot out from where the ground meets the structure. The label also recommends that you remove or prune away plants, shrubs or tree branches that touch the structure. Vegetation that comes into contact with the structure may offer a route of entry for the ants allowing them to enter the structure without ever having come into contact with the treated area

  • Asked by Steve from Apache Junction, Az

    Q
Building a new shed with steel floor joists (size 8x16). There is granite on the soil.
What would be the correct way to treat underneath the shed for termites?
    A
You should treat the entire area before they set the joists and before the granite is put down.  This is called a pre-treat.  You should apply the product at a rate of 1 gallon per 10 square feet.  Some of our customers also use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges.  Since this is the more likely entry point of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around that area.

  • Asked by Edward from Los Angeles California

    Q
I have an active termite infestation that I need to treat myself
I noticed what look like subterranean termites in a molding in my kitchen. I have a number of indoor and outdoor cats who can't be moved and need a product that is cat safe. The house is single story and about 3500 square feet including garage. I would like to kill the existing visible termites as well as prevent future issues
    A
Termidor is the number one product on the market for termites today and is the product of choice for subterranean termites treatment and prevention. Termidor is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony and it will last for about 10 years in the soil.  You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house and for furture prevention.  Inside where you have had activity, you should treat that area directly by drilling holes into the infested wood and injecting the Termidor directly.  To perform a treatment just as a professional company would do, please read our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article which explains exactly how you should treat your home properly.
