    Q
Will Termidor treat moisture ants? How long will it take to get rid of all the ants including the colony?
We found moisture ants in attic above the garage. I am not sure if there are any more ants behind the dry wall. If I spray the area I could see, will the ants be killed eventually? How long will it take if that's the case? Thanks.
    A
We do not know what species of ant you are referring to as there is no ant called a "moisture" ant and ALL ants are attracted to moisture and must have it to survive. Do you know the exact species? There are no known resistance species of ant to Termidor so it would work to kill any ant colony. However, Termidor can not be used in any indoor space unless you are doing a direct spot treatment in a regularly unaccessible area on the whole colony. If you see an area they are trailing you could try either Termidor Foam to use in the galleries you think they are hiding in as this form of termidor has a broader label in where it can be used; or you can try the Complete Ant Kit and use a bait that they would take back to feed to the colony. You will want to check around your home for where the ants could have come in to either seal off these areas or cut back any bushes and trees that touch the home and use a general barrier spray regularly to keep them away in the future. Talstar would be a great easy to use and safe option for a barrier spray.

    Q
Do I need to have Termidor applied inside the house with perimeter treatment ?
Right now I do not have termites, it's all preventive. By inside the house I mean foam around pipes, under the sink, etc.
    A
Termidor is only labeled to be used inside for spot treatments. You can use Termidor as a preventative outdoors and a generally residual insecticide like talstar for indoor perimeter treatment for all different types of insects.

    Q
I have an attached deck and cannot get under it to trench along the foundation. How should I handle this?
    A
The best treatment option for this area is to just pull the boards closest to the house up and trench the dirt and then nail the boards back down. If you are unable to pull the boards up you have two other possible options. You would need to treat this as a concrete area that you will need to drill through just like a garage or driveway that might be in the way of trenching. You can try trenching all the way around the deck but you are still left with the possibility of the termites being able to come up the foundation in the untreated area under the deck. Please see the instructions for drilling holes in concrete in our How To Do A Termite Treatment guide for tips on this application.

How does the home owner protect his home from termites?
    A
Please check out our article Barrier and Soil Treatments. This article gives you a step by step guide to treating and preventing termites. Termidor works so well, because whenn it is applyed in the ground, it actually binds with the soil, providing protection for us up to 10 years.

    Q
Can you use Termidor SC for carpenter ants
Is termidor suitable against carpenter ants and what is the mixture ratio
    A
Yes, Termidor will treat carpenter ants. You want to mix .80 fl oz. for each gallon of water. Please follow the label instructions as Termidor is only labeled as an ant treatment to be used above ground to the exterior foundation walls of your house, creating a treated area of protection for excellent ant control. And only to be applied twice a year.

    Q
Is this safe to use if you live over your well?
My well is 75 ft deep and is located @10-12 feet from the corner of my house. Will this eventually get down to the water level and contaminate the water? Should I stay so many feet away from the pipe? The directions say just 3 feet.
    A
The Termidor label states that you should stay a minimum of 5 feet from any well or cistern you are treating near. Termidor is a soil bonding product so once you place the product in the soil/trench and it dries, it is going to stay where you put it for at least the next 10 years. It does not get washed away by rain once it has dried and bonded. On average the most the product will penetrate down through the soil when trenching, is 6 feet directly down from the area where it was poured.

    Q
I have my carpet removed and found termites.
I want to drill holes on the interior slab of the home and treat it there; can Termidor be used for that? I will be filling in the holes that I make with floor leveler before I put an engineered wood floor over it. Thanks.
    A
You can absolutely do a drill treatment through the slab to get to the current activity you see. You will want to use Termidor at the rate of .8 ounces per gallon of water and use between 1/2 and 1 gallon of solution per hole you drill. To further protect your home from subterranean termites we suggest you also do the trenching method around the foundation of the home as well. You can see further details for drilling instructions on the Termidor product label.

    Q
Each 20 oz bottle covers how many square feet?
    A
This will depend on how you are using it. If you are diluting it to be used as a general insect barrier spray around your foundation, then each gallon you mix up at the .8 ounce rate will cover roughly 1000 sq/ft. So you are looking at a total of 20,000 sq/ft for the whole bottle. If you are doing a termite trench treatment, each 20 ounce bottle will cover 60 lineal feet. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Q
HOW DEEP SHOULD HOLES BE & HOW MUCH MIXED TERMIDOR SOLUTION PER HOLE !!! ???
    A
When drilling through a slab you should use a 1/2 sized drill bit 18in long and the holes should be no more than 12 inches apart.  Just like outside, you should apply 4 gallons of Termidor per 10 lineal feet inside.  So if you have 10 holes over 10 feet and need to apply 4 gallons over those 10 holes, it works out to be just a little bit under 1/2 gallon per hole.

Termidor SC can only be applied around the foundation of your home or other building structure for ant control. You cannot use the product out around the trees or fences because it is not labeled for this type of application. We recommend using ant bait graules in the places where you cannot use the Termidor SC. You can see our ant bait granules here: Ant Bait Granules

    Q
Generally how long till I no longer see carpenter ants?
I had a pretty bad carpenter ant problem... was seeing dozens of them every day. I applied Termidor about 2 feet up the foundation and 2 feet out onto the dirt soil. It's been a week and I still see them, although I've noticed they're not showing up in such high numbers. Generally, how long should it take until they completely disappear? I've heard some people say 24 hours and others say several weeks.
    A
When using Termidor SC to treat carpenter ants it may take anywhere between 30 to 90 days to eradicate the colony. Termidor kills by transfer. The foraging ants will come out and make contact with the active ingredient. The kill is delayed long enough for the ant to transfer the active ingredient throughout the colony producing a domino killing effect and ultimately killing the queen.

A "professional" sprayed Termidor all over my yard and all around my son's play area and swing set.
After reading these q&a's I am very concerned! He did it for ants and ticks. What do I do now to insure my 4 yr old, dog and unborn child are safe while we are outside.

As you stated the product label specifically states to not spray Termidor on play sets. As a general rule, once the product has dried it is safe for children and pets to be around. If you are concerned about any possible problems, please contact BASF at 1-800-777-8570
