    Do I need a pest control license to buy Termidor SC or other pesticides?
    I have ants, and I want to use Termidor SC. I was told by a licensed pest control operator that I need to be licensed to purchase/apply the professional pesticide products. Is this true?

    No, you do not need a license to use Termidor SC. We do carry professional products, but every product on our website can be sold to homeowners as long as you are using it for your own use and property.  You need a license when you are treating other peoples property for profit.

    Preventative treatment for soffits (disregard previous!)
    I currently have drywood termites in my wood window frame. Once I remove the trim, what is the best treatment (both remedial and preventative)? Would I foam (or spray?) Bora Care on the wood, then follow with Premise or Termidor? A little confused with the different products. I will also be removing fascia from a boxed soffit and would like to treat the interior of the soffit before closing it up (no current activity)...what is the best course of treatment for prevention? Thanks!

    Both Termidor and Bora-Care are good for treating dry wood termites.  They do it in different ways though.  Termidor is considered to be one of the best treatments around, however it is typically meant for subterranean termites and it is poured into the ground.  When using Termidor to treat dry wood termites, you have to drill holes into the wood and get the Termidor directly into the void where the termites are for it to work. Termidor will not penetrate through the wood, you have to get it in the right place.  Also, Termidor SC does not have any long term protection qualities in the wood.  Bora-Care is a wood treatment product and will penetrate through the wood. When applying Bora-Care you do not have to get it directly where the termites are.  You would typically just spray it on the surface of the wood and the Bora-Care will penetrate through the wood and kill the termites inside.  Also, since Bora-Care is a wood treatment product, it will stay in the wood forever and protect it forever.  The down side is that Bora-Care can only be applied to normal raw wood.  It cannot be applied to wood that has been painted, stained, or sealed.  So, if you are exposing the studs or normal wood anywhere on the house or replacing any wood then usually Bora-Care is what you want to use since it will protect the wood long term.  If you have an infestation in wood that is painted and you will not be replacing it, then typically you would drill holes into the wood and use Termidor SC.

    Can Termidor SC stop roaches from coming into the house?
    We also have roaches inside the garage. Can we spray Termidor SC along the wall of the garage?

    Termidor SC is labeled for roaches and can help control them. Termidor SC does not offer a fast knockdown and it may take the roaches several days to die after coming into contact with treated areas. Termidor SC cannot be used in the garage, you must keep all applications outside of the structure. If you would like a product that you can use indoors and outdoors we recommend Talstar P.

    Termidor reads .06,.09 and .125 dilution, which concentration is standard?
    Dominion 2L also reads about 0.05% and 0.1% concentration, what determines the percentage of concentration you should use?

    The standard concentration of Termidor SC for termite treatments is 0.06% or 0.80 of an ounce per gallon of water. The standard concentration for Dominion 2L for termite treatments is 0.10% or 0.60 fluid oz. per gallon of water.

    Can Termidor SC be used in a crawl space?
    We have an old log house that sits directly on the ground. When I use the trench method, it is possible/likely some of that material will run of into the crawl space. I have read it is not intended for indoor use, but it is not clear on crawl spaces.

    Termidor SC can be used in crawlspaces. There are complete instructions on the Termidor SC product label (page 5) on how to use the product in the crawlspace, so if a bit inadvertently goes into the crawlspace it should not pose a problem.

    Is it ok to burn firewood that has been sprayed with Termidor SC for ant control?
    A
    No, you would not want to burn any wood that has been treated with Termidor SC or any other insecticide. The manufacturers do not recommend this. Any insecticide should not be breathed in, and when burned these toxins can become airborne. It would be suggested to not burn the wood.

    Can I use Termidor SC against yellow jackets?
    I read a study indicating the use of Fipronil in bait was highly successful in the control of German yellow jackets. Would Termidor SC be useful in this manner?

    Termidor SC is labeled for yellow jackets. Termidor SC is a non-repellent product that also has a transfer effect making it highly effective for social insects like yellow jackets. Termidor SC does have a very limited area it can be applied to, specifically directly on or immediately adjacent to a structure, so it's important that you fully read and follow the instructions on the product label. (Instructions for using Termidor SC for yellow jackets is on the very last page of the instructions)

    What treatment is recommended for Crazy Raspberry Ants?
    A
    Termidor SC  used outdoors and Phantom used indoors have been the most effective products to control Crazy Raspberry Ants. Ant baits and synthetic pyrethroid insecticides do not seem to do an effective job controlling this ant species. Texas A&M University has done extensive research regarding these ants and you can find detailed articles on their extension website.

    Do you have to fill the trench back in after using Termidor SC?
    I recently bought some Termidor SC from you, and I am using the trench method. How important is it to get the trench covered up after soaking? I was told it is real important to get it covered after it soaks in? I couldn't find an answer online.

    You must fill the trench back in after using Termidor SC and the back fill should also be treated. If you leave the treated trench exposed, then it will be constantly exposed to the sun and the Termidor SC will degrade faster. Also, the termites would have to tunnel deeper than the they normally would because there would be no soil for them to travel through, which means they could travel through untreated soil. It is always important to read and follow the product label. Manufacturers do a lot of research and development so that they can tell you the most effective way to use their product. Failure to follow the instructions will no doubt give you sub par results.

    Can I use Termidor SC around my house if my well is located there?
    It is 6 ft. from the house and 100' deep.

    In the area where the well is located, you cannot use the trenching method, only the backfill method is allowed. The backfill method instructs you to trench and place the soil that was removed onto a tarp, pour 1 gallon of diluted solution per 1 cubic ft of soil, mix thoroughly, return soil to trench. The complete instructions are listed on the Termidor product label under the heading "Treatment of structure with wells or cisterns"

    Is Termidor SC harmful to landscaped plants when used as a perimeter treatment for ants?
    A
    Termidor SC should have no effect on plants that are inadvertently sprayed with the product. It is important to read and follow the Termidor SC product label which states that you can only treat one foot up from and one foot out from where the ground meets the structure. The label also recommends that you remove or prune away plants, shrubs or tree branches that touch the structure. Vegetation that comes into contact with the structure may offer a route of entry for the ants allowing them to enter the structure without ever having come into contact with the treated area.

    How long will it take to be safe after spot treating with Termidor SC?
    I noticed subterranean termites on my window sill. They were pretty bad, so I removed the drywall inside. When I spray the studs inside with Termidor SC, do we need to leave the house to be safe. If so, how long? Should I install the drywall and insulation right after I spray? I'm also treating the outside by digging a trench and drilling holes every 10 inches like you suggest.

    Termidor SC is a very safe product and widely used by professional companies inside homes every day across the country.  Termidor SC is odorless and does not have any fumes.  As long as you applied the product as directed inside the wall, you do not have to leave the home.  We always recommend leaving the room after applying any product and just allow enough time for it to dry which is usually about 30 to 45 minutes.  As far as replacing the drywall, you can do so usually after 24 hours when everything has had time to dry out.  If you replace the drywall too soon before the wall has dried, you can have moisture issues which can lead to mold.  24 hours is usually plenty of time for everything to dry out.

    No. Termidor SC can only be used on or immediately around your home. Termidor SC is not labeled for use in your yard. You may want to consider using an ant bait granule such as Advance 375A or an insecticide granule such as Talstar PL for ants in your yard.

    What is a linear foot?

    The term linear foot refers to the number of feet in a straight line, generally without regard to the width. If you need to measure for a termite treatment, you will measure straight across the front, each side and back of your home. Add up each measurement and you will have the total linear feet.

    I would like to know the effectiveness of Termidor SC treatment of fleas and ticks.
    Since the Frontline packaging says that it contains 9.8% or so of fipronil in measured dosages per pound that are directly applied to a dog. Is the .06% mixed concentration strong enough to kill them on the ground or on gravel?

    Termidor SC is labeled for ticks but is not labeled for fleas. Fleas tend to live in moist shady areas out in the yard where pets or other animals spend a lot of time resting. Termidor SC however is only labeled to be used in very limited areas on or immediately next to the house or structure making it mostly ineffective for flea treatments. Termidor SC will however work well for ticks since they tend to climb walls on houses and structures where the Termidor SC can be sprayed.

    Will Termidor SC kill brown scorpions found in Georgia?

    Termidor SC will most likely kill scorpions. Since it is not labeled to do so, we can not tell you how effective it would for this use. We usually recommend Cyper WP for scorpion control. Cyper WP is also available in our scorpion control kit

    I found a black widow on my kids wooden swing set, will Termidor SC work on wood as a treatment?
    I use it on the perimeter of my house. I found a black widow with eggs in a hole on the frame of my kids wooden swing set (pre-drilled holes). I've taken care of the spider and eggs. The holes are big enough for spiders but small enough that the spider's body touches the sides of the hole. If I apply Termidor SC inside the holes as a preventive measure, will the product stick to the wood? Will it work just like it does on the foundation of my home, and would the spray (residue) on the wood kill the spiders?

    Termidor SC is labeled for black widow spiders specifically but it cannot be used on play equipment. Termidor SC can only be used on or immediately around the foundation of a structure. We do not recommend using any type of insecticide on the play equipment. We do recommend sealing the holes so that spiders cannot nest there. You can treat the areas around the play equipment with a product such as Talstar P to keep crawling insects from making the play-set their home. Knock down any spider web as soon as you see them to discourage spiders from nesting in unwanted areas.
