Termidor SC Termiticide/Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Termidor SC does come in a 78oz bottle for licensed applicators. If you can get inside of the foundation through for example a crawlspace Termidor SC should be applied in a trench like around the outside perimeter. One 20oz bottle treats 60 linear feet of trenching. 

As Termidor SC is labeled roaches outside only. We would advise using Demon WP as a residual spray and to look at our How to Get Rid of German Roaches Guide that provides excellent information on how to treat for german roaches and gives instructions on what products to use and how to apply them.

We would need more information as to how your home is constructed to know where you may think you need to drill on your brick of your home. Normally, horizontal drilling through brick is not needed unless you have a hollow block wall leading into a basement that you need to treat on the inside. You would follow the instructions laid out at the link below to our Termite Treatment Guide on how to do a trench around the foundation of your home with Termidor to get the 10 year protection from subterranean termites. Any areas you have concrete against the foundation (i.e., patio, sidewalk, driveway/garage) where you can't trench, you would need to drill a hole every 12 inches across and treat the soil below the concrete. Termidor SC should be applied at a rate of 1/2 gallon per hole drilled every 10-12 inches.  It is still applied as 4 gallons over 10 lineal feet like with the trench.

There is no reason for Suspend Polyzone and Termidor SC to be mixed together.  Suspend Polyzone will not provide a quick knockdown and is considered a repellent type product.  If you are having problems with an insect like ants/roaches outside that you need a transfer effect for, you could use the Termidor twice a year around the foundation of your home 2 feet up and 2 feet out. After 30 to 60 days after spraying the Termidor, you could do remedial sprays with Suspend in between to keep insects at bay and out in areas of the yard where the Termidor can not be used. Or, if you are not having a heavy infestation of an insect that would need the transfer of Termidor, you should only use Suspend Polyzone to treat your home and your lawn. You never want to spray the two in the same area or at the same time as the Suspend will take away from the non-repellancy and transfer effect of the Termidor which is what it is used for.  Another option is to use the Termidor SC outside (as it cannot be applied inside) and the Suspend Polyzone inside in cracks and crevices.

Termidor SC is labeled for brown recluse spiders but you would only be able to use the product outside.  Termidor SC does not have an immediate knockdown but instead uses a delayed reaction kill which makes it especially effective for social insects like ants, termites and certain species of wasps.  The hardest part of getting rid of the brown recluse is finding them since they like to remain hidden. Cyper WP would be a great choice for indoor and outdoor spider control. The active ingredient in Cyper WP is cypermethrin, which is known to be one of the top choices for spider control. Spraying Cyper WP will also help to get rid of the insects that spiders feed on and that will help to stop new spiders from moving in. Indoors, spray around all baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances, in closets and storage rooms and in areas where utilities enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray around the bottom of the foundation, on the ground adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames and places where the utilities enter into the structure.  We have included Cyper in our spider control kit, which also contains glue boards to help monitor the infestation (and help catch the spiders too).

We recommend using a water based insecticide such as Termidor SC. Termidor is the # 1 choice for ant control around the outside of your home. (Termidor SC is for outside use only.) Termidor is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony. Then, through normal social interaction, the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony. Termidor only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.

Unfortunately we can only recommend what is allowed on the product label.  Termidor is only labeled to be applied around the foundation of the house and is not supposed to be applied farther away from the foundation than 1 foot.  That being said, Termidor is not harmful to trees or plants.  We do sell Advance Carpenter Ant Granular Bait that is very popular for broadcasting in the yard and around tree trunks where carpenter ants are nesting.

Termidor SC is a water-based product and should not damage any surface that water itself wouldn't damage.

The standard concentration of Termidor SC for termite treatments is 0.06% or 0.80 of an ounce per gallon of water. The standard concentration for Dominion 2L for termite treatments is 0.10% or 0.60 fluid oz. per gallon of water.

If you spray a good barrier around the foundation of the home with Termidor it will technically control any species of ant that would crawl across it. You can treat 1 foot up on the side of the home, and 1 foot out on the ground, as well as around any other entry point for the ants like windows, doors and where pipes or wires enter the home. The ants will walk across the Termidor, pick it up unknowingly, and take it back to the nest to eliminate them at the source. The hole needs to be 1/2 inch. You can use funnels found at a local discount store to apply the Termidor SC into the holes. You should drill a hole every 10-12 inches apart and disperse 4 gallons of solution evenly every 10 feet.

Some product labels do say for licensed pest professional use only but that is just the manufacturers wording and it is not law. The manufacturer would like to limit the purchase of the product to Pro's only because of course they will make more money on the products if they can only be sold to a select few. Each individual state gets to decide if a product can be used in the state and if so if they will restrict its use to professionals. On our website you will see several product that say "cannot be sold to NY, CT or other states and those are states that have restricted the use of the product by individuals. Other states do allow you to sue the product, but only on your own property. You cannot use the products to treat other peoples property for profit unless you are licensed. We are fully licensed to sell the products you see on our site and we are over seen by the department of agriculture.

Termidor SC is a liquid termiticide that comes in a 20 oz concentrated bottle that makes 24 gallons of finished solution. The square footage per bottle will depend on how you are using it. If you are diluting it to be used as a general insect barrier spray around your foundation, then each gallon you mix up at the .8 ounce rate will cover roughly 1000 sq/ft. So you are looking at a total of 20,000 sq/ft for the whole bottle. If you are doing a termite trench treatment, each 20 ounce bottle will cover 60 lineal feet. We recommend that you drill a hole (1/2" diameter, 18" deep) 2 inches from the foundation wall. You will drill a hole every 10-12" apart and disperse 4 gallons of the mixed solution every ten lineal feet. For 4 gallons of water, you will add 3.2 oz of Termidor SC.

Termidor SC will kill Carpenter bees, but it really is only labeled to be applied 1ft up and out around the perimeter of the structure. Please see our Carpenter Bee Kits for the best products to use to treat for this pest.

You should not plant anything edible in the same soil that was treated with Termidor SC. Termidor SC persists in soil for at least 10 years and it is not labeled to be used in places where edible plants will be grown. If you really do want to plant a vegetable garden in an area that was treated with Termidor SC you will need to remove all of the soil and replace it with untreated soil. You should note though that if the soil is removed and it is in the termite treatment barrier zone you will be left with a hole in your termite barrier.  When handling the soil it would be recommended to wear gloves and to wash hands thoroughly after.

Termidor SC has a shelf life of 3-5 years if kept in a cool dry place. The "rotten" smell that is coming from the Termidor Sc could be a sign that it has gone bad. If Termidor was been exposed to extreme heat, this could lessen the shelf life.

This means that they will go through the barrier and pick up the active ingredient to then transfer throughout the colony.
