  • Asked by Jojo from Cincinnati, Oh
    02/28/2023
    Q
Can The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide be combined with Scott's Turf Builder Crabgrass preventer?
    A

Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide is a pre-emergent that also prevents crabgrass so it would not be necessary to add another crabgrass pre-emergent but if you do decide to use both, we recommend applying them separately since they're both granules and more than likely have different application rates.

  • Asked by Matt from Southampton, Pa

    Q
    Overapplication at a medium rate...
I accidentally applied the Scotts drop spreader medium rate (6.5) on my broadcast spreader (should have been 4.5). That appears to have applied almost double the amount for 6 months of protection before overseeding. Am I out of luck for overseeding in September now? The label does not indicate a timeline for overseeding at such a high rate with the Scotts Elite spreader.
    A

Per the product label for The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide when applied at the 6.2 lb/1000 you have to wait at least 10 months before seeding the area so at a little higher you would need to wait at least 11 months.  You may also contact the manufacturer directly to confirm when you can reseed after such a higher rate, they can be reached at (877) 474-8262.

    Q
If l overseeded in the fall, can l use The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide on the areas l overseeded the following spring?
    A

Yes, you are able to overseed after an application of Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide. The general rule is if you overseed in the fall, you can apply in the spring and vice versa. This product could inhibit the germination of turf species if you overseed too soon after an application. Please follow the intervals given based on the rates used on the table located on page two of the product label for best overseeding/reseeding results. When used at the lowest rates, it starts at 4 months after application that you can overseed.

  • Asked by Lee from Nj

    Q
Can you sod a few weeks after applying The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide?
    A

You will need to wait 4 months following an application of The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide to plant new sod or seed as this will inhibit the sod/seed from germinating.

If you will be seeding/sodding before applying the Andersons Barricade Pre Emergent, then you will need to wait 60 days or until after the 2nd mowing (whichever is longer) until the newly seeded/sodded turf has established.

  • Asked by Frank from Knoxville, Tennessee
    02/21/2022
    Q
Is it better use the low, medium or high rate for The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide on Fescue if wanting to do a split application 3 to 4 months apart starting in February?
Treating 5k sq ft Tall Fescue lawn in Knoxville, Tn. Should I use a low, medium or high application rate? I really wanted to do two applications 3-4 month apart in the spring based upon what I've read online
    A

When doing a split application for herbicides, you want to apply at the low to mid rate to ensure you do not exceed the maximum annual rate allowed per the product label. The higher rate would be a for a single application.

The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide rate for tall fescue is 1.8 lbs to 7.2 lbs per 1000 sq ft. For a split application, apply at 3.1 lbs per 1000 sq ft with a second application 6 weeks following the initial application of 3.1 lbs per 1000 sq ft.

Do not apply more than 2 applications per year or exceed the maximum annual amount of 7.2 lbs per 1000 sq ft.
