I had the opportunity to use this on a 5'+ Texas Rat Snake recently. It is light enough to be easily maneuvered at length, and strong enough to not flex. It was confidence inspiring to use this along with a set of snake tongs. I was able to move the snake to a safe place and release it unharmed. Now it can continue to do its job and I don't have to worry about it and the dogs getting tangled. I'd happily purchase another of these hooks if I needed it. Way better than a hoe.
