    Q
How do you hold the door open to the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap to get cats used to going in?
I know how to SET the trap, but how do I leave the door open with the trap un-set (unset)? If I could do this, I could let the fraidy-cat get used to going in without trapping them. Later, I would set it.
    A

You can use a zip tie to secure the door open without slipping under the trip plate on the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap and then cut off when not needed.

    Q
Will cats be harmed when entering the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap? What if cat sets the trap with only their front paws inside and their body and back legs are outside the trap?
    A

The Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap is safe to trap animals when used as directed.  Place food in the food bowl as well as a small amount near the trap door and inside the trap opposite the trap door. This will draw the cat into the trap to find the food in the tray. Food only in the cup may confuse some cats who will scratch at the trap door and not enter.

    Q
How do you hold the door open to the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap to get skittish cats used to going into the trap for the food?
    A

According to the Instruction Manual and Diagram for the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap, Push the trap door open and into the trap pushing on or near the sheet metal portion of the door to dislodge it from the magnet. Swing the door in just past the trigger panel. With the trap door open, reach into the trap and lift the trigger panel until it comes into contact with the door. Let the door ease back toward the closed position until it catches the hump on the trigger panel.

    Q
Could the spring door harm a kitten if it were to follow mum into the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap?
What has been the success rate and any potential for injury?
    A

Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap should not harm the kitten. You can watch this video that shows how sensitive the door actually is: https://youtu.be/DiR-TDb-rTA. The manufacturer said they made the trap where you could put a styrofoam cup in the doorway and it didn't destroy it.

    Q
Is it okay to modify the magnetic latch on the Tomahawk Humane Roundhouse Trap based on the reviews that it isn't strong enough?
I do TNR and this trap seems to solve all of my intermittent issues with the old style Tomahawk traps. I am hesitating to purchase yet because of the reviews where they state that the magnetic latch isn't strong enough. Ferals are smart. I have never been able to catch a cat a second time that escaped a box trap. I want them caught and kept.
