Turf Blue Pro with Yellow Jacket is coated with Yellow Jacket Enhanced Seed Coating. Yellow Jacket is like having a sponge around each and every seed. Once water is applied, the coating holds that moisture and other nutrients around the seed - making them available as needed for germination and establishment. Without coating, the water simply passes the seed allowing it to dry out, resulting in more frequent watering and increased expense.

Turf Blue Pro is best used where color and/or drought tolerance are necessary traits. These strengths make Turf Blue Pro perfect for the home and landscape sector but carries the genetics and tested performance to provide equally amazing results in golf and sports turf settings.
Seeding and establishment may be done in spring or fall, but be wary of summer or winter annuals. For better early weed control, consider an application of Mesotrione in the seeding process. Plant seeds to a depth of no more than 0.25-0.50” below the soil surface to ensure good seed to soil contact. Thatch layers will only slow or impede germination success. After spreading seed, keep seedbed moist throughout germination, with extra care during the early stages to prevent seed from drying out after initial seed imbibition. Germination should begin within 10 to 12 days and be complete within 21 days. The stand should achieve high levels of percent cover by 35 days. Remember, the turfgrass establishment process may take 6 months to a year.

I have converted over
By Mike on 05/20/2022
I have always been the guy that goes to the lumber store and buys the bag of seed. I did not even know Barenbrug or "Domyown" existed. I am glad I know now. After watching some YouTube help I used a soil spreader with the seed mixed into the peat moss. It worked really well and the germination was very successful. I have learned AGAIN you get what you pay for.

Barenbrug Pro Blue AWESOME
By Paul on 11/28/2024
I researched a long time looking for a beautiful fescue that would thrive in the southern transition zone. I love bluegrass for it's abilities to spread via root system. In August 2024 I killed my entire yard which was a mix of fescue and Bermuda. I dislike Bermuda so I went over board killing the existing lawn. Used a de-thacher to remove the dead material and tilled the the soil to a depth of 4" while adding 1 bag of compost per 4 square feet. Seeded the Pro Blue 3-4 lbs per 1000 soft. The date was September 4th. Seed started ro germinate in 11 days. Had a few 90 degree days but kept soil damp until the end of the month. I didn't add any pre-emergent which ended up with a few weeds that I sprayed with a small spray bottle. Grass was mowed September 28 and by late October looks awesome. I'm extremely pleased with the pro blue and the support from Barenbrug.
Turf Blue Pro with Yellow Jacket is applied at 2-3 lbs if new lawn and 1-2lbs if overseeding.

Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates.
Please take a moment to review our How to Calibrate Your Spreader Video HERE for step by step instructions on how to do this.
