    Q
I had an employee inadvertently spray TVC Total Vegetation Control around the base of some mature oak trees. Will they die?
He was to spray driveway weeds fence rows etc. using hand prayer he sprayed and killed a strip about 8
    A

All bare ground/vegetation management products like Total Vegetation Control TVC , are recommended to be applied outside the dripline of desirable trees and plants to prevent their feeding roots from absorbing the product. Inside the dripline is where these roots are closest to the soil and could absorb any such product.  It is possible the trees will be affected by the application.

    Q
What effect does TVC Total Vegetation Control have on well established trees? When treating weeds/brush near desirable trees?
Would like to kill undesirable weeds/grass, but don't want to harm larger trees. Does this product get into the tree root zone and cause harm? If so, what distance is considered "safe"?
    A

You would want to keep TVC outside of the dripline of any bushes/trees. Typically, this means no application underneath the canopy.

    Q
Will TVC move in the soil or runoff with rain or snow melt?
    A

TVC Total Vegetation Control does not volatize and drift from where it has been applied once dry.  Be sure to apply on a less windy day to avoid drift. Keep in mind that soil and, therefore, the active ingredient, will have more movement if the application area is on a slope.

Martin's TVC Total Vegetation Management is not labeled to control kudzu. We recommend using Ranger Pro Herbicide which is a non-selective herbicide that is applied at 2 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water for kudzu.

    Q
Will TVC Total Vegetation Control work on my 1/2 mile gravel driveway that is having weeds and grass grow through pretty heavily?
I have about a 1/2 mile gravel driveway that is having weeds and grass grow through pretty heavily. Round up quick pro is just not working with spot treatment.
    A

TVC Total Vegetation Control is a systemic herbicide that works by translocating through stems and leaves and destroying the plant root. This can be used in a gravel driveway at a rate of 2-3 fl oz per gallon of water and use ample water to carry the herbicide down into the soil, per the product label. Be sure to use a surfactant with the product for increased effectiveness. This product will last for up to a year in the soil. Be sure not to spray any desirable grass/plants because it will kill them.

    Q
Needing to kill all grasses and reseed. Will TVC Total Vegetation Control work?
How long before reseeding? If not, what other product? 18000 sq ft of mixed grasses and weeds must be eliminated and plan to reseed with one type of cool season grass. Will this product allow me to do so? It says, TVC acts for a long time, does that mean it is not ideal for this plan since it is hard to rid the soil of it to reseed a new lawn? I was planning to use multiple methods (chemical treatment, flaming and solarization) to achieve this task until I came across your TVC. product.
    A

No, TVC Total Vegetation Control is a pre-emergent soil sterilant that will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year.  We would recommend using a non selective product such as RoundUp QuikPRO to kill everything off, and then you can reseed in 2 weeks.

    Q
What strength is TVC Total Vegetation Control mixed to use for pre-emergent applications in gravel driveways? I am using a 4 gallon backpack sprayer with a Hi Yield Surfactant.
    A

Using TVC Total Vegetation Control will give you season-long (pre-emergent) control over undesirable vegetation such as annual and perennial weeds, woody bushes, and trees. Using a Non-Ionic Surfactant to help the chemical adhere to the briars and absorb more quickly will improve your results. Mixing at a rate from .6 fl oz to 6.4 fl oz per gallon of water or 2.6 - 25.6 oz per 4 gallons, moisten but DO NOT drench target vegetation. DO NOT spray to the point of runoff.

    Q
I applied TVC Total Vegetation Control to my lawn by mistake, what can I apply to wash away the Imazapyr and plant new grass this year?
Bought TVC and put about 3/4 of the gallon (1 gallon treats 300 sqft) on my quarter acre lot (diluted of course). Read afterwards that its got 5.03% Glyphosate and 0.089% Imazapyr and supposed to prevent growth for 1 year. It has been a week, we've had a couple good rains and everything is started to yellow up. IS THERE ANY HOPE?
    A

There is not a specific product that can be applied to wash away the applied TVC Total Vegetation Control. It can stay active in the soil for up to one year. Nothing should be planted or seeded in that area for at least one year unless you remove and replace the soil.

    A

TVC Total Vegetation Control will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. We recommend spot treating carefully with a non-selective glyphosate product (RoundUp) and reseed a couple of weeks after application.

  • Asked by Ken from Phoenix Az

    Q
Can I use TVC Total Vegetation Control with a with a hose end sprayer for a gravel yard with no plants?
    A

You could potentially use a hose-end sprayer when applying TVC, however, you need to be very careful that you are not overspraying onto or near any desirable plants or roots.

Depending on what you’re trying to control, TVC Total Vegetation Control can be mixed at a rate of 0.6 oz to 6.4 oz per gallon of water.  Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.  So if your hose end can be sent to those rates you could use though a more accurate application would be with a tank sprayer.

    Q
Can I use a post emergent with TVC Total Vegetation Control?
    A

TVC Total Vegetation Control works as both a pre and post emergent. There would be no need to incorporate another post emergent. We would recommend to mix in a surfactant like Southern Ag Non Ionic Surfactant to help the product stick better.

    Q
What is an herbicide that will kill and and keep plants dead for a long time?
I am looking for the best soil sterilizer that is legal in California and will kill just about anything.
    A

TVC Total Vegetation Control is a great soil sterilizer that can be shipped to California. It will prevent any plant growth in areas where it is applied for at least 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants.  If you have existing plants in the areas, then you can use RoundUp QuikPro to mix in for a faster burn down.  You will want to use a Non Ionic Surfactant as well to increase effectiveness.  You will use anywhere between 2-6 pints of TVC per acre (0.72 oz -2.18 oz per 1000 sq/ft) in no less than 2 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft.

TVC Total Vegetation Control can be mixed with a surfactant to increase the effectiveness of the product. This will help penetrate the plant better when using the product as a post-emergent herbicide.
