  • Asked by Aaron from Sterling, Oh
    03/07/2016
    Q
Is the ratio different for Ultra-Pure Oil Horticultural Insecticide, Miticide, and Fungicide for backyard orchard spraying?
I see the ratio for apples is: "Use 1 - 2 gal per 100 gal of water at 100 - 800 gal per acre. (Concentrate Spray: Use 3 - 8 gal per acre in a minimum of 20 - 100 gal water per acre.)" I will need ~20 gallons of water to spray my apple trees. Will I really need 3 gallons of spray for 20 gallons of water? Is this ratio on the label for commercial sprayers?
    A

The product label for the Ultra-Pure Oil Horticultural Insecticide, Miticide and Fungicide will give rates per Acre since it is designed for commercial applications. If you are treating a smaller area, than you would need to calculate the correct amount of concentrate for the area that you need to treat, and then use sufficient water for your application. If you only have a few trees to treat, we do sell several other horticultural oils that may be easier to measure. Monterey Horticultural Oil comes in several different sizes, and you would use 2.5 to 5 ounces per gallon of water to treat Apples.

    Q
Can Ultra-Pure Oil be used on Cannabis during the flowering stage?
I am a Caregiver. I want to use a product to rid my plants of spider mites and such that will get rid of them but will not be harmful to the plant.
    A

Unfortunately we cannot give advice on Ultra-Pure Oil or any other product on cannabis unless it is in a product label. We recommend you check with your local department of agriculture to see if they have released of a list products that can now be used on cannabis. We do know that state of Washington has compiled a list for cannabis and other states are starting to do so as well.

  • Asked by Carlos from Decatur , Alabama
    03/01/2017
    Q
What can I use for a pecan tree with scale and other leaf bugs and also small worms in a web on branches?
The tree also as some type of small worm that bores into the hull of the pecan before it matures and kills the pecan inside. I tried the Bayer 12 month treatment last year with very limited success in control. I used it in March of last year and I'm ready to apply something else this year. Any HELP would be greatly appreciated!!!
    A

From your description it sounds like your pecan tree may be quite ill. When several species of insects have taken over a tree or plant, that is usually a sign of distress. We highly recommend you seek guidance from your local cooperative extension office to help you definitively identify each pest to insure the correct treatment is being used. We will recommend horticultural oil for the scale. We apologize we could not be more helpful at this time!

  • Asked by Horace from Conyers, Ga
    01/07/2019
    Q
If I use Ultra-Pure Oil Horticultural IMF, will it erase the use of a fungicide which prevents Black Knot in plums, or Fire Blight in pears?
    A

If you are using another fungicide that’s absorbed foliarly and it’s labeled to treat for diseases other than what Ultra-Pure Horticultural Insecticide, Miticide and Fungicide is labeled for, it would be fine to use both. The Ultra-Pure Oil is mostly used to smother anything on foliage for labeled insects, and mites so we would recommend to use the other fungicide first and then make the application with Ultra-Pure Oil Horticultural Insecticide, Miticide and Fungicide a day later.
