Advance Termite Monitoring Stations are placed in the ground ten to fifteen feet apart around the home and about two to three feet out from the foundation of the house. The Advance Termite Monitor Station contains a wood food source and an inspection cartridge for detecting subterranean termites.
We recommend you use the Advance Spider tool and twist the black cap off of the station. If you do not have one, you can use a large flat head screw driver placed behind the small black tab on the cap and twist the cap until both tabs are released and the cap can be removed. Once the cap is off, you can use either a small screw driver or a pair of needle nose pliers to lift the old cartridge out. Then you simply set the new cartridge in the station and put the cap back on.

Each Advance Termite Bait Station comes loaded with four total components: The black plastic housing, a wooden Termite Monitoring Base, a Termite Inspection Cartridge, and a black plastic cap. These are extra complete stations to replace or supplement the Advance Termite Bait System Kit. Stations are placed 10-15 feet apart, 2-4 feet away from the foundation around the structure to be treated to monitor subterranean termite activity. These stations do not contain any active ingredient or Termite Bait Cartridges – they are for monitoring only. Termite Bait Cartridges and other components may be purchased separately.
The easy-access design of the station combined with highly attractive wooden base and Termite Inspection Cartridge cells attract and intercept foraging worker termites before they find food in the structure. If activity is observed in stations, the Termite Inspection Cartridge is replaced with a termite bait cartridge, like the Advance Termite Bait Cartridge (sold separately).
Subterranean termites
Advance Termite Bait Stations are installed to monitor and treat subterranean termites around structures, generally in residential areas. Advance stations are easy to install, monitor, and maintain, with minimal disturbance to the environment.
Advance stations are for preventative treatment: they should not be installed as the sole treatment for existing termite infestations. See How to Perform a Termite Treatment for existing infestations.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: No active insecticides, contains only wood and food attractants.
Always read the product label completely before use.
Each station includes one wood Termite Monitoring Base and one Termite Inspection Cartridge.
* Place stations 10-20 feet apart, 2-4 feet from the foundation of the structure – Closer placement results in better monitoring and treatment.
* One wooden base and one Termite Inspection Cartridge are included per station and should be replaced approx. every 12 months.
Around residential, commercial, and industrial structures
Indoors
Advance Termite Bait Stations are for outdoor use only.
Outdoors
See above for Application Instructions. Install in grassy or landscaped areas. For concrete or asphalt applications, creation of a cavity in the concrete or asphalt is considered to be the station housing the components, and the station itself is not needed.

I had to purchase an individual bait station because I ran short when installing a system around my home. The item was exactly what I needed and the price including shipping was the best I found. The item was shipped very quickly and it arrived prior to what I anticipated. Great company with excellent price...

Cyper-WP and Advance Termite Bait Kit
By James on 10/02/2012
Excellent products. Both products were easy to apply and/or install and so far have performed as advertised. Haven't checked the termite bait stations yet but installation was simple. Customer assistance is prompt and friendly, either by phone or online request. I can personally recall multiple request, each greeted with friendly and courteous helpful information. The Cyper-WP product is excellent and quickly cleaned up an otherwise out of control basement. Made several purchases and plan to make more in the future of at least these two products.

Very convenient to install in heavy clay soil using 3" tubing to dig right-sized hole about 10" deep, with about 2-1/2 drain gravel in bottom of hole. Installed at about 7-9' intervals 30" from foundation around house. No hits yet. Hope they work.

I have old TBS systems around the house and I did not even realize i had them when I purchased the home. I’m just wondering if I should change the cartridges when they seem to be in an okay shape.
The wood in the Advance Termite Bait Station should be changed once a year to ensure it remains fresh & appealing to the termites. If you have not changed it in over a year, it would be advised to do so.
The directions I read said to install 2-4 feet away from the foundation but not under the drip line. The drip line is 2ft from the house. Unfortunately, I have walkways around a good portion of the house, 3ft from the house. Is there a reason they might advise not to put inside the dripline, closer to the house, say at 1 ft from the slab? Directions mentioned not being in super high moisture w/ decent drainage to avoid molding (we get a ton of summer rain) so I would think putting a foot away from the slab might be the best bet in my situation (1 ft inside the dripline instead of a foot outside the dripline)? Also, are any tips installed in sandy soil with a post-hole digger so the soil is not disturbed so much? I read disturbing soil is not ideal for getting termites to take the bait, but holes here lose shape as sand just falls back in the hole.
Advance Termite Bait Stations should be placed 2-4 feet away from the foundation, but not directly under the drip line from the roof of the structure at 10ft to 20ft intervals. To dig holes for the stations, use a 2 ¾ in. hand or electric auger or post hole digger. The cavity for each station should extend 2 to 4 in. below the stations’ housing to allow excess moisture to drain.

The monitoring system is less expensive for folks who want to help keep costs down. The monitoring stations comes loaded with a wood base and a monitoring cartridge which usually need to be replaced once per year and are less expensive than the live bait. You will only put live bait in these stations when you observe termite activity.
We do offer an Annual system that comes loaded with live bait and these baits will need to be replaced usually once a year so they can be more expensive to maintain. The manufacturer decides on the quantity that comes per case. We also offer single stations in case the case is not quite big enough for you:

Hello, I used an auger attachment for my drill to place these bait stations around my home. I went fairly deep to ensure water would have somewhere to go beneath the station. I checked the stations last week and lots of them had water standing water in the bottom. Is this a problem? If so, what do you recommend as a solution? I am located in Louisiana so we get extreme heat, humidity, and rain in the summer. Should I try digging deeper?
It seems like the soil around the station probably is waterlogged to an extent and as the soil dries out so will the station. However, the wood inside can get moldy and would probably need to be replaced. If the Advance Termite Bait Station are full of water or the wood has too much mold on it, termites will not want to enter the stations. Typically the wood needs to be replaced at least once a year, but in your case, you may need to do it twice a year
Please make sure you have left atleast a 1 inch gap between the bottom of the station and soil.
Please clarify, after the installation of the stations, monitor the stations every 90 days, only if termites are active in the station do I remove the inspection cartridge and replace with a bait cartridge? Is this correct?
Yes, you are correct. The Advance Termite Bait Station System is used for monitoring termite activity surrounding the home. Each station holds a wood monitoring base and a termite inspection cartridge. Monitor the bait stations every 90 days and if termites are active in one of the stations, remoe the inspection cartridge and replace with a bait cartridge. Continue to monitor the stations every 90 days, once termite activity has stopped, remove the bait cartridge and replace with an inspection cartridge. Continue monitoring and repeat the process if necessary. .

Each Advance Termite Bait Station is approximately 7.5 inches long and 6 inches wide (at the top). Each station holds a wood monitoring base at the bottom with either an inspection or bait cartridge sitting on top of the wood base.
Please view our How to Use the Advanced Termite Bait System Video for more information.
We hired a company to treat active subterranean termites found under the siding of our house. They installed what appears to be Advance Termite Bait Stations every 4 feet along the foundation. It has been a full year and they are still reporting activity in the stations. We are considering cancelling our contract with the company and taking this on for ourselves using the same system and following your guidelines. Should we remove some of the bait stations so they are spaced farther apart?
Termite bait stations such as the Advance Termite Bait Stations technically could be installed as close together as you would like. However, standard application is about every 10-12 feet, and 4-6 feet from the foundation outside the dripline of the roof.
Since bait stations are considered prevention, if there were live termites found under the siding, then that should have been treated directly with a termiticide liquid or foam as well. Stations can be checked more often so that bait is replaced as often as needed to maintain a fresh supply as long as there are termites found in that area.
You can learn more about Termite Prevention in our online guide here.

If mud is noticed in the inspection cartridges to the Advance Termite Bait Station, we would recommend knocking any cartridges on the ground to dislodge some of the mud. You do not need to replace the wood base with a new base, simply knock any clumps of wood off and replace the existing wood base in the station.
What is the best way to dispose of the inspection cartridge that has been infiltrated by termites? I don't think it would be a good idea to place them in our trash in the garage and risk introducing them into the interior of the house.
You can wrap the cartridge after removing from the Advance Termite Bait Station in a plastic bag and dispose of it in your outdoor trashcan. Once the termites are removed from their colony they cannot survive on their own.

The Advance Termite Bait Station contains a wood food source and an inspection cartridge for detecting subterranean termites. The active ingredient that kills the termites is the Trelona Compressed Bait. Trelona is a compressed termite bait that has an active ingredient, novaluron, which is an insect growth inhibitor. When Trelona is eaten by the termite, novaluron harms the ability to properly synthesize and inhibits the termite to molt. When this is consumed by a termite, it will impair the ability of a termite to properly synthesize chitin and disallow the termite to molt. By being unable to molt, they are not able to form a replacement exoskeleton. Termites will either die or are incapacitated by their inability to complete the molting process.

For the Advance Termite Bait Station, you will need a wood monitoring base, an inspection cartridge and tool to access to monitor every couple of months. We do also offer the Trelona Bait Cartridge if there is activity (this will replace the inspection cartridge).
Advance Termite Bait Stations are placed in the ground ten to fifteen feet apart around the home and about two to three feet out from the foundation of the house.

We have just found new termite activity in the wood of our well house, and are concerned about contaminating our drinking water, if we use any insecticides.
Trelona Termite Bait Cartridges which are used inside the Advance Termite Bait Stations are allowed on properties with wells or cisterns. We do not recommend using insecticides within 5 feet of the well itself. You could use bait stations around the exterior of the well house and also treat any existing or replaced wood using a wood treatment product like Boracare. Keep in mind that termite bait stations may not kill termites that are already in the wood of the structure.

You should clean out all of the Advance Termite Bait Stations completely and replace the wood base at least every 12 months, or once a year. Depending on where you live and the climate and amount of rain, you may need to replace the wood base more often. If the wood bases become very soggy and moldy then you should replace them.
