    Q
Do I need to do anything to the trap or are the ready to go out of the package?
I had used them before and they were amazing (from a pest control pro) so I ordered a bag when we had ants again this spring. The baits do not seem to be doing anything so I wondered if I missed a step of removing part of the packaging or adding water or something.
    A
The Advion Ant Baits come ready to use. Ants nutritional needs change frequently. This means that one day they may only forage for proteins, like what is contained in the Advion Ant Bait Stations and another day they may forage for carbohydrates like the ingredients contained in the Maxforce Ant Bait gel. We recommend leaving the Advion Stations in place and allow the ants to continue their natural foraging. We also recommend using an ant bait gel or liquid in the same area where you placed the stations to allow the ants to select the bait that fits their needs.

    Q
What is the shelf life of the Advion Ant Bait Arena?
I bought a bag of the Ant baits last summer. They worked great then. Now, I set some out for new ants coming in and the ants don't even notice them. How accurate is the shelf life information? I would like to know if I just need a fresh batch of Advion Bait traps or try something else for these ants. Thanks
    A
Advion Ant Bait Arenas typically have a shelf life of 6-12 months after being opened. However, baits have food grade ingredients that will go stale which makes the bait less attractive to insects, so for optimal acceptance baits should be used within 6 months of opening.

    Q
Are the Advion Ant Bait Arenas dangerous to pets and children if they touch them?
    A
The actual bait is contained inside the center of the Advion Ant Bait Arena so just touching the exterior of the arena will not be harmful. We do still recommend placing the stations in areas that are not readily accessible by pets and children.

  • Asked by Brian from Tempe

    Q
Advion Bait Arena vs. Advance 360a vs. Maxforce Ant Bait Station
Which of these three products provides the most flexibility combined with effectiveness for helping to eliminate ants? What are the major differences between the 3.
    A
All 3 will offer comparable results really, the only real difference is in the active ingredients.  They are all stations so are convenient to use.  The Advance 360A Dual Choice Ant Bait Station contains two different bait matrixes to ensure efficacy among both carbohydrate and protein feeding ants so would be better than just using the Advion Ant Bait Arena or the MaxForce Ant Bait Stations as they are only protein based.  Ants nutritional needs change on a daily basis so it is best to provide both types of bait to ensure they will go for one of the other.

    Q
Can I use the gel alone without the trap.
I have ants all around my kitchen. On my counters, floor, at one time on the refridgerator.

We do carry Advion Ant Bait Gel that has the same active ingredient as the Advion Ant Bait Arena. There is less of the active ingredient in the gel, but it will still accomplish the job of eliminating ants.

  • Asked by Ken
    09/17/2010
    Q
How do the Advion Ant Bait Arenas work in the yard with the sprinklers going on daily?
    A
Although the Advion Ant Bait Arenas can be used both indoors and outdoors, you would want to be careful to place them outdoors where they would not be in direct contact with large amounts of water from the sprinklers. Typically, the stations should be place immediately around the structure and close to the foundation. Try to place the stations where they would not come into much contact with water.  Since the stations are small, they can easily be placed behind downspouts, under rocks, under ground cover like pine straw and mulch, etc. where water will not fall directly on them.

  • Asked by Peggy from Santa Fe, New Mexico
    07/25/2019
    Q
If the ants keep changing locations, where should I put the Advion Ant Bait Arenas?
    A

You can place Advion Ant Bait Arenas anywhere you see ants trailing or expect to see them. If you see that ants are not attracted to these stations, then the ants may be looking for carbohydrates instead of protein, in which case you would need to use a gel bait as well, such as Advion Ant Bait Gel.

    Q
How long are the Advion Ant Bait Arenas effective?
    A

Advion Ant Bait Arenas have a shelf life of about one year after the bag has been opened. You should inspect the arenas periodically and replace as needed or every 2 to 3 months. You can apply to vertical surfaces using 1-4 ant bait arenas where ants are observed is adequate to control normal ant infestations (heavier activity may require additional arenas).
