Advion Ant Bait Arenas typically have a shelf life of 6-12 months after being opened. However, baits have food grade ingredients that will go stale which makes the bait less attractive to insects, so for optimal acceptance baits should be used within 6 months of opening.
You do not need to puncture any holes in order to use the Advion Ant Bait Arenas. You just place them in areas where there is ant activity.
The actual bait is contained inside the center of the Advion Ant Bait Arena so just touching the exterior of the arena will not be harmful. We do still recommend placing the stations in areas that are not readily accessible by pets and children.
