    Q
For Tall Fescue, will applying Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) at the 0.5 fl oz per 1000 sq ft rate give me the 4-5 month pre emergent control of listed weeds?
If I use 0.50 per 1000 sq feet Would this give me the 4 - 5 month preemergent control? 1. tank sprayer 2. per 1000 sq ft 3. Tall Fescue I'm reviewing the charts on pages 12 & 13 chart page 12 I see 21 for Tall Fescue Chart page 13 I see 0.5 - 1.1
    A

Barricade 4FL Herbicide can be applied once or twice per year as long as you don't go over the 1.1 ounces per 1000 sq. ft per year(21 oz per acre/per year) for Turf Type Tall Fescue.

Doing a split application 60-90 days following the 1st application will give you longer residual control as opposed to a single application. We would recommend doing a second application at the 0.5 oz rate per 1000 sq ft to get the longer monthly residual.

Please review the charts of page 12 & 12 of the product label for more information.

  • Asked by Mitch from Memphis, Tn

    Q
    Will Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide work well in a quart-size, hose-end sprayer?
    A

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) should be used in a tank sprayer for best results. Herbicides are much different than other chemicals because water just acts as the carrier. I The rate is not provided per gallon of water but per area so would not work well in a hose end.  Please read the product label to determine the exact usage rate for your needs as it varies according to the species of grass you have.  We have a video here that can help explain how to calibrate your sprayer.

  • Asked by Paul from Mills River Nc

    Q
Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide use with wild flower bed
Is Barricade specific enough to weed control that it can be used in wild flower beds and still have wild flowers grow and bloom?
    A

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) is labeled safe for some ornamentals but should only be used around established wildflowers as it could inhibit seed growth. We would suggest you check the label prior to an application to ensure your flowers are the tolerable list.

    Q
Can I use Barricade 4FL after a fall over seed?
I did a fall over seed with KGB. While most of the grass came in I still have some spots I will have to put seed down once it gets warmer. Will using this inhibit seed growth or does it work like Tenacity?
    A

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) can be put down in the spring if you overseed in the fall. It is not like Tenacity that can be applied at the same time/close to seeding, with Barricade it states to wait at least 60 days after seeding to apply so the grass is established

    Q
    Applying Fertilizer after Barricade 4FL
After applying Barricade 4FL in Feb , can I apply fertilizers to bermuda grass in Spring (Mar - Apr). If no then what is the waiting period . I usually do scotts turf feed , is that compatible with Barricade 4FL
    A

Yes, once you apply Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) in February, you can apply fertilizer at or around the same time. The only time we don't recommend applying a fertilizer is if it already contains a pre-emergent. If it is only a fertilizer, you can apply it at any time.

    Q
Animal safety with Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide
My neighbor has goats that graze between the fence rails. Will this product be harmful if a goat eats a week with this on it?
    A
Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide would not be recommended to use in assigned pastures or grazeland where animals are intended to graze or in specifically planted food plot areas.   Prowl H2O would be an alternative pre-emergent for the area.

  • Asked by Richard from Ogden, Utah
    03/19/2024
    Q
Does Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide need to be watered in?
    A

As with any pre-emergent you do have to water in after application to get down into the soil to create the barrier. Per the product label: Weed control is most effective when Barricade 4FL is activated by at least 0.5 inch of rainfall or irrigation or shallow incorporation (1-2 inches) before weed seeds germinate and within 14 days following application.

    Q
How long after I apply Barricade 4FL can I put down some fertilizer?
    A

You can typically apply a pre emergent such as Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) the same day or the following day as a fertilizer application as long as they do not have competing use instructions regarding watering in after treatment and they do not contain the same active ingredient as a pre-emergent.

    Q
I have been using Barricade 4FL for several years on gravel, beautibark etc for several years.
I have been using Barricade 4FL for several years, but I use it only on Bark, gravel etc. I was told to use 3oz per gallon. Is that the amount I need to use or can I use less?
    A

You will need to use 0.5 – 1.1 oz of Barricade 4FL per 1,000 sq. ft. for ornamental type areas, the amount of water you will need depends on the amount of water it takes to irrigate that area. If you're unsure, you will need to calibrate your sprayer. Please read the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
Barricade then topper and new seed
If i put down Barricade along with a kill all then removed the dead grass/ weeds then two weeks later add topper and new seed will the seed grow?
    A

You should not apply Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine), or any pre-emergent, if you are planning to seed within the same season.  Also applying a top layer of soil over a pre-emergent application would be above the barrier it creates so will not offer full protection.  You should apply any top layer of soil before applying a pre-emergent for the best barrier to prevent weeds..

  • Asked by Paula from Myrtle Beach, Sc
    10/13/2021
    Q
Can Barricade kill spurge once it's gone to seed on grass that is not yet fully established?
My young centipede grass is about 4 inches high, but spurge is taking over and killing the grass. I live in Coastal SC. If this product will not be effective for my situation, what can you recommend?
    A

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine)  is only a pre-emergent, used to prevent weeds from emerging. It will not kill anything that is actively growing. You will wait until the new lawn is established (mowed at least twice) before you apply Prodiamine. Blindside Herbicide WDG is a post-emergent that is safe to apply to established centipede grass to get rid of spurge.

    Q
can I combine Barricade with Revolver ? and how long before overseed?
i live in southwest California and we do overseed in October and i have problems with poa annua ij this product combination can help to prevented?
    A

Revolver Selective Herbicide can only be applied by licensed applicators and not for use by residential homeowners.

If overseeding, you will need to either wait until the new seed has established (after 2 mowings or 30 days) before applying Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) otherwise, you will need to wait 4 months after applying Barricade to overseed.

  • Asked by Martin from Pomona, Ca

    Q
The only relevant application specification is amount of Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) per square feet, the amount of water volume is not important as long as you use enough to cover 1000 sq ft, is that not correct?
Why do the reference of active per gallon when it isn't the important information?
    A

Yes, you are correct. As with most herbicides the exact volume of water is not very important, you just need to be sure you are getting the correct amount of product on a specific area, such as 1,000 sq. ft.  What you are referring to on the label is the total amount of active ingredient that is in each gallon of product.
