    Q
Does Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) have better tank suspension than the Prodiamine 65 WDG?
Since this is a liquid, does it suspend better in the tank than the 65 WDG? I use a 9-gallon push sprayer and want something that doesn't need constant agitation.
    A

Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) is a flowable liquid so does stay suspended in liquid better than the Prodiamine 65 WDG which is water dispersible granules which do not actually dissolve.

You should still agitate the sprayer during application for consistent suspension while applying.

    Q
Can Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) be used with a hose end sprayer and with what setting?
    A

A hose end sprayer is not recommended for applying Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) as this type of sprayer is hard to regulate the water volume being usedHerbicides are much different than other chemicals because water just acts as the carrier and each applicator may use a different volume of water for their treatment areas.

The product label states to apply 0.23 - 1.1 oz per 1,000 sq ft in a sufficient water volume to cover each 1000 sq ft area depending on your type fo turfgrass.

Please read the product label to determine the exact usage rate for your needs as it varies according to the species of grass you have and view our How to Calibrate Your Sprayer Video for a demonstration if needed.

    Q
Can Barricade be applied with an Ortho Dial'N Spray Hose-End Sprayer? How many ounces per 1,000 sq.ft.?
    A

It is not recommended to apply herbicides such as Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) with hose-end sprayers like the Ortho Dial N Spray Hose End Sprayer, as they do not necessarily distribute an accurate rate of product.

It is recommended to use a Hand Pump Sprayer or a Backpack Sprayer for herbicide applications, in order to ensure proper use rates.

Please refer to page 13 of the manufacturer's product label for rates specific to your grass type, and use as directed.

    Q
How much Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) is used in a hose end sprayer? What setting?
    A

We would not recommend using Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) in a hose-end sprayer as it is difficult to get the proper coverage and water volume needed and proper mix ratio.

It is recommended to use pressurized handpump sprayers, backpack sprayers or large capacity sprayers to ensure you are getting the best even coverage using a sufficient volume of water to evenly apply the product at the recommended rate per 1000 sq ft. Please view the product label for application rates and more information.

    Q
    Spraying Gravel Area
Even with weed block some weeds get thru so we are interested in purchasing this to spray our large gravel areas. We will be using a sprayer that covers 470sq ft per gallon. Since all the mixture instructions relate to spraying on grass what would the mixture be to spray on gravel. Also since there is grass and bushes around the gravel how far away should we stop spraying so not to damage the grass and bushes. Thank You
    A
Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine) is safe around most established turf and ornamentals, just stay outside of the root zone of the desirable plants/grass. When spraying the gravel, you'll really need to water it in after spraying to work it down through the gravel and into the soil. As for mix rates, if there are ornamentals nearby, then I would use that rate. Be sure not to get spray where they may plant annuals.
